We moved here several months ago and I have been wondering about whether or not I need blood pressure meds anymore. Thanks for the info...I am going to look into it.
Me and family are from Mexico. Lot of things we love from US. But something we miss from Mexico is the medical attention. Doctors (private) are pretty affordable for medium class and, like any other business, they treat you as customer they want to keep. In US, medicine is really expensive and doctors treat you like you don't deserve them...
Exactly states doctors are very. Not ethical. They know and his status quo very. What can I say t. Better. Rest my case. But no doubt Mexico. Beats. The Inflation for. Retaired. And semi retaired. Blessing and. Good luck.for people fom. The. States. From so Calif.
Great information, I retired to Ajijic in 2006 and have found the low stress level of life here really makes my life so much better! I lived in Chicago, then moved to New Mexico where the winters were much more liveable but tired of the lack of flowers and greenery and when I came to Lakeside I fell in love and still love living here! When I arrived the reports showed 1 million expats were living here then 1.5 million and now 1.8 million U.S. expats are here! Whatever your plans to retire are you really need to check this country out and it will surprise you in so many ways!
I been in Mexico City for 3 weeks now. I feel like it's about the safest place I ever been, and I've been to 5 Continents. Weather is perfect. Cool in the morning and very warm after 10 am.
I need a change i am in my 60s and retired. I am doing as much research as possible about mexico. Being retired in the USA sort of sucks for me. I have no kids and am not married. Everyone i know is chasing the buck, depressed and stressed out to the max. People here locally are walking around like zombies. Many peope are on depression meds. I am glad the expats are finding happiness in Mexico. Getting rid of stress in your life is the best thing for your health.
What's holding you back? I recommend you start exploring Mexico ASAP so you can get your personal journey started. I think you'll be much happier in Mexico!

I enjoy your comprehensive videos. It’s helpful to know the costs of rent, utilities, food and lifestyle of retirees in Mexico for those of us considering retirement down South.
My health is always better when I'm in Mexico. The best part about it is, it doesn't take too long. Best part about it is I can walk better, my arthritis is not painful. I'm planning on moving soon.
Mexico is ready when you are. I hadn't thought about arthritis. Our cat had arthritis - I assume that works the same for animals. He was definitely more active in Mexico.
My gosh is this compelling. I retired at 47 nine years ago, and trying to 'make it work' in the US is becoming more and more bleak. Everywhere I look to settle for the long term is a madhouse in its own way, and nowhere anymore feels right. I am a kind person who craves a quiet peaceful place, wanting to give to a community and feel integrated and a friend. My mental health is shot living in the US and not because "I'm not tough enough"; rather I'm not that cruel, rude, crass and selfish enough. I'm very fortunate to not have any $$$ issues and it would seem I could "live like a king" in MX, but as with now want very few things and want to continue to live a simple, uncluttered, minimalistic life. I love to surf fish so this would be ideal, but I also like to target shoot and wonder if i could own a rifle/shotgun/handgun to continue this in MX. Thanks for this video, it really speaks to me.
Thanks for the video, been watching a lot of relocating to Mexico videos but first time seeing one about La Paz, really never even crossed my mind until I watched your video! I’m 59 and want out of southern california.
Just a quick note to add to your list of why Mexico is better. I went to Mexico last year in September and purchase a botle of water at oxxo it was about 0.75 cents of a dollar, that same botle of water in Australia at a vending machine at my work it costs $4.50.
I’m also originally from Nebraska, lived there nearly 60 years. I moved to Alabama in Nov 2020 because my daughter lives here. The winters are much better (and I wouldn’t go back to those winters!) but the pollen here gets me every spring and fall. I’m still researching Mexico for retirement but getting push back from my daughter. I haven’t even mentioned it yet to my son who still lives in Nebraska 😅 I take medicine for high blood pressure so I’ll keep a close eye on that when I move. Thanks for the video!
Yes, have heard about this happening to quite a few people!! Less stress, their blood pressure gets reduced, and if they still take the meds, yikes!! Good to have a blood pressure monitor.
It certainly is for me. I love it here and have grown very fond of the "small town" atmosphere of Centenario. Such friendly people. I've got great neighbors.
Great video, BW and Terry. I enjoyed that. It also made me feel envious and sad. I'm trying to figure out how to move back down there sooner rather than later. I really think continuing to live in Wisconsin and having to put up with snow, rain and lots of sunless days has affected my health terribly. Also my anxiety and depression has grown and I never had any of this when I lived there. Thanks again, BW, for helping to motivate me more to moving ahead faster towards my dream. I've lost 55 lbs, my blood pressure is down to 114-120/68-70, my cholesterol is down to 120, and I don't have to shovel snow to go to the store; I just walk in sandals, shorts and a tee shirt. I've stopped my heart meds my doctor is happy and my dentist as well. I spend less on top notch medical care than my deductible for rushed crowded medical care in the states. And my doctors respond to WhatsApp messages in one or two hours and will work in an appointment the same day if necessary. Healthy food, a healthy climate, and friendly, courteous people have made a hugely positive difference in my life.

Wow, Centenario has really grown since i was last there 15 years ago. One thing about Americans moving to Mexico, (I used to drive the Baja every winter), they've bought and blocked access to my favorite remote beaches and gentrified so much. The locals in Cabo live inland in a village for the "servant class" which is what gentrification does. I do not drive South anymore because my memories will be ruined like what happened last visit. That's a helluva ask.

Thank you for this comment. Terry is such a happy guy now!
We moved here several months ago and I have been wondering about whether or not I need blood pressure meds anymore.
Thanks for the info...I am going to look into it.
@@cmt635 So glad you are gonna see a doctor. It's so cheap down here. Please let me know how it goes!
This is so true! People don't realize how bad the medical system in the US functions.
Exactly states doctors are very. Not ethical. They know and his status quo very. What can I say t.

Thanks for sharing your experience Luis!
Correction, is not "expats" it is "immigrants" like every person who immigrates to a foreign country.
Gracias Mexico por su hospitalidad.
Si!
Dude! This is the best and most optimistic story I have watched here in UA-cam in a long time, perfect energy and delivery .
Glad you enjoyed it, Muriel!

Terrys comments are so genial to Mexico… he’s getting a lot more out of life …you can tell thru his appreciation that is expressed❤
So true Karen!
I been in Mexico City for 3 weeks now. I feel like it's about the safest place I ever been, and I've been to 5 Continents. Weather is perfect. Cool in the morning and very warm after 10 am.
Mexico City still has some rough areas, but there are many very safe parts too! And the weather is perfect!
Hey guys, I'm definitely thinking about moving to Mexico. It is something I've never thought of before. I'm ready for a new stress free life
Omg this is amazing! I am a lifelong runner, vegetarian, etc. and right at lockdown my BP shot up to over 200/80. Scary! I am on meds and am wondering what will happen when we move down…
I hope that Mexico treats you as well as it did Terry! Just be sure to track your BP when you get here!
I just sent this to my BF, I’m trying to get her to move to MX with me to leave our long term Nursing careers. We need stress relief ha ha. So glad he went to a Doc and love to hear about all the wonderful medical services in Mx. Great video, thank you!
Good luck the the convincing, but know that you can come on your own too. Watch Leenie’s story here: Retired Early in Mexico [San Jose del Cabo]
ua-cam.com/video/CYNmZIbnuP8/v-deo.html
I've also heard of people who are on anti-depressants in the US rat race, can cut back or go off of their meds down in BCS. I think it's wonderful!
That totally makes sense!
I enjoy your comprehensive videos. It’s helpful to know the costs of rent, utilities, food and lifestyle of retirees in Mexico for those of us considering retirement down South.
Thanks for commenting! I'm glad I'm on the right track ;-)
I believe that food has a great effect on health, in Mexico almost everything is cooked fresh and natural.
I was told by to Orthopedic Surgeons that I need an ankle replacement. I've been in Mexcio for 6 months and no pain and I'm walking a whole lot.
@@deborahdaley3528 Wow - that's great!
Takin a trip to Mexico in June. Checking with social security today. Very Stressful herein United States. 😊
Good for him! Changing his whole scene, way to go!
Nice to actually know your neighbors!
So true!
Once you become a resident you can join a shooting club.
Very inspiring video. Cant wait to get back.
See you soon!
Health is wealth. Sometimes leaving our comfort zone and live differently is good for the body and soul. great video. Stay healthy.

I travel into Baja once a month for off-roading for a few days to a week. Baja is absolutely the best place in the world
Thanks for the video, been watching a lot of relocating to Mexico videos but first time seeing one about La Paz, really never even crossed my mind until I watched your video! I’m 59 and want out of southern california.
Lots of Californians in La Paz. Lots of West coasters in general. It’s a nice, simple town.
Just a quick note to add to your list of why Mexico is better. I went to Mexico last year in September and purchase a botle of water at oxxo it was about 0.75 cents of a dollar, that same botle of water in Australia at a vending machine at my work it costs $4.50.
And if you buy that water in a 5 gallon jug, it's less than 75 cents! I think the cost is around $5 in the US for the same jug.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico it is 10 pesos, sometimes up to 14 pesos for five gallons of the most delicious water in Mexico.
I haven’t even mentioned it yet to my son who still lives in Nebraska 😅
I take medicine for high blood pressure so I’ll keep a close eye on that when I move.
Thanks for the video!
I love this video! Thanks Brighton and Terry for sharing this exceptional story!

Love this episode Brighton. Happy for Terry and others who are able to move down to Mex and enjoy the beauty of Mexican culture.
Thanks Kate!
Yes, have heard about this happening to quite a few people!! Less stress, their blood pressure gets reduced, and if they still take the meds, yikes!! Good to have a blood pressure monitor.
Very interesting! My wife is from Mexico and this might be a perfect fit for us!
It certainly is for me. I love it here and have grown very fond of the "small town" atmosphere of Centenario. Such friendly people. I've got great neighbors.
Yes - especially if you already have family ties to Mexico!
I could totally live there! Thanks for making the video and opening my eyes to all the good people
Glad you enjoyed it, Chris!
I gotta get to the Milwaukee Consulado and start working on my TR. You rock, buddy!! :)
I hope you’ll make it South soon. I just had drinks with some folks from Madison. They are loving it in La Paz!

The requirements to get residency in Mexico now are very high. Most people, that I know anyway, don't have $52,000 dollars in the bank.
Then leave every six months
Well, Brighton, after being prompted by a lot of people that saw it already, I actually did watch it! And it wasn't horrible! You did such a great job assembling it, and bringing the info out of me in a very artful way. You're a master and I wasn't ill after watching it!😉 Kudos.
So glad watching didn't raise your blood pressure! You did such a great job and it was wonderful spending time with you to hear your story. People are loving watching it. And thanks for answering some comments!
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico De nada. Glad some are getting something from the video. I have to admit it was really fun doing it, and that's a tribute to your producer, director, and interviewer skills.
I moved to a working class community in Veracruz state far from any tourists about 15 months ago. No tourists means no drugs and little crime.
@@Aaron-hr5bbI would be so appreciative of the name of your town, am seeking similar. And my health seems to sense the dire consequences of US medical interactions…
It's amazing how eliminating access to fast food restaurants and junk food can improve your health!
I never thought about that. I have to drive miles to get to a McDonalds. And there is one in my city of 400,000 people! Mass produced fast food is hard to find here!

This was a very interesting and promising video. I've had seven heart-attacks in six years since being back in Chicago. (after traveling in Asia and the US) Doctors can't figure it out. I'm sure 70-80% of my health issues are from the stress of Chicago area. I'm very happy to hear real life stories of people using the healthcare system in other countries. I am honestly scared to travel and yet I have wonderful friends in Mexico and in Asia that I could be living a lot better lifestyle in those places.
Wow! You need to get out of Chicago. Just find a Mexican city with a big enough population to support a hospital. Some of the small towns just have clinics.

My sister has a rheumatologist in Mexico. In her first appointment she took her off the medication stating it was too high. She gave her a new medication with a low dosage and would start there. I agree we are overmedicated in US.

No need for all the stress and the nonsense of the USA.
Great video Brighton, Gracias Amigo!
"An American owns this road."
I reside near Ensenada which hasn't changed as dramatically.
Yeah - it’s definitely changed. Part of the problem is the roads getting better. More folks can get here easily!
