Definite Pros in my opinion 1. G-Shock 2. Alarm functions ( flash, sound or vibration ) 3. Best vibration motor for a Casio 4. CR2032 coin battery 5. Direct Timer Button 6. Legibility
Amazing review. I agree with you. I think the GD350 is a masterpiece. I would add that, in my experience, Big Sky fits relatively easily under a lot of sleeves, whereas GD350 doesn't. Also, GD350 actually wakes you up in the morning, whereas Big Sky causes you to miss the flight or get fired from your job when you sleep through the alarm. The Snooze Function is a game changer when you use the vibration alarm to wake up.
You know, I initially got my 350 in the hopes that it could replace the vibration alarm in my Apple Watch. I use the AW for fitness tracking and at night. Its vibration alarm is the best alarm clock I own. Unfortunately, the Casio just isn’t strong enough to compete. That said, I’ve kept it as a hunting watch. I set the alarm for the time that the law says I have to stop hunting. It can be under layers and I don’t have to keep moving around at last light to check the time. For that reason, it’s a keeper for me.
I think you or someone else mentioned that before and I started doing that for hunting now. Thats a huge plus and no audio to alert any game that might be nearby. Have a great week my friend!
Agreed. I wish they’d use this design more than the rigid strap design. The GD350 design still qualifies under the G-Shock tests so…I’m not sure why they still use that old, rigid design. Thanks for sharing.
Great review. Agreed - the 350 wins easily. The only ways I can think the 350 could be even better are: 1) if the lower left button held down was some short cut to either vibrate mode, return to timekeeping, or mute. 2) if World Time mode also showed the time in the upper right as Stopwatch, Timer, and Alarm modes do. 3) get rid of that unnecessary visual gimmick in the upper left in order to maybe let time/day/date be even bigger.
Those big buttons and the vibro-alarm are great, but I'd say it's too big and a bit too fat for my taste. Therefore, I'm gonna stick to my square GW-B5600 for now. Btw, I'm so glad you value efficiency over the look. I dislike those fancy seconds as much. They could use that part of the display for something else, or even copy the W736H display.
100% on the efficiency of display usage. I agree on the size of this watch when compared to the Square. For tactical purposes, can’t beat the Vib Alarm and the timer access on Home Screen is great for those infrequent but critical timed, coordinated entries etc.
Great comparo video. I thought there was no way the GD-350 would lose as it does have loads of feautures for a still relatively affordable price. One advantage of the G-Shock is the modular construction. As you can swap out the bezel, you can keep it looking fresh for as long as you want. With the Casio, once you bang up the case, as its resin, nothing can be done. By the way, welcome to the world of big Gs. They know how to keep them comfortable despite the size. I have a few of them and they wear well on my 7.25-7.5 in. wrist. This size of G-Shock will probably look disproportional on smaller than 7 in. wrists.
Thsnsk for the info. I was referring to a level indicator….H/M/L. Your info helps me know when it’s going to crap out on me. Thank you. Have a great weekend.
@@Realidealgearunderstood, and I agree with you, a constant h/m/l indicator would be a much more productive use of space than the redundant minutes/seconds bar graphics.
I absolutely love the GD-350! Those strap flaps are a cool design! Maybe it's to accent the buttons and screws which are also stainless steel? Yes Sir, it was the greyman, I like the different color tint but it looked different to the tint on your GD-350... The display on this looks crisp! I like the functionality on it as well. Vibration trumps alarm in my book as well. I prefer dual time over UTC so in that the Big Sky takes it! Overall I prefer the "Grunt". The bulk speaks to the durability of it! Hope you have a a good day and a fantastic week ahead brother! Take care and God bless you and your family!
I think I may be squeezing out the Big Sky with the Grunt. Twice as much $$ but it also has snooze alarm...and with vibration alert thats a great combo. You take as well. God be with you in S Africa.
@@Realidealgear Thanks for the quick reply. I was looking for a vibration watch to replace the alarm clock that disturbs my wife. I recently found a GD350 with negative display and it has not failed to wake me in the 4 nights I have used it. Just wondering if the 736 was better for this.
Thanks I've always enjoyed these videos. I've had the Big Sky, enjoyed it for what it was but ended up selling it. I just thought it felt a little bit cheap- and it is. So I guess I shouldn't judge it. I don't remember what I paid on Amazon but it's a great deal. I'm eye balling the 350 for some time but not sure if I really need it. I don't think so, but I'd like to try it out. Possibly pick it up on the used market since they sell pretty low. For G-Shocks, I tend to gravitate toward the 5610 or GLX-6900. Those are my favorites but each have some quirks. I like how 350 looks like it's a hybrid of both in a strange way so I may at some point try it out, and if I don't love or wear I'll resell. I haven't browsed your channel but do you ever compare Timex models? Expedition and Ironman are often times pretty good, though not always. I like the more "vintage" ones from the 90s. The new ones however have really legible characters. Might be up your alley. They usually can be found for really cheap too online.
Thanks for watching. I have a video on the Ironman Classic 30. Great Timex watch. I’d try the GD350. I think it the combo you’re saying. The vibrate alert, auto light, and quick access to the timer from the Home Screen are all unique and useful functions. I rely heavily on the vibrate function. It’s awesome. Keep me in the loop on what you decide. I’m curious.
Nice video, well done 👍. I have both watches and I tend to wear the W-736H more often. For me it is a better EDC choice, especially since I changed the stock strap for a fast wrap velcro. I also like the uncluttered display and the backlight better (unfortunately it is a bit short, wish I could set it up to five second as on the GD-350) and the buttons are WAY better (tactile feedback). Overall the W-736H is unbeattable in the "cheap" casio lineage but when things are getting seriously rough, the GD-350 is an extremely good choice and among the top 5 G-Shock's ever made.
GD350 is still available, I think it was discontinued in Japan only but I grabbed anniversary edition during black Friday sale for 60USD. I like the watch for vibration alerts and alarm features, this helps me a lot as I use white noise machine.
Completely agree on the display for a G-Shock. As newsnetworkz mentioned, I've not seen this model discontinued in the US. It's one of the best buys for around $80.
Great video, really enjoyed that, i absolutely love the look of the GD-350, good job ive got it arriving from America to England tomorrow ha ha, i think its the best looking watch I’ve ever seen, thanks for the video mate 👍🏻
Whenever you turn BigSky slightly sideways, the screen is completely washed out. 350 still stood with clearly readable screen in such situation. I think 350 wins readability by far, based on the way you handle them in this video.
Do you know any other casio or g shock with one press countdown timer like that? I need the feature for work, ive been looking for casio referee but it start with 5 minute., and i need the timer for 2 minute.
Was that due to exposure to frequently dusty/ dirty environments? I’m planning on wearing this as a work watch for my lawn maintenance work starting in the spring.
I agree 100%. Excellent option. Review coming out on Casio AE1500 within the next two weeks. I was shocked how legible it was. Vibrate alert, lay flat strap/case, and access to the timer on the GD350 Home Screen are valuable features. I have to say, the AE1500 is THE BEST value under… $60 bar none!!! Have a great day! Thanks for sharing
i got a blacked out gd350 and surprisingly it's now getting the most wrist time.
I’m with you on the increased wear time.
I'm actually looking into one of the blacked out version witha gold accents! 😁

I didn't think of the snooze vibration alert. Thanks for the input. The Big Sky might be on it's way out...bummer.

What a spot on reason for wanting a vibe alarm on your watch, I like that a lot 👍🏻
Great review. I just switched to the GW9500 positive display my wife bought me. My go to was the GD350 negative display before the GW9500
Thank you. The 350 is a keeper in my collection. I should eventually try a negative display shouldn't I?
@@Realidealgear The negative GD350 is the best negative display I have seen.

7yr battery & casio typically underestimate battery life so 10yrs is possible.

Can you alternate between alarm functions once they're set. For example a vibration alarm at 5am followed by a beep and flash at 5:10 ??
Unfortunately no. It's one or the other.

True. I like the auto light of the gd350 and direct access to the timer from the Home Screen.
