    I have the SRT, and I feel the same way you do about the paper stock. "I love the paper and it annoys me all at the same time." Having said that, I highlight and write all over my SRT. You can SEE the shadow of it through the page because they are so thin, but it does not bleed. If you stick with yellow, orange, and pink highlight colors only, it doesn't leak. Something about blue, though, soaks through. Ballpoint ink never bleeds, no matter the color used. I hope that helps.

      That's good to know! Thanks for sharing. I'll try these colors.

    Thank you SO MUCH for this review and for the very extensive one on your blog. It has helped me so much. I have a SRT Bible and have enjoyed it over the last 3 years. But THIS ONE. Ohmygoodness! It has much better theological helps for serious study.
    I wish that publishers of Christian women's products didn't think that all women want are frilly, pretty things that have little depth. I'm actually going to order this for myself in genuine leather as my main go-to Bible to replace my NASB New Inductive Study Bible that has gotten a ton of wear over the last 13 years and is tiiiirrrred. I had originally planned to have my NASB re-bound, but the CSB just draws me in more and I'm switching to it as my "home base" translation. This Bible is the perfect marriage of study helps, yet no commentary, combined with juicy margins for lots of notes. I prefer to keep my commentaries in separate books outside of my Bible so that I can engage with just the text when I'm studying.

      Kim Wine I am with you!!!!
      I cannot find a bible that is just PLAIN on the outside .. not every woman wants frilly flowers and bright pink bibles. Drives me nuts.

    • @Latriise
      @Latriise 4 роки тому

      I too have noticed that bibles (and other Christian books) marketed specifically at women tend to be more full of fluff and devotionals. But comparing these two bibles side by side just really highlighted that. If I were to grab one, I'd definitely get the men's version instead.

      To be honest with you neither one of them are what I would call study bibles I don’t believe that was the intention it’s more devotional if I was wanting to do a deep dive into the word that would mean me getting my ESV study bible out. I would read this if I just wanted to read the text as study bibles can be distracting. I not see anything in the men’s that would help me do a deep bible study or offered crossing references and notes. But I get what you mean by the frills which is why I chose the blue one I was expecting that somehow this bible would bombard me with colour but flicking through it does not appear that way and I can happily avoid the devotionals. I did like the short books of the bible introductions and a reading plan that you can do every day. I would personal use this for quiet times where I just want to read and not study and I would take it to work to use at lunchtimes as the CSB is a very easy to read

      Claudia Bailey yes I agree this is NOT a study bible at all.
      I use life application study bible for deep understanding and studying!

    • @kimwine6336
      @kimwine6336 4 роки тому

      Claudia Bailey I agree to an extent. This is not a study Bible in the sense of having all sorts of notes at your fingertips. But I prefer to have notes outside my Bible, not inside. Charts, timelines, maps, book intros, the text, and very wide margins are what I prefer actually in the pages of my Bibles. That’s what I meant by “serious” study. I read commentary notes as my last step after taking notes, doing word studies and looking at cross references. It’s too tempting to have those notes right there, just hanging around on the page for me, lol!
      And compared to what they offered on the SRT, the HRT has more actually useful tools. Maybe “deep” study was the wrong word choice. I meant “useful for actual study.” 🤓

    Surprisingly my Micron PN and 005's don't bleed through and ghosting is not terrible. I think it could have been the ink and the darkness of the ink they used when printing that caused the intensity of the ghosting. For me, I can live with it because I love the simplicity of the helps and how helpful they are to new and older believers.

    • @kimwine6336
      @kimwine6336 4 роки тому

      I think you're probably right about the saturation of the ink they used when printing causing the obvious ghosting. I also find Micron 005's to never bleed on any paper I use them. Ghosting isn't too distracting for me. Bleeding is a huge distraction, though. Micron 005's and Crayola Twistables have been my best friend for Bible study for 10 years.

    Thanks for this review, Randy! Yes, I agree with the opacity of the pages. I would be quite wary of making notations in the Bible, and certainly not highlighting. It's a shame because I was intrigued by the other features. Perhaps I may purchase this as a complementary resource.

    I have a notetaking bible as well, and they have to make the pages that thin so that the bible isn't unreasonably large. Notetaking bibles tend to be much bigger than regular bibles to begin with, so i think that's why the pages are so thin. But thank you so much for this review! I was looking all over UA-cam for a review this extensive.

    IMO, the PERFECT Study Bible.
    Why? It has the keys,Balcgrounds, timeliness and maps without the theological bias.
    It helps, but does not force you to think one way or the other.

    Good Review. I have this same Bible except mine is indexed. The Indexing was botched on mine, so I really need to return it. Goes along fine with the Indexing up to Romans, then haywire! Lord have mercy, the person or machine doing the Indexing must have gotten tired. 🤭 I like both the SRT and the HRT. They should combine the features of each and make another Bible with Devotionals inside - with thicker paper - in full color and call it "WE Read Truth". 🤓 (Bet no one will give me credit for that FABULOUS IDEA!)

    Thank you for sharing. What I've noticed is that Holman allowing they're Chinese publisher to provide them and inferior product. For example the Chronological Bible says that there's a concordance in the back but there isn't one. And again also in he reads Truth Bible there's not color as they said it would be. However Holman in accepted this product and selling it. I wonder why?

    The paper is strange but nice. The ghosting is not great but a yellow sharpie doesn’t bleed through or show through very much. Got this from the publisher
    The GSM for our paper is: 35gsm natural shade. 1140ppi, 79 opacity and 85 Brightness.

    If you get the non leak bible pens specifically made for writing in the Bible’s, it doesn’t leak through as much as a regular ball point would. All together this Bible is good for me!

    I was so disappointed with this Bible. If you look at the book of Exodus with the tabernacle, the furniture is not in the right spot. The lamp stand is on the right it should be on the left. And the showbread is on the left when it should be on the right. I’m huge into tabernacle symbology and types and shadows and this disappointed me.

    'She reads truth' seems to be more logical when it comes to the timeline in the introduction. As a man, I'm drawn to buy the she reads truth :s I don't get why they designed them differently, apart from the differences that are about man and woman.
    I'm dutch. Forgive my poor english.

    Having just received my copy oh she reads truth I watched your video beforehand and was expecting the ghosting to be terrible but to be honest I don’t get the fuss. I double checked when there was a big graphic and I still didn’t have an issue with reading it. I was also expecting the pages to be a pain because you mentioned they were so thin again that is not my experience. But I enjoyed your review 😀
