I like the Infantry! The Gerber Suspension is a great Multitool! I had a Center Drive and lost it somewhere while fishing I think. The look on the Infantry is pretty nice. I like the crown. I think the strap having a stainless buckle that is not coated is simply a cost and supply choice. Its cheaper and already available. Coating would add cost. Maybe they did the spring bar thing for durability? Who knows haha! All in all I think its a really nice watch! I agree that the MDC is much more legible. Maybe its because of the inverse coloring. Same story with the lume. I would have the Lorus, but between these two I would have the Infantry Field. That is one really tricky round! That reminds me of Ironwood. Awesome knife handle material but an absolute nightmare to work with. Hope you have a blessed weekend Tim!
Thank you for watching and commenting. MDC is a sleeper field watch company with a couple VERY affordable models including the MDC Infantry (Amazon only).
Thanks for the tip about cutting off and replacing the non removable spring bars. This means that I could fit a Marine Nationale paratrooper style strap, which would be an ideal partner I think. As regards the 50m water resistance rating, I'd like to see these pressure tested to see what they can actually take. I know people who regularly swim wearing "splash proof" CASIO's without any problems. But then thats Casio for you. BTW I am going to go for the MDC. Now where did I put those wire cutters...
These are nice but I have a Seiko SNK809, a Lorus Lumibrite, Vostok Komandirski and Timex Expedition Scout ... next stage of my field watch journey will be a Boldr Venture Carbon ... final goal a Marathon GSAR. Realistically in the field I'm wearing my G-Shock or Protrek. Legibility wise I agree the full lum and full red seconds hand MDC wins but I do love the black and white colorway of the Field - shame about the lum on it. If I had to choose between the two I would prefer the MDC.
All the field watches you’ve listed are excellent! I agree with the Casio being the watch for actual longer term field use. A review of the Casio 350 is upcoming and that is tight ho there with my Protrek for an extended-outdoor/EDC/bugout watch. Thank you for watching and the great ideas.
Kind of a coin toss, but I think I prefer the MDC. It's just a little more legible. And that full lume dial is pretty sweet. Thanks for the Fallkniven cameos!

I do like the Infantry setup. Legibility goes to the MDC.
