And what a struggle it would be to find better 👌
Amen fellow listener
I will patiently await all content from The War on Drugs for the rest of my life. I will go see them every time they are in my city. A true masterclass on modern rock.
same! wish they posted more!!! the live stuff is amazing.
I will be right behind you 😊 friend. The best of the best!
Agreed! I've seen them four times. Amazed at the volume.
I agree!!! Saw them at red rocks! Amazing!!!!!
I went to the Milwaukee show and it was GREAT!
Been a fan for ages. But I'm 64, so lots of ages. Everything they do makes me happy. And so too my wife, my loving partner for 38 years. Their music, our happiness. May it continue.
May there be many more years of you and your lovely partner enjoying this wonderful music. "Tips my hat and raises a glass"
I would go see them play the same set night after night just to dance to these songs. They make me so happy and I never tire of them.
How many times does this band have to prove they are the best modern rock group going?
They deserve every inch of spotlight they can gather.
They don’t fail.
It’s always onwards and upwards
Great!!
Indie rock& agreed❤
Shhhh. I want them to keep proving it!
Every song they create is brilliance.
Every.
Song.
This is what a room full of musical Einsteins sound like
Yes. All a buncha fkn geniuses. Love love love. 😊
I'm a teenager of the 70s. The War on Drugs is the only modern band I've come across that can recreate the magic of that era, putting music first. Great stuff.
you need to look ' for all atonal single instrument bands ' there are very many that anywhere from 8 to an orchestra behind them . try radio kepx . have agood day
Aah, the 70s. I was a teenager too. These guys are absolute gold, nothing comes close.
There's a band called "Fire Tiger," that's also pretty good, but not in TWOD's class.
I'm an 80's kid and, in my opinion, War on Drugs, sound way more like the 80's...Dire Straights meet Bruce Springsteen kind of vibe....
A 70s twenty something myself - I have only recently came across them thanks to a Spotify mix. Just finding their back catalogue.
Absolutely spot on. I'm the same. The first and only band of the last 30 years who I have properly connected with. No one else comes close to the quality of songwriting and playing. Just seen them in Halifax and, as ever, came away with tears in my eyes. Just listen to the songs that don't make the albums!!!
It takes a lot for an old guy like me to get interested in anything new,but this band is exceptional.I just love their long dreamy intramentals.
I was sceptical in the beggining. But they're really good.
@Johnkayppi7078.
Sceptical 😅😅😅 agree mate
Me too , FOR SURE !, Absolutely Wonderiffic!
At 72
discovered this band just today. the simple words that came to me were "It's nostalgic yet fresh". I am so glad to hear them play, it is my peace. One of the best things of 2024 for me! God bless music and god bless them!
Brilliant 👍
I’ve got a tablet full of magic, this might be a little soft, but it’s relaxing af😊
Amen to that!
They rocked Cleveland last night!
Everyone around me is sick of me playing this over and over. Everyone that is except my son. We are both on the Austism spectrum...and he hears this and just watches it, mesmerized. Lots to be down about, but The War on Drugs brings me back with these soaring, spiritual anthems. I always feel like I can make it just a little fucking longer when I hear this song.
Right on! Succinctly put, my friend. ❤
That's a beautiful tribute
Amen to you and your son fine sirs! :)
@@Amber-vn5yn Thank you, ma'am!
I'm 68, been waiting for that sound for so long, this band made me believe in music again.
There’s not a more powerful moment in their live shows than the second half of the song. Beautifully arranged!
Couldn’t agree more! 6:05
Yes!! Was fortunate enough to see them twice this past summer and I can still remember the chills I felt when they played this song. It was pure nostalgia mixed with euphoria... So beautiful.
Eddie, that is a very keen and salient observation. Agree! Love their music. Here's a good example of that...ua-cam.com/video/vkLOg252KRE/v-deo.html
I disagree. But only with your first sentence. Have you witnessed Under the Pressure live? ;)
@@thebigkrischandefinitely, an incredible song! i must respectfully hold my ground 😉 this was the highlight of their most recent tour for me. But both tracks are incredibly fun to experience live.
The new girl just adds even more charisma to the band. incredible energy.
What a great band!!! Faith in music restored
My God this band is unbelievable. This song is just beautiful.
This is what amazing songwriting looks like.
hi I'm from Peru . What incredible music. I listen to it all the time.
just found these guys and im in tearss
Yeah. its strange and wonderful how the War on Drugs entice emotions so vividly.
Eliza Hardy Jones is the best addition to this band. Serene female vocals and amazing skill on keyboard. Really love her flow.
Yes EHJ is a superb addition to TWOD... a final puzzle piece that makes the band America's best established Rock group. Truly stunning!
At first I was a bit defensive regarding the tried and tested terrific line up, but after seeing her perform with the band live, it’s like she’s always been there. Love her vocals and vibes.
You have to check out the "behind the keyword rig" with the band. She's the one doing the most interesting stuff out of all the other keyboard players in the band.
In my opinion, The War On Drugs is one of the best "thinking persons" group of musicians to ever exist. True audio art. Every time I listen to Adams outstanding voice and lyrics it takes me to places in my past yet helps me continue to move forward on my own journey.
The irony, because it is actually about feeling, not thinking.
@@aisthpaoitht an irony, but true nonetheless
Outstanding lyrics ? My biggest frustration with TWOD are the crappy, generic lyrics. Don’t get me wrong , amazing band still.
@@rm3266 Wow, crappy lyrics but an amazing band? Um, I think you don't understand much about music. Lol. Big-time lol.
What is this gate keeping thinking person's BS
Literally one of the best live performances ever captured on video and audio. This band is a modern classic. Rejoice, indie-rock fans!
For the last 19 months, this song has been my most played on UA-cam. I get the reports quarterly and it never amazes me to see #1.
If you haven’t listened to their early stuff, please do. Tracks to look for:
“Come to the city”
“Comin’ throigh”
“Arms like Boulders”
and every track on “Lost in the Dream” is a work of art. The closer “In Reverse” is special, when the kick drum drops on “In Between the Waves” something happens…. and make sure you see a video of a version of “under the pressure” where they go absolutely all in.
Lost in the dream is a pure concept album which gets stuck in your mind forever. Listen in pure darkness with headphones
I have tried many times. And i will say, i do like them. And every now and then i'm in the mood for them. But ... I think i'm waaaay too spoiled by their last 3 albums, which are just masterpieces. Flawless.
My introduction to them was 'Thinking of a Place'. Then I got obsessed with A Deeper Understanding (which is now one of my favorite albums of all time) and worked my way back through their catalogue. Then i got afraid they would not be able to top A Deeper Understanding. .. But then came I Don't Live Here Anymore .. and omg, they did it. Another flawless masterpiece.
What an amazing band. Wow. Definitely my favorite band right now. And no other even comes close.
This mix is just unreal. These guys are masters of their sound. Congrats to Robbie and Adam on the nomination!
nomination?

I sit lonely in my truck and listen to this song. And it feels so good!!!!
This music has not changed my life, better, it is accompanying me through it
I like that. That's a great way to put the exact way I feel about music I love in general. God speed, good sir!
3 songs into this band. If this song is an example of what they are bringing...then they are instantly in my top 10 all time and movin up quick. This song is pure magic.
Where are they at now? 1.
Only been listening to them for 5 months and they are all I can listen to, especially when driving, I just can’t get enough of this music.
Welcome friend
Absolutely bloody awesome. Love you guys. You bring so much peace and happiness!
The War on Drugs has become one of my favorite bands, for a few years when I heard them on a recommendation, to date I follow their career, this album in particular has removed many things in me, their music saved my life on several occasions where i was in very dark places, Harmonia's Dream is now my favorite song on this album beating Occasional Rain, it's amazing what music can do in the hands of such talented people, keep it up guys and thanks for giving us such beautiful music.
Awesome power this band has. Best wishes.
Same, brother! Thanks for sharing - much love.
How many lives have they saved? I am 1 of thousands I'm sure! Not many musicians can say that ha??
@@Twod1980 Surely you and I are one of many who have saved with their beautiful music.
@@sgiphoto7242 same for you brother
One of my goals is to see this band live
Cwapp
Harmonia's Dream and Occasional Rain are my personal favorites from this album.
Last verse on occasional rain hits me every time 🥹
I just love how the video is shot
OMG!! 1st time hearing this song and agree with all these comments child of the 60s and i am trilled by their music, and ive heard a lot. i get a lot of the spirit in these songs and the meldies can bring tears.
I love the way all the instruments come into the song at different times in the beginning of the song. I just love this band so much. So deserving of a Grammy.
I agree to you absolutely!
Been waiting years to see them and finally, two weeks ago, in the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House, a dream come true!
I had the opportunity to see them playing and honestly is one of my most precious memories ever. I love your music so much!
Saw them in September in the Detroit area. Fantastic and brilliant cannot come close to expressing how good they are live.
A breath of fresh air in canned times. Love everything about this band.
This just gets better with every view/listen. What a band, what a sound.
Can't believe your stopping in Ottawa this July 2023.
I am taking my wife and twin 14 years olds with me, I hope we can hear Harmonia's dream, and Occasional Rain.
What a song, what a performance! Just stunning! Thank you!
I really love their songs. Like the Dylan influence in the vocals. I'm 67 and their driving rythem makes me dance. Recently saw them live in Madison WI. Awesome!
At 6:15, when everything kicks back in. WOW.
I am just discovering this band and am amazed by their superior musicianship and the sound they emit is so uplifting.
Buckle up... its a gas
This group are brill.reminds me of the boss Springsteen but there library of songs are a lot better.
The instrumentation on this version is immaculate. Discovered this band 4 or 5 years ago and have been in awe ever since. This is my favorite song of theirs, and surely a top 10 favorite song of mine in general. I hope to see these wonderful musicians live someday.
That drop just before 6m30 is so unbelievably good, I just melt. I love The War on Drugs.

During Covid (2020), Spotify let me know that they were promoting a virtual concert with The War on Drugs. I believe it was this concert. I bought my ticket, T-Shirt, and watched the concert for 3 days straight. I can only describe their music as life saving. It helped me get through Covid and my dog passing from cancer. Thank you!! Just thank you!
Also, I sure hope the band gets money from Spotify because they have been my top top band since 2020 ha! Been getting their vinyl's when I can.
❤ I listen every day (or I actually watch them) while they magically play their music and that's me. Epic. Life enhancing 🎶🍀👍
This is Music with a Soul. I love this sound, I never get tired of it.
Best modern rock band. I saw them last year, and they were unbelievable live. The drummer is incredible and creates that perfect pocket for the wall of sound.
I cannot erase this memory.
Adam and his fellow bandmates are consummate artists and performers. I saw them in October of this year in St. Augustine, Florida, and their show was a thing to behold...almost sacred in its sound, layer upon layer of interwoven notes and chords and beats...even Adam seemed carried away in a spiritual awakening or euphoria...such a thing to behold, I was nearly breathless in the wonder of it all...its simplicity and complexity just held my undivided attention for two hours. Please do see them if you can, you will not regret it. And they dedicated a song to my departed son. A band of really great people.
Beautifully put.
I've only recently discovered TWOD and I'm fairly obsessed. I haven't heard a LOT of their songs yet, but every single song I have heard, I love. I should really go back and listen to everything from the beginning!
Do. Catch them live when possible. Memorable.
@@Pancho308 They came through my area a short time ago, but I couldn't make it. NEXT TIME, I'm definitely there.
Do it ☺️
Try in reverse, under the pressure (the live version from live drugs is an experience), red eyes, thinking of a place, strangest thing (the guitar will melt the skin off your arms) to name but a few.
I'm a superfan of them and I'd recommend starting at the Lost in the Dream album rather than the beginning. It's a perfect album. Then go to the two albums after that. The older albums are good, but not as developed as the last three.
Saw you in Birmingham UK in April... What can I say other than I've never felt so privileged seeing a band live, I'll never tire of your music.
like B.J.H... another, extremely underrated band 🤝
shame I missed that, I live near there
Best Band 💯💯💯💯
Along with strangest thing, red eyes, come to the city, In chains, and of course under the pressure... Harmonia's dream has become one of my favorite live song of theirs. Luminous and transcendent
Holy crap. Just when you don’t think a song can any better, they prove you wrong. One the best rock bands, hands down, and this song is absolutely amazing. That’s why it’s up for a Grammy and certainly has my vote for best rock song of the year.
nice feel nice sound
Saw this band in SLC last night. What a trip! They sound just as good in person as they do on their albums. Making some of the best music around.
This band always has INCREDIBLY well mixed drums
holy shit the moment when the reverb kicks in on the snare at 2:57 gives me chills every time. This is the best live performance video I've ever seen. Give the mix engineer a raise!
New years Eve..Will be playing this a lot at home tonight with few beers.Pure class. Happy New Year from Manchester U.K
Happy New Year from London.
Larga vida a The War on Drugs. Músicos de calidad verdaderamente talentosos.
Wonderful music as I recover from my broken back and spinal injury. Your music gives me wings when I am cemented to a bed. I love you all. Thankyou. Please come to Australia.
A true becon of light in our times in a poverty ridden music world of bands and artists.
One of the rare instances where I am excited to listen to a 9 minute version of a song.
It's like I'm walking on the day lit sky when that synth come rising in
The War on Drugs é a trilha sonora da minha vida. O som dessa banda vai me acompanhar até o fim da minha vida. Já me fizeram chorar, refletir, se divertir e dançar. Obrigado ❤.
One of the coolest songs ive ever heard !! This band has all of their instruments so in sync with each other it is just so dam amazing!!!
This mix is great in headphones, what a great band.
these are the guys who know exactly what they are doing - music everyone
saw this guy .. minneapolis 2011 .. 2014 .. love everything they've done, everything they'll ever do
For the sake of humanity, please never break up and stop touring 🙌🏼 everyone, good and bad, deserves to see a War on Drugs concert once in their life.
Awesome possibly the best band on the planet right now.
deffinitley are the best band right now
Honestly that’s hard to argue. Simply brilliant.
These guys are playing, writing and composing music from a different planet. I can't play any instrument, but, WOW, I sure can respect and be moved by people who can. I don't like their music, I adore and love their music. Absolutely stunning, THIS IS MUSIC ❤❤❤
Pure brilliance, their music has restored my heart and soul!,outstanding musicians.
I mostly listen to 90s music, but this is some of the best modern music I've heard
Damn, I love this band ❤
See them live as close as you can get. It’s amazing
Discovered this amazing band by accident about 2 years ago, and at last I get to see them play live in Brighton this summer. I love all types of music, from metal to prog house and techno and have seen hundreds of bands over the years but I can honestly say I've never been so excited to see a band play as I am with these! This video is the first thing I play on my way to work and the last thing before I go to bed at the moment....an absolute masterpiece by a collective of musicians who are absolutely at the top of their game..just brilliant 👏 Thanks for sharing!
I feel like i’m the only teenager who knows abt twod but im glad I do. Saw them live in september, incredible visuals with the songs
This is old but I’m a teenager who loves TWOD I just went to their concert last month with my dad :)
In a word, this was transcendent. Sorry, I’m in tears. Much love to this incredible band.
No need to be sorry, me too🎉
Loved this band since seeing them in Concert in 2012 in Germany.
The song is just Superb. The last 4 mins or so just blow me away.
Real Music.
5:50, alguien que me explique el nivel de conexión que lograron estos músicos, wooooow... Que hermoso ver cómo viven la música
I can't escape this memory
It's like a dream, it's got me up all night again
And you're all that I can see
But I been here before, I've crossed so many roads
Never needed more than I could hold
Running and returning
In a vision, you're a ghost in black and white
A silhouette in blue and green
I lay awake at night and wait for you to come
Been hangin' on so hard and now I can't let go
I'm in a rollin' wave
That moves across the line
Am I losin' my faith?
We're gonna lose it in time
Leaves are falling down like rain
In the mornin', I just stand alone outside
And I watch 'em blow away
It's so hard to find a friеnd these days
Oh, babe, I'm sinkin'
Summеr comes and rain gets in
It's like I'm lookin' through the glass on the other side
I'm not tryna make you wait
But I don't need it anymore, and I can't turn back
And give it all away when it's all I have
I'm in a rollin' wave
That moves across the line
Am I losin' my faith?
We're gonna lose it in time
Sometimes forwards is the only way back
To reach the hill in time
I was lost in the light that can't be seen
Don't move around in front of me
I'm on a scene, I'm overdrive
You lay awake, you know the way
You know the path I'm walkin' on
Are we the cast you're leanin' on?
You know the coast, you're on your own
Well, I'm gone like a light that can't be seen
Don't look away, it's just a dream
I'm out of touch, so out of reach
It's comin' back and I'm movin' fast
Just one more day and I'm home at last
I need that love I'm dreamin' on
I know the cost
You're on your own
Oh-oh
You're on your own
Oh-oh
The synth riff and tone is so simple yet turns this song into something incredibly atmospherically.
pff, what a joy. This makes music with instruments the real deal. This is outside category music. The War on Drugs is more than that, it's heavenly.
I'm on the north side of 60 and War On Drugs is my favorite band ever. It's great to see Eliza Hardy Jones join WOD. She played keyboards briefly with Strand Of Oaks. Best wishes to Eliza and the entire band. Safe travels wherever the road leads.
Just love❤❤❤ this band
For me, one of their best ever songs, it's just heavenly. What a live version and what a band ❤️
My favourite band ever. Love you guys!
You guys are the new Fleetwood Mac, and I mean that as the biggest compliment not comparison. Respectfully. Your music and band is wanderlust, beauty, LOVE. Hello from Australia. Love Damo
What a tune,absolute quality.Fantastic production.Feels like I'm flying.
mad respect for the drummer
I'm not one to geek out over drummers but Charlie is the shit, yeh?
On songs that I listen to over and over again, I enjoy picking out 1 instrument and following it thru the song. Try this exercise with the bass guitar , especially the 2nd half of this song. He’s putting in solid work here!
Absolutely captivating. They are so incredibly impressive. Just world-class musicians. Thank you TWOD! 🙏🏼👊🏻
Saw them on the 15th of July this year in Groningen and I’m still flabbergasted! It was a great show of a great band, every song is a treat for the ears!
These guys are sooooooooooooooooo great. Been following them for a few years. Got me through my transplant recovery period. Thrashed to death !! Top 0.05% of listeners on Spotify for me 🙂🙂🙂. Time to come to New Zealand !!!!!!

WOW= The more I listen to you guys the more I realise your sound and vibration is so wonderful. Its just like the amazing music from FLEETWOOD MAC. I say this in the most respectful way. I look forward to new music from you in the future. I do hope you really enjoy playing this music as its underlying feeling is very positive. Do you ever think about where your music comes from, per se, a muse or connected sense of beauty.
I only knew of the War on Drugs after hearing Holding On on the FIFA 18 console game, and even then I thought it was a good track but never looked into them any further than that, until 5 months ago and thought I’d check them out on Spotify and instantly fell in love with their music. It’s like their music has been with me my whole life at the same time it all feels so new. Was lucky enough just after I started listening to them I thought I’d look to see if they were touring and sure enough they toured Australia towards the end of last year. Was the best concert I’ve ever been to, it was an outdoor venue, nice balmy night and it was just the most magical experience ever and I will never forget it. Oh and I’ve already decided ‘Thinking of a place’ is going to the song I want played at my funeral.
7:10 I like how the guitar hook at the end is predicted by the vocal and the saxophone.
First time I heard this song I was driving on the highway at night and when the synth kicked in it brought me to another planet. Absolutely love this song ❤
