I’ve just begun watching… you began with blue. The thumbnail shows other colors first so did you remake or do these colors come in later?
Thank you, I love watching your videos Blessed Be, Happy Mother's Day 🙏
@@silvercarolina4045 it’s all in the video
@@justvintagecrochet I want to make it so bad but I’m afraid of doing the edge where you have to guess where and how many stitches to do. Will I see when I get there? If I put to many will I have issue in coming rows or can I compensate as I go?
@@justvintagecrochet PS the colors are chefs kiss perfect!
This is such a pretty pattern and I love the colors you picked. Damn it, Corinna! Now I have to make one. Not like I have half a dozen other projects already lined up, on top of my "I want it" list. Oh, the humanity!
Same!! 😀😀
Ha ha, me too.!!
OMG I volunteer at an outdoor museum dating 1851 - 1861 and this is perfect for my costume!!!!! thankyou
Wonderful!
Hi from Canberra. 😂 we are better fed, we have better health during pregnancy, we have safe tap water 💦 , we have separate sewage removal. How blessed are we ❤❤
I love this design. Its prefect for wheelchair users to stay warm without being too long or cumbersome. ❤
I love your side commentary! Especially how we’re bigger, when I started collecting 1800s furniture I picked up a rocking chair from a local seller and was shocked at the size in person! lol
Love the term “better fed”🤣
And "puppy kid" 😊
You discovered a real gem, much prettier and more elegant IRL than the drawing.
Just finished this pattern. Made it with thick and quick yarn. It came out great. I love it. ❤😊
I love this design! I think it would make a beautiful light weight summer shawl done in a 2 weight yarn. You could make it as a bathing suit cover for the bottom and wrap it, maybe, around the hips and attach it at the hip. Gosh, it's beautiful!
Thanks, again, Corinna!❤️🧶🙂
Ooohhhh! I like that beach wrap idea! Brilliant! Hugs
so many options in color and wearing choices. so little time!!!
i LOVE it!!
the way you’re able to count chains while talking is something i pray i can do someday
Omfg my grandma wants something similar to this and I had no idea how to do it and then you pop up with this 😭😭 oh glory days 😂
This is a keeper! Just beautiful! Love the colors!
13:31 that innocent little angel would do no such thing 😉 I found my prize all on my own and RAN 😂 🐾🧡
Appreciate this shawl.. will wait on some chunky yarn for this one… was thinking my colors might just have to be The Blue and The Gray. 😉
😁
It’s really that we’re bigger than the people who wrote the patterns. I have a few 1910’s pattern books and the sweaters and vests only have one size available, and they range from 34 inch bust to 40 inch bust, and I have to hope the pattern I like is written for my size. The larger women had to adjust every commercial pattern they bought (if they did) in order to have something that fit. And this is why I love how modern patterns are written, the developer does the size adjustments for us so we don’t have to struggle with it.
So pretty! I agree with you. I prefer it without the decorative border as well.
I just finished this pattern today. Such agreat patrern. I didine in green, pink, and white and it is beautiful. I cant wait to use this shawl in the fall!! Thanks girl foe your great patrerns!!
Wonderful!
I love your vintage crochet channel and it’s so unique. This shawl is gorgeous ❤ Thank you for stepping out the instructions. I’ll have to add more rows to make it plus sized.
Wow, this is really pretty! The colors u used really showcases the collar. I just bought some yarn for another project, but I may need to make this 1st! 😉 Thxs for sharing!
I will try this one. The simplicity is gorgeous.
OMG...definitely making this. Thank you so much for this tutorial.❤

That would be great with a pair of jeans and a tank top or cami-style top in pink or coral ! I love it! This is definitely going in my must make!
I love it! And easy to make. Thank you so much ❤.
Beautiful!
Gorgeous!!
Really beautiful! ❤
Beautiful. I have to make this.
Oh, this is stunning!!! Love, love, love it. This is definitely my next project in a lighter weight yarn. I have been looking for days for a shawl with longer sides. Perfect timing. Thank you so much. 🍁
Very pretty!

Beautiful design 🧶
Gotta make this😁 thank you for the tutorial! Be well👍
Such a simple repeat but so beautiful.
I love this! I wouldn't normally make a shawl, but this is something entirely gorgeous! Lovely colours in your one, Corrina, and beautiful nails too!
Ithink I'd crochet a 2 or 3 row tie on the ends to wrap around and tie in front. I agree, the collar is fab too. Thank you for this!! And love to your Merlin. ❤❤😊😊🙋🙏💫
Esta hermoso espero hacerlo pronto
What a wonderful piece! The colors you used make it really pop. This one goes to my bucket list. 😊
Bought a copy of the pattern...love that self collar.the orig. pic doesn't show it.
It's lovely thanks for sharing this ❤
Omg. I just found your channel a few days ago with one of your Mystery Crochet series videos and I'm hooked! Your videos are lovely as well as the patterns you choose. I can't wait to crochet along with more of your videos!
So pretty!!
I downloaded the video, am going to make this -- have the perfect yarns & fibers to use. Thanks for the post!!
Also bought the pattern from your Etsy shop
I love this one
This is really pretty 🥳💜
❤ this. May have to make this 😂
Very pretty, great work thanks for sharing
Thank you! 😊
@@justvintagecrochet I know very similar traditional patterns where women would tie them at the back waist. It was for warmth. You end up with usually 2 layers of shawl on your b**bs and shoulders and back are covered well too. This was crucial before good central heating and before the advent of quality outdoor clothes
But, at the same time, your arms are available for work.
I wanted to ask you; is this knowledge generally understood when working with these kinds of patterns nowadays - or is it all about looks?
@@janalu4067 I’m fully aware that crochet in the Victorian era was largely utilitarian and only pieces like cuffs and collars and other adornments were more for fashion, but then as e get into the later Victorian era we see more fashionable pieces made like pelerines and so on, I cover this on a lot of my videos, people generally understand, but also want stylish pieces too
@@janalu4067 I also have a video making a Sontag which is exactly what you are describing
@@justvintagecrochet I only learnt the Sontag word from your channel, thanks! I appreciate you for filling such an important niche to me. I haven't been able to use the internet much for this because when lacking the vocabulary the search results get too vast. One thing I was wondering about the Sontag - was it tied at the back or did they use a clasp or any other mechanism? The people I knew of from my culture were subsistence farmers and would not have been able to afford anything, but tying it seems to have been an unsustainable solution that would cause undue wear and damage in daily use.
It's got a lovey shape to the shawl.
I love this. It’s beautiful. Have purchased the pattern and off to visit my wool stash.
Wonderful!
That collar is everything. Love this!
Really beautiful in those colors. Brings it to a modern look.
😍 This is stunning, Corinna! Love this! It looks very much like some of the shawls Claire wears in Outlander. ❤️ I'm going to put this on my crochet list. Thank you!! 🎩💖✨🧶🪡
I thought the same thing! I need to make this shawl!
Goodness girl! I'm adding this into my queue of patterns I'm making. ❤
Somehow mine is too small or I’m too fat, lol. I love how mine turned out, I’ll just add some rows.
Beautiful. ❤❤❤🇨🇦
Wow! I was looking for exactly this type of pattern and I even have the burgundy and grey yarn! 😄
Thank you!!
Well this is definitely going on the hook next!!!!!! I wonder if using just one yarn in a variegated color would look good as well? I have a lot of hobby lobby "winter flower" color yarn (I love this yarn brand) it is various shades of purple and I've been dying to use it ! What do you think?? I love this pattern thank you so much for this tutorial!
Hello there. I am new to Your channel. I do enjoy it very much. One question, that has been on my mind since the first video I saw;
is it an oldfashioned typewriter I hear in the background? It has my mind puzzeled. Thank you for your time. Hugs from Denmark.
I am excited to make this, as it is the oldest pattern I've come across, and I thank you for sharing historical crochet, which I love! 🧶
I love love love the colors you chose! I'm going to use some of the stitches in one of my projects I'm working on at present. And I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I am loving your Merlin stories/antics that you have been adding in along with your tutorials and mystery videos. 💖🥰🐶❣️
working one of these up for mother's day right now! i'm curious what other info you may have about this pattern? like where it was originally published/where it would have been available, if there's any particular cultural attachment (like specifically Norwegian style from the pioneer Midwest or something like that)?
That is adorable! I love it. I just started on a loom. I'm not here, yet but I love how you are bringing vintage back and the colors are just peachy keen! Great job!!
I'm putting this one on my to-do list! Very pretty! And I'm so glad Merlin didn't get your actual burger! Threadhead hugs!
This is lovely!
Thank you so much for all you do! I made the Titanic bag after only crocheting for 6 months or so. I am in love with it! And this one, on the list! Where/how can we show you and the rest of the just vintage crocheters what we created? You have a great voice and you are an amazing teacher.
yes, I invite people to email me their finished works from the channel and I love to share it on the youtube community post for all to see :)
@@justvintagecrochet ah cool. I just sent it to you 🙂
It is so gorgeous. Your colors are lovely. I must do it. Thank you for sharing. Love Love Love this shawl. 💖💐🌹🌺

It turned out really cute!
Love this sooooo much. Really stunning. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I have just started reading “These is My Words” by Nancy Turner. What a perfect project to do while reading this book!
So pretty! I’d wear this! Well done! God bless
Wow! This came out very pretty. I didn't expect to like it so much. Thank you.
Ok, third post lol!
Am making this but with yarns in my stash. Would you please post or pin to the top the dimensions of this, including how wide the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th striped "rows" as well as the "stripe" or "border" that makes the collar row? Thank you!
❤better fed!! lol! I love the look of this shawl! Thank you for sharing
Lovely!!
I love orange and blue together. This turned out gorgeously. A vintage pattern with a modern color pallet. Love it 🧡🩵
Yes, very lovely Corinna. There's so many color choices possible ...Love your choice .How did you like the brushed red heart yarn? 🧶
I love it!
So cool! Thanks! ❤
This is beautiful, but I wish you could have worked the entire 12th row. I am COMPLETELY LOST for my stitches before and after the middle (single crochet, chain 2, single crochet, chain 1)
Wow that's a easy shawl make !! And ur right a deep color and some 👖 and some boots awesome look !! I love the neckline !! Thank You for another great video 📷 !! ❤ It !!
So pretty! ❤ Absolutely loved the sweater collar vibe at the end.
I love this pattern and your color selection was spot on. Great job!
Love it...agree with you about the extra border...don't like either... love the sweater pin idea
I am looking for a pattern of a pineapple ribbon cushion and pineapple ribbon doll
Those red nails look fabulous on you. 😍
I absolutely love the shawl pattern, which seems easy to make and i like the color combination you chose. I will give this a try for sure. Thanks for your vintsge tutorials. 😊
Does anyone know what grey partridge wool would have looked like? I noticed in the pattern it said the border could be made from that instead. I'm struggling to understand what the border was originally meant to achieve as the version here really is overwhelming compared to the shawl itself. Were they hoping it would be 'fluffy' looking? Or was there utility to the stiffer loops?
Or would ladies have pulled a ribbon or leather cord through it to make it tie? I was thinking that might look pretty - get a tan colored belt like piece of leather and weave it into the bottom 1/3 of the edge on each side and then use it to tie the shawl closed with a little flower knot? Or am I over thinking this?
I like this! Thanks. 💕💕💕
Really like the texture this stitch makes ❤️ the colour changes look great using it too , great work as always Hun xxx
Very pretty, you did a great job. ❤
I would like to try this one, it turned out so well. I really like it with out the boarder.
I have been binge watching all your video's! You crack me up and you are such a pleasure to watch. This design was so beautiful. Thank you again for all your hard work!
🤩
This is so lovely!!
Very elegant
Nice colors
lol Merlin did snatch and scoot😂😂😂
I, m working on the civil war shawl and I’m using wool ease thick and quick in colors fisherman and kale. I’m alternating colors but most of is the fisherman ( an off white) and the kale is a dark green. It’s really come out great. I love the flow of it. On another note, I love your channel. It’s unique but really, you make it so much fun to watch Your enthusiasm, annoyances at things going wrong and your excitement when it’s figured out I love that all of those emotions are part of the tutorial. It makes me know that it’s not only me. Thank you so much 😄🤗
hiya corinna! this is so my style. colorado weather often requires a collar type shawl in the fall and winter. love this one.
