- On an attempt of making this '04 feel newer and look nicer, the rusty crusty frame and rear end had to be addressed. It was a fun project that I stretched out over a months time, but did it all in my own driveway with readily available products. Whole frame, and it turned out great! Hopefully it lasts a good while. I also pulled off the door moldings and fender flares to have a look under them.
Let me know what you think!

Nice job, looks good! I also like flat black but mud sticks better. I'm gonna go with semi gloss. Thanks for posting
Very nice brother
Gotta love Pennsylvania and the rust. Doing my 03’ Tahoe Z71 frame come Spring. Yours turned out really nice.
Sure is awesome lol.
Looks good bro. I did something very similar to mine. I painted it with rustoleum flat black. A black painted frame and rear axel is such a nice touch on a truck. Really makes it pop. I would stay away from anything rubberized. It traps moisture and accelerates rust.
Thanks for the walk through sorta video, it looks really good. I’m gonna do this on my bronco but I need to do it soon but great video
I have a question, i knownit sounds dumb, but where you put the jack stands, how do yoy clean that up and paint it, you are gonna have a rust spot there
I just wired them clean, spotted them in with the same spray paints of primer and paint. Blended just fine.
Going to get mine down to metal spray etch primer and gloss black spray paint
Looks good! Not looking forward doing the frame on my ‘05 Duramax as well.....
what exhaust it that? I run stock cats and true dual exhaust with no mufflers
Gotta love the good ol Pennsylvania rust. I just did the frame of my truck yesterday too with the Rust-Oleum flat black. The krylon does look a little better
Lol yeah man. Its funny with how clean it looks now then the rockers are rotted hahah. I'm going to make an attempt at a full rocker repair, gonna be fun!
@@DarrenWS6 lol my rockers are just as bad. Maybe a little worse.
Nice video. Where are you at in pa roughly?
Mansfield PA area.
@@DarrenWS6 I’m about 2 hours away from you in Snyder county
Did you ever tune the 04 to get rid of the check engine light? If so who did you get the tune from?
I have not tuned it yet, haven't been driving it much. I will inquire to Blackbear Performance for a mail order tune for a bit. I may be going forward with building the 6.0L LQ9 engine I have for it ( cam and refresh ) and have it dyno tuned at that point.
Wat spray bottle did you use
If you mean the aerosol products, they are listed in the description.
harder for me, i have stainless steel brake lines and I aint painting them
Are those wheels 10 or 12 wife
20x10.
you wont push my Bilstien shocks up like that, lol, no way
I can do it to my 5100s on my 06 Duramax.
@@DarrenWS6 uggg not me, i took one off and had to use a jack to push it into place, i had no help, it was horrible
any update ?
It has held up decent. The back half has somewhat flaked off. The front silver crossmember started getting rusty.
@@DarrenWS6 appreciate the fast and helpful response 👍
@@sedonan548 if I was to do it over with another product, por15 for sure. I have sold this truck since and even my diesel is gone, but I have two new trucks and some projects planned for them as well. Por15 will be on the plan for frame work.
Not looking forward to doing my truck lol.
Oh yeah man it took some time. If I had the income to go all.out I would have pulled it all apart and done por15. But this definitely did well. That Krylon did look much nicer and more original thought.
DarrenWS6 Thats ideally what is like to do is Por15 the whole frame
