Always refreshing to see somebody show that it doesn't have to always be base, wash, edge highlighting.
You made this video enjoyable to watch. I like it when a video gives some ideas to try out oneself and not just consuming somebody painting really good.

    Super Zusammenfassung!
Definitiv megastressig. Ich hoffe, es bleiben keine Schäden übrig.

I'm somewhat surprised that the educational quality of miniature videos seems to be going up and up and up because this video is by far the best explanation of "tabletop++" quality painting I've seen thus far. Darren prefers a more Citadel style while Vince is a bit too chaotic :P

I teach miniature painting classes at a local store and I always recommend your channel to my students, this video and the last one are F**king gold and packed full of educational material that breaks people away from the GW method which in is a trap to new painters imo

You give the best advice, and your style is eye candy with all the fine details and light effects. But I finally comment, because your update from the house was cut very funny. As someone who grew up with Simpsons, South park, Patrice O'Neal and two boys with ADHD I am surrounded with funny stuff forever and not easy to surprise, but you got me chuckling and laughing my ass of today - well done sir and have a great day

I haven't started to paint minis yet, but you just complete revolutionized the way I see the hobby!
It is the first time I feel really compelled to begin, all the minis, even the ones made by professionals always looked so unrealistic to me that there was nothing to aim for on the long run, there were the fantastic ones that just seemed even more unattainable, but now I understand why they are so good and what to work towards some day! Thank you!

I love the outtakes! UA-cam viewers on the whole can’t imagine how long it takes to be concise and clear. I could never do it! It’s hard enough for me to design and record a 15 minute lecture for my online courses. To be a teacher AND produce this level of lesson video is a serious time investment-so thank you! And I learned a lot.

Finally found a legit video here. The only miniatures I've ever painted were my hero quest figures when I was about 12. I build scale race car and motor bike kits and this definitely helps bring my driver/rider figures to life. Thanks, you're the best I've seen on you tube by far!

    This man's work is astonishing..
When people are at this level with a skill I want to attain, well it tempts me.to just give up.
The control and steadiness with the brush, he is so accurate it is as tho it is solid to the very tip.
The model looked amazing at the beginning then some how he goes beyond that....
    Truly ore inspiring.

I know it a terrible way to paint miniature but I usually paint them "battle ready" with basic edge highlights and call it a day then jump back to my old models and make them better focusing on learning on technique at a time when I feel like Im confident enough to try.. I mean.. My models do look good enough to be played but Im terrible at "realistic" highlights.. id need a step by step "how to do video".. otherwise I sometimes end up making them WORST while spending extra time on them which is very frustrating. You got yourself a new sub. You actually really good at showing/explaining

Hi Chris, thanks for the great video! I have this box and I'm going to follow along both of these videos, and I might even jump on your patreon for the rest.
I have one piece of unsolicited feedback, but please take it as you will - I'll keep watching regardless :) I might be alone in this but I personally find it frustrating when content creators complain that certain kinds of videos don't get views. I think it's probably alienating for your casual viewers, who might be thinking "you're right I wouldn't watch that, maybe this channel isn't for me." And for your regulars, we might be thinking "I would watch that, why aren't you just making that video." Obviously you need to make accessible videos in order to make a profit off of them, and that might prevent you from making exactly what you want to make, and I empathise with that - but I'm just not sure if the video script is the right place to express that sentiment. Anyway, I know it was just one sentence in this 15min video and, as I said, I enjoy your videos and appreciate the work you put in but, for me, they would be even better without that one sentence.

Thank you for yet another amazing video, sorry about the damp sucks bro. You mention dry brushing as a simple method which it is, how would you suggest learning how to get a steadier hand, I have tried edge highlighting etc but it just seems to be to thick or too uneven, sorry to be such a noob looking at how easy you make it seem I do feel a little embarrassed

you should use a painting handle (pill bottle, cork, etc.) and rest your palms against each other, or against the handle with your elbows planted firmly on the table. also get magnifying glasses and a brush with a good tip. i have recommendations for both in the description.

4:54 that sucks man really it does. That's the kind of thing that would really send me into a spin. btw many of the techniques you've shown here, I've kinda accidently discovered here and there as I will slowly and inevitably move away from the edge hlighlighting 'Eavy Metal style (nothing wrong with this style - its very cartoony though).
