Same. I bought a new GW-5000U-1JF and thought I needed to scale down my G-Shock collection until I was ready to part with the under appreciated GW9400 and realized as a weather geek and outdoor guy, why did I always have this watch sitting on the shelf collecting dust? I know I didn't pay for what they are asking for it used now either. I guess it stays.
I never want a watch that needs a charger. Its a sports watch, they need a name other than rangeman in my opinion. I am sure it is great for what it does, I like the GW-9400 as that is more first responded, soldier, survivalist like a rangeman should be, in my opinion. I hate planned obsolescence of smart watches, but that is what sells so Casio is doing great. If they just called it a Sportsman, I would have no issue with it. Looks great for what it does.
You actually can change the watch faces on the watch without the app - settings (press and hold A button - watch settings - watch face. Great video by the way
is there a way to set up the main watch face to have up to 3 time zones visible? like have local time and have L.A. and Busan? or at least have 2 like local time and L.A. ?
I bought this watch but I bought the yellow one because it really caught my eye. Love the watch. Always been a g shock fan. However, in less than a week of normal wear, all the edges as well as the band turned black. It's like the yellow color rubbed off. I went to Reddit and apparently this is a common problem for lighter colored watches like this and there's nothing you can do about it. I am disappointed considering how much I paid for this watch 🤷🏽♂️
Have you tried any other the prescribed cleaning methods? Vinegar and baking soda paste? Rubbing alcohol? Etc. I'm dying to get a yellow one, but this is the exact thing I wanted to avoid.
@crownandbrim9261 I thought for sure a magic erasers would work but it wasn't because it was dirty it's just the paint or whatever it is just starts to wear off
@crownandbrim9261 I don't know what they use to coat it. It's not like it stains anything. It just starts to wear off on the edges. Now it just looks dirty. No one else seems to notice and I always get compliments on it. For me it's just an ocd thing lol
just FYI, if it's indeed the same module as the GBD H2000 then it can't be topped up with tough solar as it's not "tough solar" but "solar powered". I owned one and despite being one full week under direct sun in battery saving mode, iti didnt get one battery bar. solar is not meant to recharge it but to help it discharge slower.
The older rangeman gpr b1000, they should have put the mapping in there... the mapping (if i get lost in a new city or in the wild, take be back with backtrekking or breadcrum ....) and the hourly beep is the only thing that annoys me... why didnt they do that.... (and also maybe quad sensor like the Gulfmaster).
Great review and production. I’m in the market for a new one. I have the 9400. So you think this fits the same on the wrist? Haven’t found a store near me to try it on. Thanks in advanced.
Yeah it does, even though it’s a bit bigger than its predecessor BUT don’t forget about the GBDH2000 Move, activity tracking and was just updated to include trekking! Pretty much same watch but lighter and softer silicone strap. Thanks for watching
How is the watch if wearing 24x7 ? I currently wear a protrek which has a titanium strap and in the last 10 yrs and it has maybe been off my wrist for 10 days. So need to understand how the resin strap with hold up
U will still need to charge every 7-10 days depending how busy the sensors are, plus the GBDH2000 Move has trekking, so it’s a lighter watch and better deal. Personally I have packed them all in now for the Garmin Fenix 7X, I wanted the golf tracking and Solar power, battery can last a month
@@TheCovertCrow Thank you for your response, although my question was more towards the quality of the strap if worn constantly. Comparison with a metal band ?
It can take anything you throw at it. As long as there is enough battery power in it, of course. Solar in this one is to slow down the discharge, not to charge it. In this category, Garmin Instinct 2 solar is a much better option.
@@BJSteigner I'm more worried about that unforeseen kind of dirt like from it rubbing on my desk, or having a denim shirt "bleed" on it. That type of thing. I'm stubborn though, and the yellow is pretty damned cool.
New subscriber here, very informative video, in between the mudman and the rangeman. How's the battery life with the rangeman in normal day to day activities ?
Thanks for watching, it’s pretty good but even normal use of some features costs you power to have accessibility. The average duration is about 8-12 days I’ve found, could be more if you’re not using all the sensors, even with solar assist
It may be a great watch, but these MIP displays just look too much like a smartwatch to ME - even if they are of course easy to read (compared to old LCD negative displays).
It is awesome though...I'm not a big negative display, always liked positive displays better, maybe they will make one soon, but the watch is awesome with what it can do for you...cheers, thanks for watching
