I am just a mess. My 50th Birthday is Nov 21. I have always had a small waist and when I felt to heavy the weight just fell off. I no longer get a period. Now I feel like if I go on a diet, i will guarantee to gain weight. It seems to settle in my belly where it never has before. Right now I am the heaviest I have EVER been.......EVEN PREGNANT.! !!! I am so embarrassed. Sorry to take up your time. Thanx for letting me cry on your shoulder. Much 💞 and more 🍀
Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1998 insulin dependent for over 15 years. Took control by diet change, weight loss and discipline. Doctor took me off insulin in 2012 and I remain non insulin dependent in 2021. A1C less than 7 Not easy but necessary. I'm determined, by the way I just turned 70 on New Year Eve 2020.
Insulin resistance is REAL. I was diagnosed as a type II diabetic a year ago. I started fasting and following a low carb high fat diet. My elevated sugars were under control in 2 weeks! I am no longer considered diabetic, my high blood pressure is gone, my swollen ankles are gone, I don't pee every hour! So thankful for you tubers like you that share such GOOD information.
What is frequent urination? I urinate three times a night and often have a period when I don't, until I eat in th e afternoon, adding up to about 6 or 7 times in 24 hrs. I thought that was insanely frequent, as I never counted before.
I thought I was going to the bathroom often because I drink so much water...but I can see I am extra thirsty...I am struggling to lose weight as I have been exercising and intermittent fasting and no results at all😕 now I get it.
Cut the fructose addiction, do Keto and intermittent fasting alongside vitamins , minerals and natural herbs and you will reverse it in a few weeks or so.
(For me) Yes 1. Abdominal fat Yes 2. swollen ankles Sometimes 3. hunger after eating Sometimes 4. sugar cravings A little 5. dark skin patches No 6. frequent urination No 7. extreme thirst Yes 8. irregular menstrual cycle Like 1 tag 9. skin tags No 10. elevated blood sugar
You're the first person to mention the dark skin, which I had under both of my cheeks for a long time. Now that I have been doing Keto for a year and lost 50lbs, the dark gray cheeks are gone. Thanks for all you do Kait!
@@fxmcreations1209 i am still doing keto now. I am not going back to sugar. I walk and bike and do some resistance training. But i need to do more weights. But i am in better shape at 60 than i was at 30 by a long shot.
@@lilac.love.letters I don't believe my armpits were dark, but definitely on my face, which disappeared with Keto. Skin tags will stop forming as well.
Why aren’t doctors telling us this!?! I’ve been fighting with my weight, heavy periods, extreme tiredness after eating, frequent urination, and skin tags my whole life! Thank u for posting this info
They get taught and indoctrinated in university. It's not necessarily their fault but the system. Furthermore they get fed with the idea of science but the institutions hide the research. My daughter is a doctor and I can honestly say it's not that simple. She really believes what she believes. They wake up when they start having the symptoms and issues themselves. I was at a really good doctor here in SA ( now practicing in usa or Canada) with heart pains. He put me on strong pain killers. Only now ten years afterwards I found out that I have a soy allergy which makes me short of breath which affects my heart. Now soy free and heart pain free.
I have PCOS, and I’ve already lost 45lbs and lowered my blood pressure back down to healthy by doing a low carb diet and intermittent fasting. Thanks for sharing good information. 😊😊
That's encouraging to hear, well done! I have PCOS too and I've recently been put on high blood pressure medication. I've never had issues with this before, however my weight has crept up and up over the years so it's down to that, I am the heaviest I've ever been and it sucks!
WOW..I am 51 been having these issues for 10 years, General physician, Endocrinologist never used the word Insulin resistance, today you just made me cognizant to a problem, your explanation made me realize the real problem and how to solve it. Words cant express how grateful I am for this and you taking the time to do it, your saving lives I hope you know that.
Wow, I've had type 2 diabetes for 10 years and no doctors or dieticians ever told me this information. I learned more in this 10 minute video than in the last 10 years. Now I understand why I can't get my A1C below 7.1 - all those little snacks are probably the worst thing I could have done. I'm so glad I watched this video, thanks for posting this helpful information.
I have also had T2 for ten years and no medic told me that it could be reversed. I also used to snack a lot. I found out about weight loss and intermittent fasting a few months ago and as a result I have reduced my fasting glucose to 6.1 mmol (normal is below 5.5) and I am on course to get it to normal in a few weeks. I will still have some insulin resistance, but I think I can fix that as well if I keep going.
I guess the takeaway is doctors will try to fix you after you break, but they won't help you at all to avoid getting there. Most doctors have very little professional training in nutrition. My doctor ran and ate granola (the worst) until he got prancreatic cancer and checked out. Their general lack of knowledge of nutrition today is a true crime and black stain upon the entire validity of the medical profession.
Im about to cry.... I stumbled into this video, scrolling across YT... I have been dealing with my weight for so many years now. It doesn't matter how often I tried to reduce it, I lost some water but thats it. I have 8 of the 9 symptoms. I will make an appointment right next week. If this is really my problem... I will feel so released cause then I finally know how to change my life. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Also, there is a condition that makes it almost impossible to lose weight. It's called Lipedema. You should review the information on that. The symptoms are similar to IR but not related to IR.
Kait is 100% correct here, Rebecca. I suggest also some of the other Keto channels. They are presenting the true science of nutrition. Be aware that the SAD diet is dangerously unhealthy, and exists only to sell bulk chemical factory generated and processed food "products". Eating fat doesn't make you fat, eating bulk carbohydrates does. they DO feed bulk grains (carbohydrates) to cattle, to fatten them up for market. The food and drug mega-corporations spend many billions of dollars on promotion, misinformation and bribery to sell their health damaging products. There are people online paid to misinform and mislead. If they teach and preach low-fat for instance, you can be sure that they've been misled or are seeking to mislead. It's so sad that such behavior is not easily criminally chargeable. My favorite Keto channels include Dr Eric Berg, and Dr Sten Ekberg. Hope this helps.
@Homos R Perverts Against Nature you are very wrong with that. I live keto since 2 years and nothing helped me more than that. Your comment is absolutly disqualifying for everyone that suffers under their weight. Its the carbs and white sugar that is bad, not the good fats. But who am i talking to.... your homophobic nickname gives already away what kind of person you are. Keep judging. You will be judged by god later. Have a good day.
@@amisoftau2659 thank you dear. Im already on ketogenic lifestyle since 2019. On and off i gotta admit tho. But once i fall into ketosis i feel amazing. I still have some symptoms that makes my life harder. And only the keto diet doesnt fix that. I need to look further into it. And thats why i am so thankful for this video. If i go to the docs they simply tell me that im fat and should do a diet... that im on keto since 2 years and lost weight - they dont care. Its more that im stuck after loosing water. Which frustrates me. My body is a rebel and it is on a strike haha. I have 8 of the 9 symptoms in this video and 4 of them significantly strong in appearance. Additional i have a very very hard hairloss since about 6 months Which will end in a bald head if it keeps going on like this. But still doctors told me "you are just fat, nothing else" - I never heard that beeing fat makes you loose hair, sleepless, having periods once every 3 months and so on. I knew it was something else that also had to be going on. Cause even that i changed to keto - those things didnt change, some got even worse.
*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*
2 and 3 year olds can most certainly get diabetes - type 1 diabetes, which is the autoimmune version of the disease. If your child is drinking and peeing excessively, please have her checked by a doctor. My son was diagnosed at 3 years old, also looking and acting perfectly healthy - other than being incredibly thirsty and peeing all the time. He started bedwetting after being weaned etc. Please check if at all unsure!
Great video! I am a type 1 diabetic, diagnosed at 41 (long story) but legit traditional “juvenile” diabetes. Maintaining ketosis is super challenging. Stress can seriously impact my blood sugar and pull me right out.
I am def insulin resistant!!I had reflux so bad too!! I started cutting out sugar n carbs...eat mostly meat, eggs n bacon, some cheese...7 of these went away with in a few weeks. Several skin tags fell off ON THEIR OWN!! SO awesome. My energy is through the roof (after the inital 6 weeks) and I feel amazing. My blood sugar, blood pressure etc tests are perfect...I am 58 yr old woman
Im 58 too and although i eat a lot less than before the 50s, my weight is slowly going up :( almost 69 kg... Im afraid of eating so much animal proteins as i also have high cholesterol...
I have changed my diet at 57, lost 25 lbs and take junior ASA and ozempic 5mg per week and feel great and sleep well, I am a heart attack survivor and have turned things around for the better! Thanks Kait for your helpful information, learning goes along with health!!!
40 years old and just recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The lifestyle disease. Thank you so much for sharing this video! Very helpful and informative!
Wow, this is eye opening!!!! I had all of these symptoms and I had bariatric surgery four years ago. Today, I weigh under 110 pounds and I am no longer pre-diabetic or have to take medication for high cholesterol, depression, or high blood pressure. I am the healthiest I have ever been, but I still suffer from swollen ankles, skin discoloration, and skin tags. Very informative video!!!!
Exactly the same for me! I was always a breakfast-skipper but people nagged me to death about. When I started eating breakfast that's when most of my problems started. Now I'm back to skipping breakfast & practicing intermittent fasting. No snacking. It works.
@@gigistarlings2729 hi gigi, do u have diabetes? If so, has intermittent fasting. Helped you? I've been told about fasting and Ive always thought that with diabetes u have to eat at a certain schedule and snack small throughout the day... Please let me know. Thank you!
@@pandulce579 No, I do not officially have Diabetes. I have insulin resistance and have been “borderline” for many years. Almost everyone in my family gets Type 2 Diabetes at some point, and I am trying hard to avoid it. Must try harder since last A1C was 6.4. Need consistent exercise but Fibromyalgia and arthritis make it difficult.
Looking back i had a lot of the signs you mention in your video. I had gestational diabetes with both my pregnancies and really struggled losing weight after my last pregnancy. I started on the ketogenic diet/ working out 3 days a week, I managed to drop 30 lbs in two years. But totally plateaued after that initial loss. I spent the following year trying to figure out why I wasn't able to lose any more weight. Finally i consulted with a naturopathic doctor who suggested I added fasting to my lifestyle. First I did 16:8 then gradually shifted to omad. This was like magic to my body. After three years of struggling I finally started to lose the weight. I averaged about 1 pound a week and now I'm almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight!
@@balla2828 So i think it has to do with the glucose already stored in your body, so even if you stop carbs, and you start fasting or exercising, your body still needs some form of energy to function (otherwise you'd probably die in your sleep or pass out during a run)so your body is now tapping into its stored bank to use all the glucose stored and because of this the insulin kicks up as well again. i know it sounds annoying but Jason fung here on youtube explained this is not necessarily bad because well...its about time we lose some of that excess stored glucose and fat. I think its just a phase as your new journey begins to insulin sensitivity starts. Things will even out. Watch Jason Fung he explains this very well.
You have no idea the relief I feel after watching this!! I have gone to so many doctors and this one video makes more sense to me than any of them ever did! Thank you sooooooo much!!!! 😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
I guess what he meant is that once you have insulin resistance, you will always have the tendency in you. If we go back to eating a diet high in refined carbs and sugars, our blood sugar will rise again. It is not a one-time solution but now a chronic issue to be managed for our lifetimes.
I got diagnosed with insulin resistance a month ago but have been having the symptoms for years. My doctors tested me multiple times and said I wasn't. Now I'm taking Ozempic and it's helped so much. I'm losing weight so much easier now.
Hi! Thank You for making videos for the public. I have PCOS but have never been close to diabetic. I never tested positive on my three gestational diabetic testing (even though I more than doubled in weight all three pregnancies) and when my doctor checked me randomly I was constantly in the low side. After a hospital stay where they starved me abs only fed me through an IV with liquids, antibiotics and prednisone. When I got out after five days I had lost 15 pounds and I was already skinny when I was admitted (Crohn’s flare up and bacterial infection). I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s a couple of years back after gaining 40 pounds in three weeks abs testing. I’m on medications for my thyroid and when I got out from the hospital the sane thing happened to me again, gained a ton of weight in only a few weeks. I thought it was my thyroid but the doctor didn’t think so. This was September of last year abd ever since I have been extremely fatigued and so tired neither my body or brain functions like it used to. I have a lot of pain too and are often stuck in bed. During a check up my glucose level was 240. This was after my scoliosis and the nerve damage caused me to be bedridden for weeks and I had to resolve to 30 mg of prednisone per day. I received help from a dietitian and my doctor diagnosed me with steroid induced diabetes. I had to watch every carb for a couple of months but it was difficult being a vegetarian, almost vegan and also being on a low fiber diet due to Crohn’s. I continued to eat berries daily. My blood sugar went down and now that the prednisone is out of my body so is the diabetes. But what I realized after a lot of research is that being on a high protein, low carb diet that’s often high in fat is not a good way to live. We actually do need carbs (like my berries) for healthy antioxidants. Eating a keto type diet does not cure the disease, it only masks it. What everyone needs to learn is to eat “lagom” on everything with a variation of healthy foods (lagom is a Swedish word that means “just enough” basically). In my case my insulin resistance was not preventable as You said. It was not caused by poor diet or a lack of healthy living. It was a response to many auto immune diseases, prednisone and an incredible amount of stress on my body during a short period of time. I am not writing this to argue with what You said, but simply give You another scenario and patient to look at. My doctors and dietician agrees with my views on the “lagom” diet that includes healthy carbs and avoids too much similar unhealthy fat. I hope You May want to take this into consideration and I am open to answer any questions You may have. Sincerely, M.
Thanks for sharing this because I've been on the Keto diet for months and have not lost any weight. Im trying to listen to my body and am going to switch to low carb and low fat and see if that helps.
@@Amy-wu4sr you miss the point of my post lol. I just don’t understand those that have to be negative when there is nothing to thumbs down about this UA-cam video. I think they are just trolls that like putting the thumbs down.
My blood sugar is high - I found out when my Doctor ordered a fasting glucose test. Now on blood sugar meds, Metformin, my energy is more steady, and I’m finally losing weight in my stomach. I could not figure out why I wasn’t losing weight while exercising daily and eating a healthy diet. It really is that important.
Maybe cause your healthy diet is 4000 calories a day. They did not tell you this cause they wanted to sell you a medicine. They wont make money on telling you to fast or eat 1200 calories a day
@@Itachii0707 , are you a medical professional or a scientist? Why are you giving medical advice to strangers on the internet? Metformin is necessary for some people who would be diabetic af otherwise and wold risk impairing their vision or losing a part of their limb.
My intuition is (I am not a medical professional) that it might be helpful to check with several sources and at least two dietitians/nutritionists if your diet really is healthy in terms of diabetis prevention or is it only a bit healthier than your peers' diet or the mainstream diet in your country (especially if you live in the USA). I thought for the longest time my diet wasn't that bad but now, after my insulin resistance diagnosis and some self-education, I realise I still ate far too much high-GI products. In my country, people eat tons of bread and tons of potatoes, for example. Hardly anybody would consider it unhealthy because it's so mainstream and part of the culture. "Normal" and "harmful" don't go together, right? ... Right!? ;)
Needed this! I have brown patches on my inner thighs, been carnivore since January if this year, before I was a high carb vegan. Praying that I can heal quickly. Love your channel, thank you.💜
All my life I've had irregular menstrual cycles. I've always weight lifted and was able to push more weights than the average guy at the gym (now I know why). But it was always hard to lose weight. Then 2008 and other life circumstances, I wasn't able to pay for a gym membership. It took a long time to get back to the gym, then covid19. But now I have a home gym, and I've been exercising for 3 months and only managed to lose 7 lbs. I have high blood pressure, and I can feel that I am on track to diabetes. I don't want either, and I don't want to be fat anymore. I started getting really depressed...then your video. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It means the world to me, and the woman I married, who was worried about me.
Thanks, I really enjoyed your video. I an insulin resistant for over 20 years now. I found that when I slept well and follow the right eating habits and foods I feel wonderful, but when I don’t it throws my whole system out of balance. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
@@samanthahi4541 you don't have to eat low carb forever. But if you go back to the diet that caused your IR in the first place of course it is going to happen again. Once you reverse it stick to whole foods 👍
@@samanthahi4541 if you eat pretty good like plenty of veggies, fruits, grains, and know what you are eating, you don't really need to care about low carb after fixing your insulin resistance. Just make sure it's not simple carbs, but complex carbs.
What a blessing to find you ❤my daughter has pcos. I fast and eat in a 6 hour window. It is doing wonders for me. The problem is I would love my daughter to be on board. Every one knows how hard is is to convince someone you love a better way. I didn’t like being told what to do. I figured it out myself. I trying just to show her by example. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much for posting this!! Reminds me to get back on track. Keto kept me off of Metformin. I’ve been off track and all the symptoms are back. Time to get back to it!! God bless you.
This makes sense. I show a few of these signs. I've noticed High Fructose Syrup makes me hungry. When I eliminate the syrups esp., high fructose I'm not as hungry though out the day. And soft drinks make me more thirsty and pee more. I'm 90% done with both of those and feeling better. Your video is eye opening. Thank you.
Whole Foods is the key. Nothing in a bag, in a box or in a can (unless it’s canned vegetables, but cook them yourself). Just food from the perimeter of the supermarket.
I wish I had known some of this back 30 years ago. Doctors don't really know how to talk to patients and inform them of their options and symptoms. Doctors just go by the numbers (cholesterol, blood sugar, triglycerides, etc.). I have had skin tags for years. Never has a doctor told me why I have them, and I have asked. And never did a Doctor tell me my abdominal fat was due to insulin resistance. It was always, "well some people have a higher/lower metabolism" type of answer.
You are awesome! I have insulin resistance for over 8 years, and I was managing it through low carb and low sugar diet. Everything was okay until COVID and divorce come to my life last year... (that is an excuse, of course... but that is what really happened)... Then I feel for eating too many carbs and sugar... The results you can imagine... Now I am back to taking control of my health again. Your channel is AWESOME! I am learning a lot! Congrats!
I suffer with this and my doctor put me on the keto diet. I've been on it for 3 weeks and can feel the difference. If you are suffering with it and decide to change things the side effects of changing your diet suck. Head aches. What I like to call non pregnancy morning sickness, tired all the time. If you suffer with the symptoms ask for a blood test. Great video. Not many people know and just think its normal. Since doing it I've lots 25lbs.
The hardest part about frequent urination is the healthy amount of water that needs to be consumed will make you urinate frequently. Thank you so much for this video it has helped me understand that all those are connected.
So true. You cant win on this one. On a hot day and I have to be out all day on buses running here and there, I do not drink at all because having to find a toilet every hour is way to stressful. So I become dehydrated and that leads to other problems.
Doctors (MDs) have failed me at every turn. Surgeons, pain specialists (needed due to malpractice) even dentists. A retired doctor told me once "If you want to be healthy, stay away from doctors as much as possible".
@@ursamagickmt672 lol well thank God I always hated doctors and hospitals then. Never liked them. Cold unwelcoming environments. Wait for hours and pay through the nose.

This video really helped explain to me my particular situation and why I have been having such a hard time with weight loss. I now know the proper steps to reversing this Insulin Resistance and hopefully it will result in some weight dropping for myself and being healthier overall. Thanks!!
I was gaining a lot of weight and I was way hungrier than I'd ever been, abdominal fat, etc. even though I was exercising and trying to lose weight. I stopped eating sugar including fruit and it's been a month and I've already lost a good amount of weight including in my abdomen and my hunger is finally back to how it was when I was thinner. I get full when I eat again and I don't want to eat for a while afterward. All I did was stop eating sugary foods including fruit and I don't eat at night and I feel so much better and I'm finally losing weight. It's so much easier than anything I've ever tried and it works.
I was diagnosed with pcos when I was younger and no one ever taught me about it. Now I get tested for diabetis every half year, because I have insulin resistance. And that's it. If it is not the diabetes yet, it seems to be not worth treating. Thank you for this video.
I had no idea I had PCOS until I started trying to get pregnant 4 years ago. Thinking back, I showed signs an high school (over 17 years ago) but the doctor’s answer was to throw me on birth control without any questions. I did need ovulation induction meds to have my sons, even after IF/keto, but I wished I knew all this sooner!
@@reni1076 Yeah same here. Have gotten the full program. Gaining weight, facial hair, hair loss and so on. My gynecologist back then just gave me birth control with a larger amount of estrogen and that was that. Now I live with the consequences.
I have pre diabetes. When my doctor told me she wasn’t concerned, gave wrong advice but ten years later I figured it out on my own and am on a keto diet.
I find that hard to imagine.I have tons of skin tags and it is either burn them off or cut them off! Are you stating that you changed your diet and they just fell off???
I lost mine and the dark marks under my arms(I've had them since I was 7) in days after going on keto! But what sucks is it turns out the illness I tried to correct with keto was that my gallbladder died...
That would explain why my skin tags disappeared..I had them all over my neck, and chest. I did keto for about 3 months, but didn't think there was a connection, or noticed when exactly they disappeared, until I did...Huh..Now I know why.
After seeing this video I think I might be insulin resistant because I have PCOS and many of the symptoms. Dieting and working out only made me lose water weight also. I’m going take these tips
Thank you for mentioning skin tags. These are so common and are regarded as minor annoyances by most people, and they even sell “do it yourself“ removal kits from the drugstore. This is a big one that people really needed to be aware of.
It was a fluke I landed on this video, but you have given me answers to what my GP hasn't been able to for decades, despite chasing him up on it over and over.
I’ve been diagnosed insulin resistance for at least 10 years - and it’s been touted as a ‘possible’ reason for my inability to lose weight, but I’ve never been presented with any sort of solution. I followed a keto diet and had some success on that - but hubby got worried that it wasn’t a good idea long term so I stopped and have struggled to restart. Yet when I was on it, I found it easy and felt the best I had for years mentally. Haven’t had any periods for 20 yrs. I’m 53
Go back to Keto, or at least low carb, cut out all sugars. Processed foods, and simple carbs, rice, bread, pasta, use replacement like almond flour, coconut flour! You have to do this for your health please! Good luck.
Higher blood pressure is another symptom, high LdL cholesterol, liver enzymes and water retention in general. Blood sugar also goes up when you have flu. And then there is the dawn syndrome. I went to doctors over the years with clear symptoms and they kept saying that nothing is wrong with me. Thanks. I ended up with insulin resistance. I reversed the condition and my blood sugar went up again due to stress, but I won't give up.
Triglyceride to HDL ratio is a better indicator of insulin resistance (and heart disease) than high LDL alone. High LDL seems to be benign if trigs are low and HDL is high ua-cam.com/video/w9A7_8OJq6k/v-deo.html
The point she makes about sleeping well is a big one. I always feel the bloat and the swelling after a red-eye or just a late night of work that doesn’t go away until I am fully rested. It’s like I stop digesting food.

Omg I didn't even know this is a thing. I just naturally discovered that eating less carbs helps my metabolism, after so many failed dieting attempts this was the only thing that worked for me. I started eating all types of meat and vegetables and I started losing weight without even exercising which was mind-blowing to me, especially because I ate same size portions like I did before, when I was gaining weight. I am never again relying on carbs as my energy source.
😯 what a great video this was that just showed up on UA-cam for me! Kait, you did an awesome job explaining all aspects comprehensively in this short video.👏🏽 ❤️ This video guided me and I will follow your advice. Thanks!
I am taking berberine. Have been doing keto but not extreme keto over the last 5 months. I do kettle bell and barbell workouts. I took flavored cream and sugar out of my coffee. Discovered instant coffee is best for me to drink black with cream bc of mild flavor. Vitacup is my favorite. I have seen a massive difference in reduction of belly fat. I feel great and I am craving less sweets. I do not buy snacks only thing I buy is lesser evil popcorn and pumpkin seeds. Lots avocado. I’ve adjusted to this as my lifestyle and I am very pleased! I was recently diagnosed with IR, and now I’m trying to learn everything about it. My mom recommended that I watch your channel because she feels your content would help me the best. And damn, I scored 9/9 on the list.
Don't get too scared, its relatively easily managed with a fairly gentle diet change and light exercise with some advice from a good dietitian and physiotherapist I got diagnosed about this time last year and by sticking to the diet + exercise it was more or less back to normal blood sugar levels in 5-6 months.
@@zahraali5919 I've got some fairly severe cardio-pulmonary problems so exercise is essentially 'what I can manage' and usually involves short walks every 1-2 days with care not to over-exert myself, but you do have to get moving so to speak to keep everything running in some sort of order. For healthier people that aren't massively unfit, you're probably best to see an actual physiotherapist and get some hints on what 'your body' is capable of in terms of a workout routine. I can do some weights and exercise stuff in addition to walking but have been warned that not to exceed a certain set of repetitions for more than 10-15min, rest and then do a different routine. With the diet, its as much about how you eat as what you eat. For me, I was told to even our my blood sugar levels over the day, so I must have breakfast, lunch and dinner at regular hours each day, despite a lifetime of skipping breakfast and sometimes lunch, then splitting that up with snacks- all that stuff is right out! Basically, having a couple of large meals a day is not good as the sugar levels spike and your body ends up having to try and cope with too much after each meal. So keep the portion sizes somewhere in the small-moderate range and stick to the times, don't fast as that tends to send the body a mixed message about when its supposed to absorb fats and nutrients and will condition itself to that behavior. What I can eat however, gets a bit more complicated A lot of that covers some fairly large amount of the plant based carbs- potato, rice, pumpkin, carrots, corn and most root vegetables... yeah, kiss them goodbye. You can have 'a little' of them in terms of a portion on a plate, but your days of swimming in pumpkin soup and great mounds of potato mash are over. Also on the list (yes, it gets worse!) that gets shoved out the door are pretty much all the breads, pastries, cakes, pasta, potato chips, corn based snacks, large amounts of chocolate anything with very high salt content. You can have some bread, but make sure its not highly refined, in small amounts, multigrain- I have found multigrain flatbread to be the lowest n terms of carbs per serve, so you can make wraps for lunch with those. (check the info on their contents each brand) Mostly I'm to keep hydrated, have larger portions of protein, fibre and green vegetables of say 1/3rd each, then the last 1/3 can be a small amount of carbs and fats Milk and nuts are ok, as are most of the simpler breakfast cereals without a lot of sugar in them (check packaging- lots of sugar/carbs = bad) and most of the meats, beans and other types of green, leafy vegetables and salad stuff is completely fine. Highly processed meats like salami, hotdogs and some sausages you want to keep an eye on due to the higher sodium and fat levels in them, so use sparingly in your serves
Like those commercials with this newly diagnosed thyroid eye disease saying to buy this and that to cure it 😭😆 lol. Just do keto, you'll lose weight faster.
Great video! Thank you! My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few years ago and I panicked. But, we worked hard and changed everything and brought his numbers down so much that he didn't even show in the diabetes range anymore even after going off meds. Meds gave him some odd never pain effects. I've not shown as diabetic, but a lot on this list apply to me. Though I have many other health issues such as RA, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, new knees and many surgeries...ptsd , anxiety disorder , chronic pain from the car accident that shattered my lumbar spine at 16(over 30yrs ago) and so on...sleep is a problem for sure. I've wanted to try the intermittent fasting as some days I can completely go without eating....but, typically I get very very nauseated and shaky with headaches if I go too long without eating a small something. Also, when I go without, as soon as I do eat my stomach rebels. So, trying to figure something out. Only ifno I typically get is to "just lose weight and everything will get better"...no as easy as they make it sound when some days I can't stand or walk, and it isn't a cure all especially if there's more going on but you can see on their face that my being fat puts me in this category of being ignored. Frustrating. Anyway, I'll look at the other videos for sure. Thank a bunch!
Good info! Not diagnosed with insulin resistance, but I have some of the symptoms. Did have severe insomnia for many years and that likely contributed. Working on getting healthier now, doing intermittent fasting, increasing healthy fats and reducing carbs.
I am diabetic. 100% insulin dependant. So I see a dietician monthly. And since I got ill, which caused my diabetes, I have been told to eat more often. Rather than not often. I eat three small low carb meals and two low carb snack. I make sure to balance protein and carbs properly. And you will lose weight and stop insulin resistance. Thomas De Lauer has a fantastic channel here on YT. He explains the science behind proper diet in a straight forward manner that is easy to understand. Most of his videos cover Keto diet, diabetes, recommended foods, what food you should and shouldn't eat for different problems, and he covers supplements that you should and shouldn't use and exercise. I hope this can someone else. It's helped me really get on track. 💕🙏🇺🇸
Definitely insulin resistant. I remember feeling such shame for being hungry after I just finished eating! That’s before I knew anything about carb addiction! It has been a life long struggle, I’ve had freedom from it all for 3 years now! Keto and Carnivore are the way 100%!
I love meat but never heard about the Carnivore diet. I've tried keto 3x with 3 kinds of keto pills. I found keeping carbs under 50 grams a day really hard. I haven't had bread in a year but I'm a total sugar addict. Which I never was until 5 years ago when I entered the hospital, Nursing home. Help, advice please.
I always figured my excess tummy fat was a permanent side effect from having four children. And I believed skin tags were somehow genetic bc my mom's family has had them. I'll be mentioning some of these things to my doctor at my next appointment. Thank you.
It doesn't mean your doctor will agree. I have read about the link between the skin tags on the neck and insulin resistance, and talked about this to my doctor and she said that it had no link. But as I like to check for myself, I went to pubmed and found studies linking both. So they don't know everything. And yes, in my country, nutrition is an opcional subject in the medical degree. It's ridiculous...
If you get high blood sugar they'll just throw you on pills. Eat low carb, intermittent fast and fo what you can to lose weight. That will actually help you not pills.
What I've considered with things that "run in the family" is this.... Your diet is handed down from your family typically. *Secret family recipes* and all. Just a thought that occurred to me a while back.
According to the comments, I was supposed to notice your eyebrows...(?)...however, I was busy paying attention to what you were saying. Thank you for the information. It's helps...alot!
I had PCOS as a teenager and have noticed an increase in dark patches and skin tags as I’ve gotten older. Bloating is obvious after too many carbs and these other signs are blowing my mind. Thank you.
My brother came to my home bc his emergency room didn’t treat his foot that had an ulcer on it .. I had him to come to my hospital.. well he ended up amputated part of his foot and that other hospital released him saying no issues just elevate it 🤦🏽♀️.. he ended up on insulin and it was not good. However, within a year he’s off the insulin and takes nothing gor it now .. he is eating differently keto/carnivore.. an he’s stable .. he was lucky not to loose his entire foot .. he’s doing great and no more insulin or metforman .. he’s also loosing weight snd feeling great now too .. thank you fir sharing such important information..
I have been diagnosed just 2 months ago. I have many of the symptoms you describe. I am on diet with like no carbs/starches. Not even rice which I love. No bread but lots of salad, eggs, dairy, meats, fish water and more water
She's a good teacher. Pleasant, pretty informative sharing a preset manageable amount of information. I'm guessing she probably was either a Sunday school teacher or majored in education in college.
I've been taking a more serious stance of learning about my insulin resistance related to my PCOS and also just eating healthy foods and I found a lot of success with eating a produce Rich diet that is low in processed food
Really informative! under 50g of carbs/day is really hard tho, one must be motivated but eh, it will be worth it if it can reverse your insulin resistance
I solved this insulin resistance syndrome by FASTING ! I do only one meal a day and that is lunch.Eat plenty of greens, some protein and some vegetables. Avoid bread and carbs at all times. Don’t drink alcohol of any type. I lost 20lbs in 18 days. Best decision in my whole life.. allow my self one day off every -5 days to have wine, martinis and a few snacks. Next day back to the one meal a day routine. Me diabetes T2 is gone. I feel pretty, I feel happy, I feel pretty and happy and gay! !!
I completely agree with your approach. I use Alternate Day Fasting and I have lost 53 Lbs. I never felt so good. I get sloppy with the number of carbs and the fasting compensates for my sloppy efforts. I wish you well with this lifestyle, I only wish I found this lifestyle sooner. Take care.
tell about your diet to a real doctor and they'll call you crazy. one meal? Avoid carbs? What an idiot. Also, do you even have proof that you had the syndrome in the first place and that it's gone? Did you do the tests? Don't mislead people, they're gonna ruin their health because of you.
@Hineni John3:16 The ADF is a very common approach to body repairing. I did not just jump into ADF. I progressed into it. I started out with Atkins then went Keto. Saw how to eat healthy. The importance of high fat and low carb. Eating fat and not eating lean helps us to not be hungry there is a hormone that makes you not hungry. Then I went to intermittent fasting then progressed to ADF. I never felt so good. Attacking the insulin resistance feels so good. I wish you well.
Chocolate muffin . You obviously don’t realise the huge amount of science over many years behind fasting...it sounds like this is the first thing you’ve read. She doesn’t mean you eat one meal a day for the rest of your life! We’re talking here about reversing Insulin resistance which you obviously don’t understand to be so nasty. Regarding asking a Doctor, this is also a very ignorant statement. You obviously don’t know that generally Doctors get no training in nutrition or this subject of the benefits of fasting, they generally don’t know more than the general public unless they take a special interest in the subject. In fact I was recently amazed by how fantastic my GP looked after she’d been practising Intermittent fasting for 3 months so she obviously had an interest, did her research and was very pleased with the stunning results. If you want to educate yourself one source of many is research Doctor Micheal Moseley. This is where my GP learned the science behind intermittent fasting.

@Lexi bear Not true. Type 2 is totally curable. Research UA-cam videos from Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Robert Lustig.
What is frequent urination?
I urinate three times a night and often have a period when I don't, until I eat in th
e afternoon, adding up to about 6 or 7 times in 24 hrs. I thought that was insanely frequent, as I never counted before.
I thought I was going to the bathroom often because I drink so much water...but I can see I am extra thirsty...I am struggling to lose weight as I have been exercising and intermittent fasting and no results at all😕 now I get it.
Rockstar!!!
Cut the fructose addiction, do Keto and intermittent fasting alongside vitamins , minerals and natural herbs and you will reverse it in a few weeks or so.

Because doctors are hand in glove with big pharma. They want to pump us full of drugs, not heal us.
This is great advice.
Me to. 😞
Amazing! 👏 Keep it up!
That's encouraging to hear, well done! I have PCOS too and I've recently been put on high blood pressure medication. I've never had issues with this before, however my weight has crept up and up over the years so it's down to that, I am the heaviest I've ever been and it sucks!
I just posted a video that explains the link between PCOS and insulin resistance 🙂 ua-cam.com/video/26_mLZbC23w/v-deo.html
Ok so THIS is why I am here. PCOS. I'm learning about ketosis and this video pops up. The more knowledge I can gain, the better.
Go girl! I have pcos, what a pain in the ass
🤗🤗
So what's the solution?
🙏🙏
Please I will like to know more on that*
None. The carbs in fruit are broken down into glucose (sugar) and raise blood sugar.
She probably need minerals to keep the the water in the sistem.

What is omad?
OMAD = "One Meal A Day"
This is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
How or why does exercising raise your blood sugar levels?? Seems super counter intuitive. Can someone explain??

I guess what he meant is that once you have insulin resistance, you will always have the tendency in you. If we go back to eating a diet high in refined carbs and sugars, our blood sugar will rise again. It is not a one-time solution but now a chronic issue to be managed for our lifetimes.
This is such a clear, no BS video! Thank you for this, more people around the globe need to hear it! 💪🏻

"Normal" and "harmful" don't go together, right? ... Right!? ;)
Trulicity is really good, imo.
Needed this! I have brown patches on my inner thighs, been carnivore since January if this year, before I was a high carb vegan. Praying that I can heal quickly. Love your channel, thank you.💜

Yikes I have all of them
All my life I've had irregular menstrual cycles.
If you reverse your insulin resistance dont go back to the way you used to eat!
So it's really not reversible but sustainable? You have to live a low carb life forever? Personally I love low carb n how I feel.
@@samanthahi4541 you don't have to eat low carb forever. But if you go back to the diet that caused your IR in the first place of course it is going to happen again. Once you reverse it stick to whole foods 👍
@@HealthCoachKait thank you. 😊

Very thankful for this vid! My mom accused me of developing diabetes, but I can now confirm with her it’s just depression 😬👍🏽 thank you!
@Naeou she accused you of developing diabetes? Do you have it?
She knows her subject better than a doctor. God bless her.
Congrats!
One of the best explanations I have ever heard, thank you!!!
🤗🤗
I suffer with this and my doctor put me on the keto diet. I've been on it for 3 weeks and can feel the difference. If you are suffering with it and decide to change things the side effects of changing your diet suck. Head aches. What I like to call non pregnancy morning sickness, tired all the time. If you suffer with the symptoms ask for a blood test. Great video. Not many people know and just think its normal. Since doing it I've lots 25lbs.
Go to Eat Like a Bear to alleviate you negative side effects. I think you need electrolytes.
@@kathygann7632 im actually good now. Health issues have been taken care of lost a ton of weight and feel great.
I used to have alot of these symptoms, been Keto since March and have lost 40lbs! Alot of these symptoms are gone! 😁
That is amazing Andrea! 🥳🥳
Thank you!! ❤️😁
How long did it take you to reverse it if you don’t mind me askin
After you reversed, could you eat chocolate again and still maintain the insulin in control?
my doctor told me to not do keto bc of cholesterol
Can you believe my doctor and doctors ever explained or even mentioned any of this....makes me wonder about what else we don’t know.
Docs were taught how to treat *symptoms* only at med schools. Who cares about the cause like IR?
Doctors (MDs) have failed me at every turn. Surgeons, pain specialists (needed due to malpractice) even dentists. A retired doctor told me once "If you want to be healthy, stay away from doctors as much as possible".

🙌🙌
Had the first 6. Been 9 months on keto and OMAD. Only positive stuff came after making that life change.

I was diagnosed with pcos when I was younger and no one ever taught me about it. Now I get tested for diabetis every half year, because I have insulin resistance. And that's it. If it is not the diabetes yet, it seems to be not worth treating. Thank you for this video.
Same here i which i add this knowledge back then i wouldn't have gain 130 pound 😭😭😭
@@bertram9852 feel you. This ' I wish I had known sooner' turns around in my head very often when it comes to that topic.
I have pre diabetes. When my doctor told me she wasn’t concerned, gave wrong advice but ten years later I figured it out on my own and am on a keto diet.
I used to have skin tags and just thought it was a family trait since my mother always had them. After 2 months on keto they were gone.
👏👏
I find that hard to imagine.I have tons of skin tags and it is either burn them off or cut them off! Are you stating that you changed your diet and they just fell off???
I lost mine and the dark marks under my arms(I've had them since I was 7) in days after going on keto! But what sucks is it turns out the illness I tried to correct with keto was that my gallbladder died...
Because skin tags are excess fats.
My videos on PCOS specifically might help you as well ♥️ ua-cam.com/video/26_mLZbC23w/v-deo.html All the best!
Have you checked out Dr Jason Fung channel in UA-cam.
Same. I’m a few years in and know somethin is up and it just clicked the other day that this is what is happening

Drink apple cider vinegar at night mixed with water to help with Dawn effect in the morning.
I appreciate that you keep your videos short and sweet and to the point. Thank you.
The point she makes about sleeping well is a big one. I always feel the bloat and the swelling after a red-eye or just a late night of work that doesn’t go away until I am fully rested. It’s like I stop digesting food.
No one ever talks about how the cells are not receiving the nutrients they need because they are no longer accepting insuline.

Don't get too scared, its relatively easily managed with a fairly gentle diet change and light exercise with some advice from a good dietitian and physiotherapist
I got diagnosed about this time last year and by sticking to the diet + exercise it was more or less back to normal blood sugar levels in 5-6 months.
Would you be kind enough to share your diet chart and exercise routine
What I can eat however, gets a bit more complicated
A lot of that covers some fairly large amount of the plant based carbs- potato, rice, pumpkin, carrots, corn and most root vegetables... yeah, kiss them goodbye.
(check the info on their contents each brand)
Mostly I'm to keep hydrated, have larger portions of protein, fibre and green vegetables of say 1/3rd each, then the last 1/3 can be a small amount of carbs and fats
Milk and nuts are ok, as are most of the simpler breakfast cereals without a lot of sugar in them (check packaging- lots of sugar/carbs = bad) and most of the meats, beans and other types of green, leafy vegetables and salad stuff is completely fine.
Sehr schönes Video,einfach toll erklärt!
Diese Symptome habe ich alle bei mir entdeckt und weiß nun,was mein Problem ist.

@@veram4820 very true. Thanks for the info.

The ADF is a very common approach to body repairing.

Fuck off, brainwashed sheep.
