Yes indeed dirt falling inside a two stroke will take years off it's life if not destroy it. Cleanliness is next to godliness when it comes to two stroke engines. Zeromark202
Got a 590 last year for a pretty decent deal. On sale plus 10% military for a 24 inch bar. Before any gas touched it I popped the limiters and bored the muffler. I have no clue if it made a difference since I never ran it stock. But it tuned nicely and sings in the wood now. Next I may try a 620 carb and coil but haven’t decided yet. They really are great saws for the money.
Probably does void the warranty. The local Echo dealer said they wouldn't honor the warranty of my saw since it was bought online via Amazon so I modded it. The saw actually runs a little cooler as the engine now breathes better.
Don't remember, a friend gave it to me. Asked him what size it is, waiting for a reply back. Or just get the o-ring assortment box from Harbor Freight for a few $ and have everything you need for many projects if he doesn't get back to me in time.
A Husky rancher will eat that saw for breakfast bro. It’s not about size, it’s about RPM’s , and my Huskies rev more than anything available today. Echo saws warble and wobble in the wood. Echo makes great equipment with a superior warranty of 5 years, but doesn’t hold a candle to its supposed lesser the Husqvarna Rancher series . A great homeowner saw. Just my two cents, share your thoughts
The Echo CS-590 makes more power than either the Husqvarna Rancher 455 and 460. For the same money as the Rancher 460, the Echo 620p will smoke it. That saw is on par for power eith the Arigl 362 and Husqvarna 562xp.
SxS, stock v stock, a 590 will cut faster than a 450 or a 455, and is slightly faster than a 460. RPM's mean absolutely ZERO if your saw doesnt have the torque to keep them in the power band regardless of brand loyalties.
I've got a 590 and a 450. The only edge the 450 has is weight. I don't have a tach but I'd say rpms are close, but the 590 has the balls the 450 doesn't so it the seems faster. If I could run 2 saws at once I'd race them. I'd put my money on the 590.

Those 2 mods are a must, exhaust mod bumps it up to 5hp+
Small Air compressor is a must though when working on saws.
No idea what it gained but is noticeable! Will talk more about it in a future video!
You need an air compressor, so handy to have compressed air for pre-cleaning before disassembly.
An old paint brush can be used to dust off the saw dust. And you can put the air filter in a warm water.
Using an old paint brush is an excellent idea.

Look up "Buxton Work Saws" on Facebook. He can do a port job on the 590 that outperforms the 620P carb and coil mod.
Thank you sir. I’ll definitely check them out.
@@justinp9451 own both, wish I would of bought the 620p first, love my 590 tho, just think the 620 is worth the extra money.
Love your 590 even more now an always love seein you run it
I love it more now that it has a bit more power. Doesn't struggle as much in big oak. You'll see that in an upcoming video.
Nice muffler mod on the saw
Heck yeah sounds good!
It sounds good, isn't obnoxiously loud, plus it gained power!
How is the saw running now? You made this video a year ago, I just watched.
No idea. Traded it in on the Husqvarna T540xp that I bought. Up until then, it was running great.
I think I can do the same on my 620p. Did you tune the carb before your test cut?
I did tune it a little bit. Sound didn't seem to change much or feel in regards to rpm.
It did gain a little bit of power. Cuts nicer now.
You have the O-ring now lol
I could do this same thing on my 620?
@@backyardfirewood9852 it's identical yes
Do these mods void the warranty?
Probably does void the warranty. The local Echo dealer said they wouldn't honor the warranty of my saw since it was bought online via Amazon so I modded it. The saw actually runs a little cooler as the engine now breathes better.
Did you tune it?
Didn't have to re-tune it much. Must've already been running close to perfect.
Good morning from Piqua Ohio
Good morning from my frigid cold beer delivery in Waite Park, MN.
What sized O-ring goes on the air filter
Don't remember, a friend gave it to me. Asked him what size it is, waiting for a reply back. Or just get the o-ring assortment box from Harbor Freight for a few $ and have everything you need for many projects if he doesn't get back to me in time.
The o-ring size is 7/8 inch outside diamater and goes in the air filter where it matches up to the carb inlet.
@@thefirewooddoctor
Thanks alot, I appreciate it. I won't have to worry about anything getting in my Timberwolf now
@@dentondunn4346, also use a tiny bit of dielectric grease on it too.

@jayminer9416 the Echo 590 has a nice torque curve. Pulls a 24in bar nicely for what it is.
