Although such content has been covered by many, I really think your straightforward and matter-of-fact presentation style is the best. It is free of judgement, is comfortable, and covers the important details clearly. Thank you for that! How I wish such a video was available when I was younger!

I been manscaping since the 80s and now I am 50 im in California and men have always done this in Cal. Less hair means less body smell/odor=better hygiene. Glad to see you broken the seal on this subject to the rest of the world. Taboo really!!!

Great sensitive video. I travel on long haul- 18 hour flights frequently...shaving your armpits- and down under- completely eliminates odour. Simply shave in the shower, small amount of deodorant and you are good to go! Can also recommend Merino wool clothing for odor free travel.

Best informative video I’ve seen on “going there”. I like how you didn’t macho it up and gave clear advice. For me, the shaving products description was an eye opener as I still use the can shaving gel/foamer which isn’t the easiest to see where you are shaving. As always thanks for the help John.

It's a fact that the odor that gets on the hair/body is tremendously awful. This is so, whether you live in New York or (especially) in Florida (because of the weather).
When the odor gets trapped onto the waistline of the pants, boxers,
briefs; or onto the shirts, tanks, tees, say bye-bye to these garments. The odor is transferred to the body. Some men don't even notice this. But we (lovers) do!
    It's a turn off.
Thank you John, for this video!

One thing that doesn't come up often, but I feel like it's important: Use conditioner after you trim any body hair. It keeps it from feeling spiky or rough. If you have a lot of hair, that definitely can be an issue. If you're especially furry, using shampoo on your chest or whatever instead of soap also keeps your body hair from feeling like a steel wool pad.

Hmmm, as a girl I have mixed feelings about guys shaving their chest. There is nothing worse than rubbing or trying to rest your head on a guy's chest, a day or two after he shaves it, it is like sandpaper. I really prefer natural or just trimmed. As for the nether-regions, I agree, trim above, shave below. :)

I can't imagine shaving my groin...but 6 years ago my pubic hair had to be shaved on the left side due to requiring 2 areas of skin cancer surgery. Many cases of skin cancer are appearing in areas that never see excessive amounts of sunlight or outdoors tanning or tanning beds. These cases of skin cancer in the groin area have become much more common due to religiously using tanning beds, and this was determined to be the culprit behind my 2 areas of skin cancer. I've never ever tanned nude while outdoors or in tanning beds, but I'd used tanning beds, especially in wintertime, for nearly 20 years or more. My groin and rear-end are something of a dense forest, so to speak. I've never addressed the rear-end forest situation, but I've scissored some of the extra-long scraggly bizarrely reaching/wandering pubic hair. Some men choose "clean shaven" body grooming but that's definitely not for me.

Moisturizer moisturizer moisturizer! Keep the moist and that should help. As well, don't cut the hair beneath the surface i.e. smooth chest. The itch general occurs as the hair is pushing through the to layer of skin (the surface).

Thanks John - some good honest advice. For the older gentleman, it's worth remembering that your skin might have lost quite a bit of elasticity so shaving one's torso risks exposing areas of loose skin, for example around the navel. But give it a go and see how it looks!

Wife turned me on to shaving my underarms bear just before deploying to Iraq. I have not looked back. I now use a quarter of the deodorant I used to use. As a black man I have also stopped using razors on my face. They cut too close and the bumps were horrible. An Andis T-Outliner clipper is all I use on this pretty face. LOL Rarely - if ever do I get shave bumps. Moisturizer is critical! Great video - thanks!

As a young 56 year old with a full split-chest short sleeve (including buttocks and around the thigh) tattooed body suit, I can appreciate the importance of man-scaping. I do my whole body with a trimmer (no attachments) and the crotch with a razor. I won't go into some of the contortionist moves that I have to go through to try an get everything...and it's growing back anyway. Touchy subject very well handled there, John. At my age my chest hair has become very wiry and white. I trim it to a number 4. Underarms get number 1 as does my butt. Your advice on the groin area is spot on and exactly what I do below the tree but not above. It is advisable that if you are going to shorten that part that you definitely should use a trimmer, as you recommend. I use a number 4 or 5 and always work up toward the navel or it tends to itch like crazy. Again, well handled topic. Thanks a lot.

I maintain a short beard, and use a razor for cheeks and neck. Chest and back get a trim - unfortunately, there is no good solution for the back if you are trying to do it by yourself, and that includes those massive back razors! If I want to take it down to the skin, what works best for me is depilatory cream - normally, that might mean the back of the neck if I can't get to the barber regularly, but I've also had no issues with it around the genitals (where the results last longer and regrowth is not so prickly).

Personal grooming is a must, particularly in the heat and if you work in very hot conditions, that smell lingers and also a little less hair just is slightly cooler.Be wary if you have rough hair on your forearms and torso,as many men are tempted to remove their top in the heat, these hairs protect your skin, however if you trim it down be sure to wear sunscreen for a few days afterwards no matter how dark you are,This comes with experience of a hot summer and trying to remain cool.

Question mate so on your neck? I keep like a 5 day growth on my face as I cannot clean shave every day where do you trim your neckline too, I have heard just so its neat and some say just above your adam's apple. what your opinion

Hi Dave! Thanks for your comment! I talked about this in my beard video. The area above your adams apple, where your head meets your neck is where I cut the line.

As an asian we aren't hairy so I really don't have anything to shave on my body nor leg, just trim sometimes down under with scissors. 😁🙈

I’m another beard guy, can’t stand the look of neck hair, it for me just looks really scruffy , likewise back of neck hair, arghh, neck hair! I shave my neck every day in the shower just with the lubrication of my shampoo ( BTW purple shampoo works for making my grey hair lighter, thank you!) just a quick with the grain is enough but every three days I do a proper shaving regime at the sink with my badger hair brush and proper shaving cream ( I like Proraso, gives a nice Italian barber shop smell) which is with the grain, then lubricate and side grain then a final lubrication and carefully against the grain, hooking the razor to get that extra close finish. Doing this shave then lasts a couple of days before I need to shave again. I use a Merkur traditional razor which is fantastic as I get far less skin rash than I do with a multi blade which is actually really bad for your skin so I highly recommend the old school way, much better for your skin. Thanks for the great tips. I’m lucky as I’m not that hirsute so I don’t do anywhere else and I like having arm hair anyway. Never had much on my legs and thankfully next to nothing on my back or chest.

I shave the back of my neck along the hairline to keep looking tidy between haircuts.

An insult of old was to call a man a “neck beard”. It was meant to call a man dumb when his neck was hairy. You are good to shave the neck as many guys do not even think about it.

@@jonathanl2748 I did not know that. Thank you. I just personally have never liked the look of the scraggly hair that grows back at the nape of my neck between haircuts so I shave it.

The next time you think “partner”, say “wife” or “girl”. Men need to hear that or they’re confused that other stuff is acceptable or okay. I won’t put a razor near my mechanicals! I stay trimmed closely with clippers.

Nope. Doesn't work without a demonstration on how to exactly and precisely do it. I look forward to THAT video.....

I clearly have a slightly old fashioned girlfriend. I'm in my mid 20s, she's in her early 20s and I actually stopped manscaping per her preference.

I love hairy guys so I prefer hairy chest and all. You can trim down there but clean shaven, ummm....looks like a big baby so no go for me. Lol. Im asian so hair is precious to me therefore I only trim when it gets too crazy. I wanted to grow a goatee but I can't even grow a moustache. Oh well!
