      Glasses are but braces are only covered in certain states under medicaid (free healthcare). I feel like alot of ppl from other countries dont knw this but anyone under 18 is given free health care if their parents cant afford it, in the U.S.

      The U.K. Is the same, I think until aged 16 you get free dental care (including braces) - also in certain circumstances (low income benefits etc). So grateful for our health care here!

      Braces in most cases are purely cosmetic and unnecessary. People NEED to see on the other hand...

    My teeth were awful but in the country I used to live in I got free dental care until the age of 25. I'm 22 and had fixed braces for free when I was 20 until January this year. I used to cover my mouth and never smile with my teeth, barely spoke in public etc but you put it perfectly. I just feel pretty now. It makes 0 difference to anyone else in my life but it makes me incredibly happy.

    I think you got cavities because the trays were keeping your teeth more dry, and not letting as much saliva reach them, which helps protect against cavities so they were more susceptible to getting them! Also, your smile is dazzling now!

    I wore regular braces and I totally relate! I didn't notice until you said it but yesss I even used to speak differently too, always trying to hide them. Its SO nice to laugh and smile w/out feeling self conscious, that always snapped me out of the moment. I love my teeth now and it's made me think differently about other people's cosmetic procedures

    I had traditional braces from ages 13 to 15. When I got them taken off, I remember HATING the way my teeth looked. They were so white and noticeable! I was so used to my braces lol. But here I am, 12 years later, and I must say that having straight teeth and feeling confident with your smile is one of the BEST feelings. Congrats!

    I had the regular olde school braces and even asked my orthodontist to do invisaline but he said the amount of work that needed to be done would take twice as long to do. I am still so glad to see them in a positive light considering a lot of negative responses I have seen towards the ones you got.

    Your teeth look great! I had braces years ago, but a couple years after I got them off my wisdom teeth came in and started to move things. After I had my wisdom teeth removed I saw my orthodontist and he kindly gave me the Invisalign for free. I live in rural Ontario and the retainer cost me only $130, but you make a good point about getting frequent cleanings! I ended up with some cavities too and expensive dental cleaning bills. However my smile is probably my best feature! Glad you had a good experience!

    This video came at a really good time - i just put my downpayment on for Invisalign this week and had the digital scan done. My teeth are not that bad either and I'm also doing it for cosmetic reasons but I feel like for the rest of my life I will have amazing teeth that I can be proud of. So the little bit of time where you have to wear the braces and have a little bit of discomfort is worth it.

    Your teeth look great! I've had Invisalign now for almost 3 years on a job they said would take 13 months and would be able to finish while going abroad. It's been a painful process for only a couple of janky teeth. The Invisalign ended up messing up my bite and as a result I've had almost 3 full sets of trays ordered to try and fix it along with rubber bands. My dentist is promising it will be done this upcoming month but we will see. I'm glad it worked for you and that you spoke about it but I also hope this video lets people do their research before choosing Invisalign over braces.

    I had regular braces instead of Invisalign specifically because my orthodontist said that my time wearing them would be doubled. I had a very big overbite and a teeny jaw so I also had to get some extra teeth removed to make space for the rest. In short, make sure you ask your orthodontist all the questions you have about both options. Glad they worked for you Ang!

    This video is kind of motivating me to make my own; I put my mom through stressful times because I procrastinated and forgot to put my braces in, and had to keep my braces for almost 3 years. I think I want to make one reminding people of how dedicated they have to be, otherwise it will be an endless cycle of forgetfulness and new trays that could be easily avoided.

    It's not silly at all! I had metal braces for 2 years as a teen because my teeth were so gappy and weird. When they came off (11. YEARS. AGO. WTF.) I was so much more confident with smiling and laughing and to this day my teeth/smile are some of my favourite things about my appearance. It's amazing what it can do for your confidence. You look incredible :)

    Good for you! I'm currently on tray 15 and I am finally seeing some real results. But honestly I hate the way the trays feel in my mouth. More bothersome than anything is the elastic bands I have to wear for my entire treatment to try and help with my overbite. Some days I want to rip them out for good, but the sensible side of me says just take them out for 15 minutes and chill, so that's what I do. lol! Thankfully I change trays every week (sometimes a couple days longer if my teeth don't feel ready) but I have 42 sets, then refinements.

  • @VelvetWay
    @VelvetWay 7 років тому +1

    I would have honestly gone with the permanent retainer. I know you said you're very diligent with wearing the one you have, but there's a huge chance that your teeth will move back anyways. I have a permanent retainer and the invisalign one on top of that, and my teeth did move over the years anyways. Orthodontists don't tell you that obviously, but as someone who had braces twice, teeth want to move back to their original place very badly. Just something to consider in the future at least. Trust me, it sucks terribly when your teeth move back after all that work!

  • @mallorygrey7902

    I got Invisalign two years ago. My teeth were straight in about a year and I got the permanent retainer because I suck at remembering to put them in. The metal bar makes it a little hard to pronounce sounds that need the tongue to touch the back of the teeth. Not many cavities, so overall positive experience.

    I had a head gear and braces AND a retainer(as well as a permanent one) because I had an over bite and a big gap between my teeth... I hated every minute of it but Im happy my teeth turned out okay. If I could do it over again, I wouldnt do the Head gear but I would of had my bottom jaw broken to move forward as I have a very small jaw/chin.... it would of given me more of a difference between my jaw/neck. :) You're transformation is amazing! :D

    Your teeth look great, I had ordinary braces but getting them off was so good it just felt incredible - the only thing I want on top is my teeth whitened but thats just preference and to do with my teeth personally
    The costs you racked up was really interesting to me as I'm English and my retainer is £60 for replacements but the first set was free. Unfortunately I grind my teeth when I wear my retainer so I've worn quite a few holes in it already and I dread replacing it even at a £60 cost.
    Honestly its amazing what a small difference can make in your confidence

    Good call on not choosing to get the permanent bonded lingual brackets. I have them on both my upper and lower mandible and maxilla anteriors (upper/lower front teeth each) and they both become SUCH a pain after eating. I always have to use floss threaders to get anything out. Plus calculus (plaque) builds up SUPER easily that way so you would have to get them cleaned more often by a professional. BUT at the same time I am the type of person that will always eventually forget to wear my retainer and would screw my teeth up. (so it truly is each to their own) lol 8 years later and I still have a straight smile!! : D I personally might want to get my lower lingual bar removed due to the calculus build up...or just get them cleaned more. x3 (Works out either way for me since I'll be a dental hygienist in a year! ^__-)

    With Invisalign did they have to do any filing of the spaces in between teeth? I'm asking, because I got an off brand of invisalign that used a similar method with the buttons on the teeth, but for me they also did some filing of the space between teeth to allow room for movement.

    I had regular braces for three years, not invisalign, but I had a similar experience of getting cavities for the first time because of them. I haven't had any for a couple of years since I switched to a more heavy duty electric brush, so maybe if you're still using a manual brush, that could help?

  • @rebeccad2212
    @rebeccad2212 7 років тому

    Lovely! I'm curious - how painful is the process? I've heard that having regular braces can be very painful when they're tightened - is it the same when you get a new set of trays? Are your teeth more sensitive for a while after getting new trays?

    • @albinwonderland
      @albinwonderland  7 років тому

      It IS painful when you put a new set of trays in- not sharp pains but a general sore feeling. I found that putting a new tray on right before bed and taking an advil made it more than tolerable. :D My teeth were very sensitive early on in the process but by the end, not really.

    I've been wanting to do this for a while, but the cavities thing freaks me out a little. I've never had cavities before, are they really painful??
    When I was a kid, I had regular braces, and an absolutely horrible orthodontist who destroyed my bottom row of teeth. He didn't listen to me when I told him I needed the metal bar retainer, and he tightened my braces too much to the point of causing the entire row of teeth to shift, which then lead me to having overlapping teeth. He gave me plastic tray retainers which ended up cracking and breaking because my teeth kept shifting so much due to the over tightening. It was just a nightmare, and now I feel really self conscious about my bottom row of teeth, and they also cause a great deal of pain when they shift. :/

    I see in your first photo that your jaw was a bit crooked? Did this help allign your teeth? I had braces for 3ish years and right after I took them off my teeth/jaw shifted back immediately. Do you think these helped?

      I'm not sure actually! My dentists have never said anything about a crooked jaw so it may have just been the picture.

      Thanks for responding! See I wasnt sure if it was the photo or if you had a crooked jaw. I'll def do more research myself. Thank you anyways

    I had invisalign and HOLY CRAP people pointed them out a lot. It's not a big deal, but it was not invisible by any stretch of the imagination.
    If I had to do it again, I would probably just go with traditional braces. less expensive and more powerful.

    I'm just under the 3 month mark on my Invisalign braces. My heart sank when you mentioned the cavities. I've been very diligent, too. I've never had a cavity and I don't want to start now. :( Also, some of the comments here are disheartening - especially the ones about the teeth moving back. I'm glad you're happy with your teeth now! :) How long was your treatment? Mine is supposed to be about a year and a half (but I've been told not to be surprised if it ends up being more during the refinement period). Also, at what point did they take off your attachments?

      Cathy hey I've had invisiline for a full year and never had any cavities. my teeth did get a little yellow from drinking sugarless herbal tea, but that got fixed and I stopped drinking until they came off. I brushes my teeth and case whenever I ate or drank and maybe that helped. I read a few comments saying it's a dry mouth problem though, when saliva doesn't get to your teeth to protect the enamel. also don't get the permanent bar, it makes flossing more work.

      Thanks Aliesha! I've noticed my teeth have yellowed a little, too. Thankfully I almost always drink water anyway (and definitely only water with them in). I'm using an anti-cavity toothpaste, so I'm hoping that will help. I only seem to get dry mouth when I'm talking a lot. haha Thanks for the info!

    I really, really want Invisalign because my teeth are very crooked and crowded. But I already get judged in my professional life for looking young and I think metal braces would make me look even younger. I'm nervous that my teeth are too crooked for them, though. I have only ever seen people with fairly straight teeth get Invisalign. Mine are totally jacked.

    were there any foods you had to give up?

    • @albinwonderland
      @albinwonderland  7 років тому +1

      Nope, none at all! I had to floss and brush my teeth after every single meal I ate so it didn't matter what I was eating so long as I cleaned my teeth properly.
      The only thing I really gave up is chewing gum, because you always have your trays in and you can't chew gum with the trays.

    I had regular braces as a teen and didn't wear my retainer and all my teeth have shifted since then... siiiiiiiiigh. That retainer is SO important but of course as a butthead stubborn teenager, I was so naive. Been thinking about Invisalign but the cost is so prohibitive to me where I am currently in life. I'm just trying to embrace how my teeth look, even though they feel wonky to me. It's cheaper. LOL >_< ...so yeah that's my experience to say WEAR YOUR RETAINER, FOLKS

    Did you get some sort of veneer caps put on? Some of your teeth look longer haha I've just always been interested in veneers to even out my teeth :)

    • @albinwonderland
      @albinwonderland  7 років тому

      Nope, no veneers or caps! But they did file the bottoms of my two front teeth to be straight because the edges of them were a bit jagged from how my teeth fit together.

    • @TheHannahHARLEQUIN
      @TheHannahHARLEQUIN 7 років тому

      Maybe it's just because they're all straightened in position now so they look longer, and with the front teeth being 'shortened' they're more even haha illuuusions! I've never been super happy with my teeth even after braces and I've heard a lot of younger people are getting veneers now. But I'm so happy to see you happy and confident :) you truly deserve it!

    • @albinwonderland
      @albinwonderland  7 років тому +1

      Haha yeah it's totally an illusion! And I feel like my teeth look way whiter now even though they're the same shade as before, it's just there aren't any shadows cast by crooked teeth. It's amazing all the changes it's made. Thank you so much

    My advice is : get the permanent retainer ! The night retainer will kind of loosen up over time and your teeth will try to go back the way they where ... also my retainer got yellow over time ... other than that I loved loved loved my Invisalign's
