"Cant forget the balls"
"Also, blue balls!!"
Indeed, balls
I don't know how sports commentators do their jobs without cracking up all the time
Cricket has some fantastic terms@@MidwinterMinis
Much thanks to Guy and Hatty for their support. The auctions both go live Feb 1st. Now to get them to play BB as well!
Best auction purchase ever. 😊😊😊
The music that played during Hatty's sections was fantastically chosen. I feel that the Super Ghouls n' Ghosts music was a very nice touch, especially.
14:55 - Incredible ... the first Chameleon Saurus! Congratulations on finding a new spawning pool, in a cardboard box of all places.
Cool to see some Blood Bowl kits on the channel at long last, they have such a great silly range of models. As always very helpful to see how you guys work out the colour theory, these came out looking great!
Bright and Vibrant! I'd be into seeing more (friendly) painting competitions between both of y'all
Me too! That's a good ideer
Blood Bowl is my favourite incarnation of the Olde Worlde; just the right level of silliness.
Great looking teams; especially the luminous flesh on the Frankenstein Creatures.
The way the editing did Guy dirty with that Churchill dog clip got me 😂
Have to give the edge to the spooky boys. The colors but also a bigger fan of that teams models.
Love this, not only do I love seeing more Blood Bowl in my mini painting youtubes, a lot of the techniques in this are exactly how I paint my teams. I HATE seeing a pile of brown fighting a pile of brown on the pitch, Blood Bowl is such a cartoony game, it deserves COLOUR. I love having high contrast minis on the field.
You can always try to mix some gloss acrylic medium with water and some flow aid to make some home made nuln oil gloss, for the ratios I would keep to Lester Bursleys mixture for his own wash medium. Which is 10:1 distilled water to flow aid (the liquitex one) and then 50/50 of that mixture with medium. Works like a charm. Add any ink colour you want and washes galore!
This was really fun. A great example of how simple techniques can look amazing. That nmm came out great
Finally some Blood Bowl content 🥰🥰🥰
Finally Guy covers Blood Bowl, the best game GW ever made or makes bar none.
I read that as "Family Guy covers Blood Bowl".
I would pay to see that.
It is the best of the silly gw aesthetic.
However, I'm willing to die on the hill that middle earth strategy battle game is the only perfect game system games workshop has ever produced.
I am not normally into bright colors but that lizard team really rocks! Makes me wonder what an Aztec themed Space Marine chapter could look like.
Nice! Bloodbowl is the best game GW do. It’s fantastic fun 👍🏻
Great video. Would love to see more kits being painted. Keep up the good work.
Been looking into blood bowl recently and this is great motivation to jump in and try a fun color scheme!
its honestly so much fun. I have 3 teams already (Norsca, Dwarves, Necromantics)
"Oooh yes!" *nods*
Small tip, put the turn markers on a 25mm base so you arent constantly knocking them over when playing blood bowl.
I love both squads... but spookey undead, too cute
Those are nice lizards. I like the lizards.
Thanks bud!
Absolute brilliance! This video is a beacon of creativity in a sea of content.💞
Well played
Hatty's face @13:54 hahaha I'm with you Guy cheated!!! REDO!!!! Nice to see some Blood bowl minis!
Stinky Lizards look great
More hatty....and more colors !!!!! So glad for you success 1:28
Two balls jokes in a single video. Perfection
Great to see some Blood Bowl love on this channel!
My local hobby store just started its Blood Bowl League, so the timing of this is delightfully serendipitous.
Guys dino boiz lookk so wonderful. would really love to see Guy tackling more HappyBright schemes like that. Would also love to see more of these painting competions in future
I couldn't say which team's paint job I liked better. They're both fantastic. But I use that same "Halloween" paint scheme whenever I paint Orcs. (I've always painted Orcs as part of Orktober, which puts me in a Halloween mood).
Just amazing.
I've been following your videos about minis for a long time. Today I stumbled in a tutorial for a keyboard and I went "Wait! I know this guy!" and then "... well actually I don't, but it feels like meeting a friend"
Awesome video as usual, by the way
0:42 The ressemblance is shocking
can't wait for a game! maybe make a pitch themed after one of the teams?
Thanks you two! Now we just have to get you both playing the game!
That would make Ant's dreams come true
liked both
Also 'Blue Balls'! Ooh, suit you sir!
I love this video, it's made me want to go and buy come lizardmen for my blood bowl, I found it amazing how you both got great results from very little and simple designs. My skaven blood bowl team is a mess and I wish I'd have seen this first before painting them, although I only have 1 contrast paint l, time to experiment!
Nuln oil gloss was the best wash GW ever created. I bought 2 bottles when I heard they were discontinuing it. I should have bought 10 :D
We live in regret. Good to hear from you, old pal!
I'm painting on Watch It Paint It now - I still watch your stuff on the regular 😄Blackstone Fortress feels like a lifetime ago haha @@MidwinterMinis
The undeads remind me of typical monster toys from the 90s and for nostalgia reasons I think I like them a bit more. But overall I enjoyed the popping colours on both teams :)
I'd have said Post It Note Yellow, but you do you, Guy
Guy and Hatty learn blood bowl batrep when 👀
Ant has been trying to get us to play for years!
Looking forward to GW releasing the colour "Streaky Pissy Yellow!"
I love vibrant colours! I've grown to love contrast paints. The newer ones are really highly pigmented, & remind me of inks. I like using them as washes & glazes too. Also, it's cool to see these more wacky limited pallet videos. I think you can get more creative that way & have some fun.
Thin plasticard, remove slotta from model feet, plastic glue - done.
Strong and durable slotta coverage
Definitely the spooky boys is my favorite! Sorry guy. I like the lizards too.
I literally just picked up the Blood Bowl starter box last week so this is coming. at a great time.
Both teams come out looking great!
I’ve been on the fence about blood bowl recently and this is pushing me towards it 😂
Do the thing
Hatti acting all surprised that Guy cheated on the color scheme and highlights.
Do you not remember the watergun terrain build off where he cheated his rear off?
These both look great, I'd go with the spooky bois all the way! 🤘🖤
Bonus likes for the Ghouls and Ghosts music when revealing the full spooky bois paint job 🤘🖤
Loved this video!
really impressed with that nmm gold! fun technique for getting it done quick
Woah! I just got my 6 zombie lineman finished and based yesterday, then see your video this morning, weird! For the bases I just squirted PVA into the bottom of the slot, when it dried it shrunk to a little lower than flush but you can not tell at all after basing with sand and fake grass. Your models look great!
Well done both of you! Would be happy to win either team in the auctions.
Love both teams fun and simple. I've never tried slapchop so I will have a go.
I am on team spookeh.
15:00.
That awkward embarrassment in the tone is hilarious!!!! 😂😂😂
Guy painting bright turquois made me nostalgic for the video that brought me here in the first place - the collab with Dana Howl!
It would be cool if you made a video on how to play blood bowl!!
Loved both teams. Think I would actually consider getting both after watching the two of you paint them (hadn’t really liked the look of them before seeing you both paint them)
Another option for filling in base slots is plasticine coated with superglue, as recommended by a random White Dwarf in the early '90s. 😁Dead cheep and no mixing required, plus if you get a pack of green plasticine you can pretend it's green stuff...
And the style of underpainting Guy used is offically known as "zingbo style" and there are Discord logs to prove it! 🤣
So happy to see you guys doing some Blood Bowl minis! How about a Blood Bowl battle report.....?
Hey everyone, the auctions will now go live today Jan 31st at 8:30 am EST!!!
And they are now both live! Happy bidding, and thank you for helping the CJBM support this important fight!
I love the colours chosen for the spookier ones, but Lizardmen are just way more my thing. Can't pick a favourite, because both have good things, but if I had to choose between the two it's to Hatty, for choosing a delicious orange and purple ^_^
Two sets of really nice looking minis. Love that you're covering a bit of Blood Bowl and leaning into the bright and colourful options it presents.
I always used to use sticky tape for covering the slots on bases when needed. Glue and basing always held it down
Nice to see someone give a shout out for the Gloss washes! Still reckon they are the best acrylic washes that ever was...
Damn Time to buy a blood bowl team now (thanks guy for yet another impulse purchase)
BVB is a hell of a club to manage! I still remember the good ol' days with Jan Koller, Sforza, Rosicky, Jorg Henrich... oh man what a grea team. Well done Guy!
Stinky dinosaurs look like a bright University of Michigan. I like.
For my Nuln-oily wash, quite simply, I follow the recipe you gave us in a video five years ago.
I painted my ghost sheet players like piss stained bed sheets from the water boy movie
Like both, but the spooky boys appeal to me more. Might steal it for my tyranids
Glad you paid so much attention to your balls. 10/10
Both of these teams look amazing but the undead team is definitely my favorite
Cool as always.🏈
Appreciate it!
Re. The slotta problem, I've found the best method to be cutting paper into strips a little wider that the slot. Glue the model in place and put the paper strip over the slot, sliding the edge under and sculpted rocks or toes of the model. Then douse it with super glue. It turns the paper rock hard and means you're not relying on PVA glue to hold the whole base/model connection. Lastly just trim the excess paper with a craft knife using the beveled edge as a guide. (The ca glue soaked paper will act almost like plastic)
This gives you a minimally invasive method of covering slots and you leave most of the base untouched for plastic to plastic adhesion later on.
Happy days!
Alternative to nuln gloss
Take a bottle of army painter dark tone, add airbrush thinner and gloss medium/varnish. Ratio is 4:1:1 strong tone, thinner, gloss medium/varnish.
It's the closest I've gotten
Good job guy. I guess atleast it wasnt a full hatty video.
01:13 I kind of expected her to say "milliput squeezy"
A DYI wash using floor varnish (Pledge Future or Clear) and black paint has an equivalent effect than the old Gloss GW wahres.
Oh man... The pigments 1 tutorial video man I just saw this morning was just tilting me 'how am I pretty sure I know this man ? wtf'... well ok it took the shirt to make everything click at last :D
I feel like you ought to have grabbed some of the pastel speedpaints, particularly for the yellow, with that color swatch. Pastel yellow is fantastic. Grim Black is also a favorite of mine. It's better than any other black contrast-style paint I've tried.
Thank you for sharing; After applying the "Gloss Nuln Oil" did you clean any off? Matt Varnish before applying SpeedPaint? The recess shading looks Great! Just wondering about these two questions. Your time and reply is most welcomed.
The Black wash from TTcombat is pretty glossy, and you got that if i dont remember wrong from a older video
Also, blitz bowl is amazing and way more accessible than full bloodbowl.
The music for Hattie's miniatures on the 'How did we do?' section sounds like the theme song from Gargoyle's Quest for Gameboy, when Firebrand enters the instance with the fires. Also, Hattie, next time you should think of painting your team to look like the dead football players from the waiting room in Beetlejuice *whistles merrily*
Another method for the slits on the bases that I’ve used sense I started painting is tape, painters tape has a nice texture for paint and texture pastes to bond to
Smart! Why didn’t I think of that?
Yes finally year of watching have payed off
So here is a challenge for you. I have seen heaps of painting challenges but none posted like the one I and my son did once. Instead of 24 hours or 60 minutes try this.
You have a mini that has been base coated in black. You have a box of paints in front of you but they are in riot of position, on the side, upside down, like that. You have ten minutes to do the best job you can with a single brush. In our case we were painting Gondorian horsemen,
Maybe you can spread the challenge around to some of your fellow mates and podcasters. Also, if you are interested I will give you the strategy I used to get 8 colours on it.
I like your genuine, creative approaches. Switching to complementary colours as the current challenge is one of those. But it's really a "you-problem": it seems, YOU (Guy) didn't stick to the set up rules (no highlights).
Guy did you dirty! I like the look of both teams, great work!
I have question for the community, Im in a bit of a rut hobby-wise. But Im slowly crawling out of it. However, Im looking for new paints and I want vibrancy! Really vibrant colors that burns your cornea kind of. Any suggestions? Not necessarily speed paints because I have a tendency to go back fix mistakes all the time
Huge fan of the lizardyboys.
Awesome, I enjoy the challenge videos. Both schemes are great and I really want to play blood bowl now 🙂
Any chance of similar content for Necromunda?
Maybe! I do love Necromunda
I'd love to see some retromunda figures painted grimdark and some modern necromunda painted in the old vibrant style@@MidwinterMinis
I would love to see you play/paint some BlitzBowl!
I love this channel so much, it has been my companion for happy and dark times, and whenever I watch a new video it always it makes me feel better, as if their voices took my problems away
The bright green, purple, tan is my favorite color scheme to use for orcs.
I only recently found out Gloss Nuln had been discontinued after the contents of my 1 bottle took a journey across my cutting board, used it on my mkIV White Scars as a nice greasy effect over the big panels, the gloss gives it that nice "This armour used to be clean" vibe. I cried for 43 hours after I spilled the bottle & found out I couldn't replace it. Currently trying
AMMO MIG-1011 Enamel Black Wash and Vallejo streaking grime to see how they work (both enamels)
Guy’s have serious Dana Howell vibes
I'll very much take that as a compliment!
@@MidwinterMinis Dana would have added pale sand to the yellow not white though 🤣🤣🤣🤣
7:30 Would something like a black Contrast/ink and acrylic floor polish do the job, perhaps?
