- For the closer of this episode from Cash's 1969-71 variety show, the host is joined by June Carter, Norman Blake, The Carter Family featuring Anita Carter and Mother Maybelle, and the Statler Brothers in a gospel medley that includes "Old Time Religion," "The Fourth Man" and "The Old Account." From the January 27, 1971 episode, taped at Nashville's legendary Grand Ol' Opry.
What happened to GOOD? Today we are missing class & goodness. Oh, how I miss June & Johnny. RIP.

Oh I just can not find proper words to describe how much I admire Johnny Cash and his style. He was much much more than just a entertainer on stage. He was a human on stage telling his story. It breaks my heart to think that we will never hear him again in this life.
Liza, kind comments by you and other fans help keep Johnny Cash’s (as well as the Carters) music alive. Yes, I miss them all, too. You might check out Carlene Carter’s channel. She’s a third generation Carter who plays her own compositions as well as the old ones. As soon as Covid is over, I hope to go to one of her concerts. And also go to the Carter Fold for the August festival weekend when Carter music is played. Probably August 2021.

We'll never the likes of Jonny again and l sure do love his music and voice and his connection to the roots of country music its self by way of the Carter sisters and also the Statler Brothers and Jonny's own band - The Tennessee Three in the background! Man l love all their music and miss that era!
Liza I heard Johnny Cash & June Carter two years in row at the Ellensburg Roundup in Ellensburg, WA in the early 80's. They were amazing shows and I enjoyed them very much! I grew up listening to Johnny Cash every day and it was special to see Johnny & June live on stage!

I still remember June and Johnny Cash's concert at our county fairgrounds as a kid. She was so much fun to watch, even though she was sick with the flu, she came out to make us laugh. Great couple to see! Glad I had that opportunity.

His only son, John Jr. was born to his second wife, June Carter. Rosanne is famous in her own right, and she is not only a talented musician, but an accomplished songwriter as well as author. Had it not been for the adoption and cultivation of gospel melodies by the enslaved Americans who were brought here on slave ships, and their descendants, we would not be watching this video. Waking up to this history means mending old wounds. A wonderful rendition.
