I moved to Calgary from Ontario last September and I am still in awe when I get to see mountains every day. Hiking in the mountains is breathtaking.
"Look at this earth we have! This is our earth!"

That hotel is crazy. You never take the same route twice or exit through the same doors twice. So beautiful.
I live in Saskatchewan and a few years ago I took a trip to Alberta and I was so blown away by the mountains and all the trees!
I always watch this video when it rains because that hotel room nook gives me such good rainy vibes
I have never cared an ounce to venture up to Canada from the US (technically I was there as a child but that doesn't count really). But now I've changed my mind. Thanks for showing us all that gorgeous scenery!

Glad you had a great time in Banff. The hotel you were in was originally the Banff Springs Hotel. It is one of the oldest hotels in the region. And it is haunted, no lie, I think there are 2 confirmed ghosts a bellboy, and a bride that wander the halls every now and again. No lie. So you are right it is like Hogwarts.
When you are out this way again if you have more time you should head farther north to Lake Louise and Jasper. Jasper is little more nature, slightly less tourist trap. And the good thing is Spring, Winter, Summer or Fall it is all beautiful country.
Yeah - it is haunted by the Bride but I have never heard about the Bellboy!? What!?!!
Also, I really like Canmore, too. Much less tourist-y.

In February I visited Banff on a snowboarding trip with my brother. Being from Florida, the views of the mountains and everything was incredible. I would most definitely go back. I loved every minute of it there.
I live in Banff and I get super desensitized to its beauty... It's nice to see how excited you were. Hope you had a great time! It gets so congested here in the summer that I actually appreciate rainy days in the summer since people tend to stay inside and us locals can get around town! 😜

This was so fun to watch for me because I live close to Banff and have been there countless times. It's so cool to go "I know where that is!!!" during a bunch of the shots. When you said "It could rain" I started laughing because out here we have a couple sayings about the weather, my favourite being 'If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes' It sounds like a joke but its really not. Just the other day it was 22C and completely over cast in the afternoon, rained like 3 times around lunch time, and by dinner time was clearing up with sun and blue skies. It has snowed in June before as well. Small price to pay for it being so beautiful though!
My husband had a meeting up there, and it was gorgeous! Where we stayed we walked right past the Banff Inn (I think). I loved it. Wasn't prepared for how cool it was up there, it was still hot in Texas. One place I wouldn't mind revisiting.

I live 2-3 hours away from Banff but... I don't go there often enough. Last time I stayed at the Lake Louise Hotel... I cannot believe you are staying at the Banff Fairmount Springs Hotel (hope I am right). That is amazing!
Now I feel like I need to go to the East Coast... as I have never been there.
Hope you were able to go to the Grizzly House Restaurant... my favourite restaurant there (expensive though).
Wow, that is so amazing that you got to spend some time at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The Fairmont hotels are so nice, it is definitely THE place to stay all over the country. Thanks for sharing your time there with us. I've only been to Banff once but it was beautiful the afternoon I got to spend there.

It's really interesting to see your reaction to Banff. Being from Calgary, you can see it all so frequently because it's only an hour away. The mountains are always breath taking, but it's easy to take them for granted. It's refreshing to see it with new eyes. Glad you had a good time out here! :)
P.S. The bird you filmed was a magpie. They're related to crows. Do you not have them in the East?
Also, most people from where I am from most people hate magpies (I personally like them because they are such brats). I was surprised that they don't have them out east? Really?
I often forget how beautiful Alberta can be and I agree, it is weird and really nice to see it with a new set of eyes. It is like when I visited relatives in Crow's Nest Pass and how amazed I was. They however were all like, "what, they are just mountains" ha ha ha.

I live in Ontario and have never seen a magpie, but I lived in England as child and they were there!!!! ! I was surprised to see that they are in other parts of Canada, neat! Not sure about the far east though

Cool! I went to Banff for my band trip and it was amazing! We went on the gondolas and to the hot springs and to the waterfall and just went shopping! Also performed at the Gazebo! 😄
So glad you enjoyed the trip! I've spent days hiking around the Rockies, and the view never gets old.
Oh, and yes, the weather in the mountains can change on a dime. I've had to endure a snowstorm in August while hiking. :)

I'm from Calgary BTW's but it sort of easy to visit Banff from time to time, as long as you don't have to stay there. Next time you have a chance to go visit the hot springs, they are awesome.
so I was in banff for a music festival and the road to the banff center (where the festival was) you could see that Harry Potter hotel and everyone would sing hedwig's theme and it was amazing especially since we were on a different mountain.
