Hallelujah thst was fantastic. Feels like the great gathering. Where the Soul of Man never dies. I just love Johnny Cash and and June and the Carter family. Feels like a little bit of heaven already. Thanks blessings for sharing this treasure.
If I’m correct, I think this was recorded down the road from the Carter Family Fold, in that little white church. I seen Janette Carter in the audience. I love this! ❤️
To Canaan's land, I'm on my way Where the soul (of man) never dies My darkest night will turn to day Where the soul (of man) never dies No sad farewells No tear-dimmed eyes Where all is love And the soul never dies Dear friends, there'll be no sad farewells There'll be no tear-dimmed eyes Where all is peace and joy and love And the soul of man never dies The rose is blooming there for me Where the soul (of man) never dies And I will spend eternity Where the soul (of man) never dies The love light beams across the foam Where the soul (of man) never dies It shines and lights the way to home Where the soul (of man) never dies My life will end in deathless sleep Where the soul (of man) never dies And everlasting joys I'll reap Where the soul (of man) never dies I'm on my way to that fair land Where the soul (of man) never dies Where there will be no parting hand Where the soul (of man) never dies
I had neither heard nor thought of this song for at least 40 years, but when my wife's dad died suddenly, this song immediately jumped into my brain and stayed there, over and over for a day. 23 years later, my son passed and the same thing happened. I secured a recording and play it often now.
Amazing performance! The vocal harmonies blended beautifully! It was sweet to see the way Janette was hugging a little boy. He looked like he was about to go to sleep! What a kind and gentle soul.
You were at this concert? That's cool. I'm gonna be playing with his drummer W.S. Holland soon as my drummer. Yep I know him personally, and he is helping me get my career started.
I was so fortunate to meet them in 1994 at a concert they did in Webster Mass. a co worker was a guard at the place they performed at and asked them if it was ok to meet them. I got my picture taken with John and June back stage.Anita had fallen as she was getting off of their bus and was taken to the local hospital to be checked out .
I remember very well getting to go see Johnny Cash, Anita, Helen and June Carter. I was sad not to see Momma Maybell Carter. I really miss them all. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
I can't stop listening to this. I'm not sure why it's considered a Christmas song, but I love it so much. I want it at my funeral. Can anyone answer these questions? 1. What year was this? 2. Was Johnny Cash not famous yet, its such a small church. 3. Can you identify the female singers for me? 4. Can you identify the elderly lady they focus on for a few seconds?
3. The female singer in the middle is June carter Cash - his wife - (but I don't know what year this is, so they might not be married yet - but I think they are) the second female to sing - black & white dress is Helen Carter, and the third female is Anita Carter - they're sisters - who with their Mother (Maybelle)at one time made up the Carter Family.
the video description says the year was 1983, so Johnny and June had been married for 15 years, and Johnny had already been famous for well over 20 years
@@carmenhardy2629 it was the church in June Carter's hometown. The person in the audience that they show is Jeanette Carter. That was AP Carter's daughter. She ran the Carter Fold until she died in 2006. Her children now run the Carter Fold.
@@tammygilesthecandykitchen6819 yes I recognized Janette and the other lady in photo with her, I think she might be Gladys, AP and Sara's oldest daughter! What do you think? She was 4 years older than Janette and I think Joe came 4 years after her. No I don't remember if I asked the question but I've been wondering who the woman was in the single photo.
The original "Carter family" consisted of three people....Maybelle, Sara, and A.P. Carter. Sara was a Carter by marriage to A.P., and Maybelle was married to A.P.'s cousin Ezra Carter. The "Original" Carter Family of A.P. Maybelle and Sara had a fabulous career (by the standards of the time), as recording artists for Victor Records and in personal appearances from 1927 to 1943. Their first test recordings for Victor were made in Bristol, Tennessee, in 1927, and the "Bristol Sessions" are sometimes called the "Big Bang" of country music. The original Carter Family had a legendary career, although Sara and A.P. separated in 1932 and divorced in 1939. As soon as the original Carter Family broke up in 1943, Maybelle began a new act with her three daughters, Helen, June, and Anita, as "Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters." By the early 1950's, they were a popular act with the Grand Ole Opry, with June out in front in both a musical and a comedy role. Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters made records, played the Opry and personal appearances, Opry TV shows, etc. As early as the Grand Ole Opry years in the 50's, Maybelle and the girls started using the old name "Carter Family" again. June became a star in her own right, and by the 1960's June, with her mother and sisters were appearing with Johnny Cash, and June recorded duets with Johnny. June and Johnny married in 1968 (her third marriage.) Maybelle and the other members of the family....as the "Carter Family"...... toured with Johnny Cash and appeared on his TV show for many years. The girls were with him after Maybelle's death in 1978. Maybelle's fabulous career with various members of the family lasted about 50 years. Sara came out of retirement for a brief time in the 1960's and appeared with Maybelle. Sara died in 1979. A.P. had died in 1960. There are UA-cam audio clips of the original Carter Family records from the 1920's and 30's, as well as audio and video clips of Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters from their long career. (You have to be careful to figure out which is which, because the generic name "Carter Family" was used at different times for about 70 years.)
1 corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day accord ing to the scriptures
. . . and the voice of Johnny never dies, either!
I miss them all.
Johnny and other Country/Gospel singers who have passed live on in their music and UA-cam.
Absolutely amazing. Anita Carter may be the best female country singer ever.
They were all great, but Anita was in a class of her own. Probably the best singer ever, in country music.
of course she was, its not even arguable, anita carter was the greatest singer in country music history PERIOD
Praise God what a lovely gathering in Heaven with our Lord Jesus singing with beautiful voices.

Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Hiltons, VA, the church of my ancestors.
To Canaan's land, I'm on my way
Where the soul (of man) never dies
My darkest night will turn to day
Where the soul (of man) never dies
No sad farewells
No tear-dimmed eyes
Where all is love
And the soul never dies
Dear friends, there'll be no sad farewells
There'll be no tear-dimmed eyes
Where all is peace and joy and love
And the soul of man never dies
The rose is blooming there for me
Where the soul (of man) never dies
And I will spend eternity
Where the soul (of man) never dies
The love light beams across the foam
Where the soul (of man) never dies
It shines and lights the way to home
Where the soul (of man) never dies
My life will end in deathless sleep
Where the soul (of man) never dies
And everlasting joys I'll reap
Where the soul (of man) never dies
I'm on my way to that fair land
Where the soul (of man) never dies
Where there will be no parting hand
Where the soul (of man) never dies
