We've only been in Mexico for 3 months now but my health has DRASTICALLY improved. I was suffering from mold exposure, fungal sinusitis and ulcerative colitis I think might have been caused from that exposure, too. ALL gone, including my seasonal depression. And now I can afford health care here and it's accessible. I was in Oregon for 23 years and enough is enough!

I am a social worker, I work with seniors. Many of our California seniors are barely making ends meet and when there is a disruption in their life, many have been on the verge of losing their housing and some do lose their housing. Living in Mexico would be so accommodating for them. Their dollar would stretch a lot better. When I hear you say how supportive neighbors are, from checking on you, to offering to take you to doctor, to bringing you soup. How nice is that. I wish my senior clients had this.

Thanks for your work! So necessary. Unfortunately, residency in Mexico has gotten harder to get (financial requirements.) So it may not be the best option for the less well off in the US, but those in the middle class who can't afford $10k a month for assisted living can get to Mexico and find it much cheaper (and nicer.) ua-cam.com/video/0ZadadvTVDE/v-deo.html

My high blood pressure problem disappeared after a few months of living in Mexico last year; when I returned to the UK I was back on the medication within 10 days!

I'm first generation American of Mexican parents. I'm also a Veteran, tried to retire from the military but didn't quite make it to the 20 yrs. Lucky for me though, due to my injuries and deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I did get my pension from the VA after 12 yrs of service, so I've been basically retired since my early 30's. Went to film school using the GI Bill, doing photography now, work part time for music festivals and concerts. I never married nor had kids, and only recently started looking at houses outside of California, and its too damn expensive. I've decided to move to Oaxaca where my parents are from. They are retired but living here in California and don't seem to want to go back to Mexico for good, but I am ready to move down there soon. They have their homes down there which i can use, but eventually I want to build my own modern home. No way am I trying to get a $3000+ mortgage here in America. My gosh is this compelling. I retired at 47 nine years ago, and trying to 'make it work' in the US is becoming more and more bleak. Everywhere I look to settle for the long term is a madhouse in its own way, and nowhere anymore feels right. I am a kind person who craves a quiet peaceful place, wanting to give to a community and feel integrated and a friend. My mental health is shot living in the US and not because "I'm not tough enough"; rather I'm not that cruel, rude, crass and selfish enough.
I'm very fortunate to not have any $$$ issues and it would seem I could "live like a king" in MX, but as with now want very few things and want to continue to live a simple, uncluttered, minimalistic life. I love to surf fish so this would be ideal, but I also like to target shoot and wonder if i could own a rifle/shotgun/handgun to continue this in MX. Thanks for this video, it really speaks to me.

Just a quick note to add to your list of why Mexico is better. I went to Mexico last year in September and purchase a botle of water at oxxo it was about 0.75 cents of a dollar, that same botle of water in Australia at a vending machine at my work it costs $4.50.

I’m also originally from Nebraska, lived there nearly 60 years. I moved to Alabama in Nov 2020 because my daughter lives here.
The winters are much better (and I wouldn’t go back to those winters!) but the pollen here gets me every spring and fall.
I’m still researching Mexico for retirement but getting push back from my daughter. I haven’t even mentioned it yet to my son who still lives in Nebraska 😅

I've lost 55 lbs, my blood pressure is down to 114-120/68-70, my cholesterol is down to 120, and I don't have to shovel snow to go to the store; I just walk in sandals, shorts and a tee shirt. I've stopped my heart meds my doctor is happy and my dentist as well. I spend less on top notch medical care than my deductible for rushed crowded medical care in the states. And my doctors respond to WhatsApp messages in one or two hours and will work in an appointment the same day if necessary. One thing about Americans moving to Mexico, (I used to drive the Baja every winter), they've bought and blocked access to my favorite remote beaches and gentrified so much. The locals in Cabo live inland in a village for the "servant class" which is what gentrification does.
I do not drive South anymore because my memories will be ruined like what happened last visit. "An American owns this road."
I reside near Ensenada which hasn't changed as dramatically.
