  • This is part 8, the finale, of me choosing my preaching Bible. In this one, I show my thought process of all the different options based on how the Bible will be used, what I chose and why, and my recommendations for each of the options and other translations. I cover how the Bible will be used including preaching only, study, marking, carry, all-purpose, and combo editions.
    I chose a Bible that had the paper, print, and tools I can use for preaching. Now, I want to color-code it with preaching in mind using the concepts in my book, Easy Bible Marking Guide.
    This process also gave me several ideas for Bible designs that I will pitch to publishers or take to Kickstarter.

    I've REALLY enjoyed this whole preaching series you've had... I just love to learn even if it has NOTHING to do with me. I can still learn some great pointers about these bibles. Thank you so much for this and all your hard work.

    As I watched this message, the sinking feeling came over me when I remembered the believers in the reformation went to a place where the bible was chained to the church building to prevent it from being stolen. And people had to wait to read it if they could read at all. Others came and listened to it being read.... with bibles so readily available today it's not so precious..... yet we are heading towards apostasy.

    All I need is the Bible with references. I particularly like the Zondervan references (NIV & NASB Study Bibles) because they chase down the phrases or clauses that are repeated elsewhere in Scripture. That's a huge help.

    Great things to consider. I have used the Schuyler Quentel for preaching, and I have definitely found it extremely readable and conducive for use in the pulpit. For carry, I prefer a thinline, which still has decent size print but is easy to hold and fit in a backpack.

    I am with you on the the best layout for a preaching bible. I have it in the NKJV and the layout is the best! The only problem for me is that i dont preach from that translation often. I manuscript my sermons and read from my tablet as well, so any bible i have will basically work. NASB reader from Allan is my second favorite layout. Great video!

    I knew it! Nelson has Randy in their pocket, yep he can't be trusted now.....He will become NKJV Only in time ..wait and see next year Randy will be leading an NKJV Only channel. 😂😂😂
    Nice pick brother, the NKJV is my favorite of the two , love that poetry section.😍

    Great series, I just finished binge watching all 8 episodes.
    I have used the Cambridge Concord WM, the Oxford/Allan Brevier Clarendon WM for preaching and have found my self leaning toward the pulpit or picking up my Bible while reading. I use the old Oxford Clarendon WM as my personal study Bible, the one with the super high gsm paper but have found the Canterbury much easier to see/read while preaching. I do not like the excessive (my opinion only) use of self pronouncing text in the Canterbury. Otherwise it would be perfect for preaching for me. I may try the Nelson preaching since watching your series.
    With that being said I just preordered two of the Canterbury WMs which will not have the pronouncing text that the original has!! You may have a challenger for pulpit time! I am looking forward to it. God bless brother!

      Thank you!! I/m with you on the Canterbury. I'm glad the wm has removed the self-pronouncing text. That one might be my new preaching Bible.

    In your opinion what is the best wide margin bible with margins on both sides of the double column page or wide margin on one side with single column text, red letter edition, KJV? I wanted the Concord wide margin but it was in black letter only

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ben! If you don't need a lot of margin space, I'd recommend the Holman Pastor's Bible. They do have a non-pastor's version coming out soon in their Hand Crafted line that will be even better.
      If you do want more margin space, then I recommend the Notetaker's from Church Bible Publishers. Its paper isn't my favorite, but it's not bad.
      For a double column and the best paper available, the Schuyler Canterbury is by far the best option. It's a large Bible, but it's the one I'd recommend if you want the best paper and the price isn't an issue.

    You can NOW only get NKJV in preaching bible W blue accents AND 11.5 font which is .5 font more than Quentel at 11 pt font. And McLaren at 10.5. Plus I am converting to NKJV from KJV only.
    And In calfskin. ..not goatskin.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  2 роки тому +1

      Thomas Nelson changed their method of font measurement from the Preaching Bible to the Maclaren. Both are 10.5.
      The Comfort Print reads a lot larger than other fonts because of how large the lower-case fonts are.
      The NKJV is an excellent choice for anyone used to the KJV (like me and you).

    Surprised the Longprimer wasn’t in your lineup. I’ve settled on the 53 as my “one” Bible. I just received it last week in NB goatskin.

      I did include it when I tested reference Bibles. I just didn't want to show them all again in order to keep the video shorter. It's a great choice. It could easily be my one Bible.

    Hello Good Afternoon,
    Could you please confirm advise,
    Is this Thomas Nelson Ministers bible, KJV, King James Version an Authorised King James Version AKJV?
    Are the Gospel Title in blue or red?
    Also are the Words of Christ in Red lettered, or is the red letter you were refering to something other than the words of Christ..? Thank you, Be Blessed.. 🙏

    He spoke of the thon line bible wanting it in good leather.
    The worst of leather is bonded leather it's leather strips, glue, and dust made into a solid material it's meant for bibles that don't get used often leather soft is imitation leather. Moroccan leather is goat skin or cow hide French Moroccan is sheep skin. Moroccan is rubbed against something to give it a bumpy surface. Split leather is not the best like calf split. if it's top grain that's ok but the best of the split is full grain then you have genuine leather which is pigskin check it by looking at it with a magnifying glass and if you see pores it's pig. The best of leather is young calf leather NOT SPLIT. Don't get caught up with Berkshire or Italian calf or Spanish leather. Moroccan and all that.

    Which bible would you chose if you can only have one for preaching and study? For me, it would be the Allan 62.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  5 років тому +2

      Great question! I could see the 62 being a great choice. I'm not sure what I'd choose. This might need a new series lol.
