The older I get the more I realize that folks are really doing the best that "they" know how given their circumstances. We have to remember that when looking at people and what they have endured. The majority of us would be torn to shreds if 1 close family member died, let alone one entire branch in one fell swoop. Try to remember these folks are finally having to face this horrid reality in a court of law and that will drudge up more sorrowful feelings. Let's stop judging these folks, especially during arguably the worst time of their life. Pain is still pain, whether you have on a suit or greasy hair and dirty jeans.
Exactly. Many of us are 1 or 2 paychecks from being on the street. Ppl do what they gotta do to get by. It may not be the way they want to do it but you do what you gotta do. You are also right on losing 1 family member much less losing an entire family. I lost my sister to murder ( I was very young) but it destroyed my parents- I can’t imagine losing 8 of them to cold blooded murder. Many would have breakdowns
Thank you! Pain is pain. It doesn’t matter if you are I a Suit and tie from sax fifth avenue or greasy jeans with stains on your shirt. The monster that is pain didn’t care. These family members have had to endure something none of us can imagine. 8 family members gone in one night, 3 day old baby left to sit in her mothers blood for HOURS, the 3 year old is lucky, had he been any older i suspect these monsters would have shot him just to be absolutely sure he couldn’t help police identify his parents killers. The 3 babies who were left to sit with their parents bodies for hours is absolutely heart breaking.
Thank you so much. I have seen so many harsh words, jokes, and judgemental statements. People are People. Doesn't matter the dress or dialect. Like You said, pain is pain and these judges and juries need to step back and think about all those hurtful, uneccesary statements they are making.

It’s not the counties fault but they knew how big this case was and should have brought in someone to help them with their tech setup. Someone would have probably done it for free
The judges do it as well. Check out the parade massacre trial of Darrel brooks that just ended mainly the very last day while she is sentencing as the judge referred to a bunch of witnesses testimony n victims statements..
@@ButterfliesAreNinjas yup! She did such an amazing job with brooks and his shenanigans. Did you hear her say she had filled up 9 notepads during the time of the trial!? And that’s got one single trial! I appreciate her diligence but dang, that’s a lot of notes. I really like how she made sure to use the victims statements and quote them by name individually. That shows she really cared about getting justice for the victims. She wanted to use their words in her verbal lashing of brooks. I wish she could have been a little more free with what she could say but I understand she had to remain professional. And I like that she allowed the person who was removed from the court for yelling at brooks during the sentencing to come back inside if they agreed to not have any more outbursts. She said she wanted to give that person the same opportunities she was giving brooks which I though was really cool. She really did a great job handling brooks.
Just some background. Pike County is very rural, and in some ways possibly still trying to catch up with technology. But this trial has been in the making for a long time, and the People's Attorney sounds like a kid who scribbled down his book report last night, and is hoping nobody notices that he's not prepared when he gets up in front of the class.

The first witness begins at 4:44:11 . And how is he allowed to dress like that? Don't they have dress codes in court? Even if the guy is broke and can't afford nice clothes, you'd think the court would provide him with a hairbrush, a pair of slacks, a polo shirt and a tie. If I were the judge I would have kicked that witness right out, then I would have torn into the prosecution for letting him come into court wearing blue jeans, a tshirt , and sitting there with his arms crossed like. I'm not attacking the man but that's just totally unacceptable to look like that. The prosecution should have prepared him beforehand
Are you for real. That man lost 8 members of his family in one night and you think its OK to criticise his attair. Fortunately the judge has more compassion and understanding than you do. I doubt this man meant any disrespect for the court, he probably doesn't even own a suit. These are rural Appalachian mountain folk (the land that time forgot) here in the USA. Most scratch a living out of the harsh rocky terrain of the mountain , those that are not farmers are usually coal miners or loggers working for bare minimum wages. Many are offspring of the original Scotch Irish highlander clans that settled in this beautiful but harsh geographical location. If you listen close, you can still today detect a bit of that ethnicity in some words as they speak. For the most part, they are dirt poor except for the land they inherited passed down and subdivided through generations and still pretty much live by the clan codes of family first. They are the type of people that if you come knocking unannounced, you'll be met at the front door with a "who the hell are you?" attitude and looking down both barrels of a shotgun ..At the same time , if you're in need they'll give you the shirt off their backs or invite you in for a meal if you're hungry but you wrong them, you've made an enemy for life. Having served on a jury in a bigger state, and bigger city, the witnesses weren't required to dress up. Some of them were wearing hoodies and jeans, down of course to see their face, but not dressed up by any means. I also have in-laws who are from a small town near where this happened.
