This made me cry. You hear all the time about expats moving to Mexico and taking advantage of or being rude to the people there. To see expats doing something like this for the people just warms my heart no end. I want to move to Mexico so badly, but now that there is such bad inflation, I can't meet the financial requirements for a temporary residency visa. I wish there was a way, because if I don't get out of here, I'll end up living in a van like so many older people in the US. Bless you for all you do.

Karen this is a dream of mine. Born in the United States in poverty and in a chaotic home having certain people in my life like teachers that just gave me a hug made such a impact in my young life. I'm Mexican American and for the last 10 years I have wanted to move to Mexico to start an orphanage or something similar. What you have started in Bucerias is amazing and inspiring. I'm not in the position to make it happen as of right now but hopefully soon I will be on my way to Mexico to make it a reality.

This is the Problem that I have with LATINOS; I am a LATINA MYSELF, Why they don't take Care of their own people; trust me; as a Latina myself; these people will Not Help their own people; even When They Can HELP. And, also these people that HATE the WHITE PEOPLE SO MUCH, are always Creating their Problems; So the GRINGOS Go Solve their problems ALWAYS; So do the black communities around the WORLD. What Latino helps Another Latino; just look at everything Evil thing they Do to themselves in the USA, CANADA, EUROPE.

An absolutely incredible story! Had me in tears. We have just moved to Cuenca, Ecuador and all these same needs are abundantly apparent here. I am now so motivated to help out with organizations that cover these needs here. This is an amazing couple! So proud to be a Canadian! LOL

It would be great to have a website that itemized volunteer options with resettled Canadians, or Mexican organizations where retirees could join and offer suppor in their areas of expertise.

Wow, I'm so thankful to God this popped up on my YT page-and I didn't even know it was about Bucerias! I was blessed enough to spend about a week there 20 years ago-it was wonderful! I hope it hasn't changed much. Praise God for working through this kindhearted woman to help children and their families. God bless you!
Regretfuly everything is changing little by little...All the rustic,the original,the calm,the magic is gone in that area.From PV to Sayulita it's a lot different than 20 years ago...But it keeps its beauty though...

I have been living on & off in Mexico since the 80’s. This is what it is all about. Hats off, Karen & crew from AZ I taught children in Cozumel in my free time, to swim & pick up trash on the beaches. This is why and where I want to be. There are some great people looking after Seniors here and even building a group home! We took the Refuge children to give hampers to the Seniors at Christmas - it was very beautiful to watch them share with the abuelos!

Epic, result, As a Child having lived in Hamilton Ont., Canada I found myself in foster homes from the age of 11 to 16 with the Catholic aid society. Education is everything... I fully understand the good you're doing from personal experience. Today I live in Sydney, Australia, I'm planning to conduct clinical trials in Mexico for HIV/Aids as I have found a small drug discovery startup biotech company. If all goes well, I may end up moving to Mexico for a few years to complete the drug clinical development. This is my story, It can happen if people like Karen help children grow on their way, as I had the same help in Foster homes, as a child growing up in Canada. Keep up the good work, Karen and your team.

@@MovingToMexiCo I think often people want to contribute when living long term in Mexico but dont know wehre to begin, or wehre to get informed about what exists. It would be great to have a website that itemized volunteer options with resettled Canadians, or Mexican organizations where retirees could join and offer suppor in their areas of expertise.

Wow, I'm so thankful to God this popped up on my YT page-and I didn't even know it was about Bucerias! I was blessed enough to spend about a week there 20 years ago-it was wonderful! I hope it hasn't changed much. Praise God for working through this kindhearted woman to help children and their families. God bless you!
Regretfuly everything is changing little by little...All the rustic,the original,the calm,the magic is gone in that area.From PV to Sayulita it's a lot different than 20 years ago...But it keeps its beauty though...

I have been living on & off in Mexico since the 80’s. This is what it is all about. Hats off, Karen & crew from AZ I taught children in Cozumel in my free time, to swim & pick up trash on the beaches. This is why and where I want to be. Such beautiful people & culture.Please look at your senior care locally & see what the nuns need, fans, food, etc. I am following you. Blessings & what great inspiration and love. G in AZ ❤
There are some great people looking after Seniors here and even building a group home! We took the Refuge children to give hampers to the Seniors at Christmas - it was very beautiful to watch them share with the abuelos!

My husband and I currently live in Mexico and we will be traveling through the different parts of Mexico in a few months. I will do some homework on Bucerias to see if it is workable within our travels so we can volunteer at Refuge of Hope while we are there. Epic, result, As a Child having lived in Hamilton Ont., Canada I found myself in foster homes from the age of 11 to 16 with the Catholic aid society. Education is everything... I fully understand the good you're doing from personal experience. Today I live in Sydney, Australia, I'm planning to conduct clinical trials in Mexico for HIV/Aids as I have found a small drug discovery startup biotech company. If all goes well, I may end up moving to Mexico for a few years to complete the drug clinical development. This is my story, It can happen if people like Karen help children grow on their way, as I had the same help in Foster homes, as a child growing up in Canada.
