    I use these rollers exclusively. In fact, with the exact same set up you have there. I don't think I could use anything else now. They're brilliant.
    As for washing rollers out, I've had this conversation with my decorator mates a few times. It's a dilemma. Is it more environmentally friendly and economical to wash or throw? I've leaned more towards throwing them away after a couple of uses. You can buy pretty decent throw away 9" rollers these days and you've not got to spend 45 minutes running water and chucking paint down your plug hole.

      I have the same dilemma but tend to reuse quality rollers over and over, I roll out as much paint as possible, leave in a can of warm soapy water for and hour or so then rinse for about 5 mins. Seems to do the trick for me. I'm on the search for a mini sleeve roller spinner, I have a 11/4 sleeve spinner which is a godsend.

      I'm finding that if you leave them damp, then come to use the roller it seems to ooooze out some water at first with the paint, water that wasn't there when shook out after washing.

      @Phil Beckwith The Professional Painter & Decorator Yeah, you've really got to give them a good spin. I tend to keep wet in the paint I'm using. It's fine in satin but they're no good after a few uses with Johnno's brush killing WB undercoat.

    I'd just bin it. I do exactly the same thing as you with the edge of the door and moldings.
    Here's a tip if you haven't tried it.
    You don't have to brush the moldings in, you can actually use the the little nooky roller. Just cover it and tip it off as you normally would a panel..
    Great work.

      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  Рік тому +1

      I did try not to brush the moulding, but it didn't look so good, with how quick i could go around it with the 2" I kept with it and just filled in with the roller. The paint goes on so well.

      @@ProfessionalPainterDecorator absolutely Phil, I still use the 2 in these areas. I've had to paint hundreds of doors by just brush alone, so it's definitely great and more efficient and time saving with using the roller in conjunction..
      Obviously many people spray or paint their doors off. But sometimes it's an inconvenience depending on the job, so it's cool seeing you paint the door while it's on. I'm currently working on a two story interior and we've done exactly what you've shown.

    I use 2 fussy blokes exclusively. I sprayed some units a while back, and had to return a year later to do more, but couldn't spray second round, used 2 funny blokes instead and they looked better than the sprayed ones! Would suggest the 5mm nap for the final topcoat to avoid any orange peel.

    Rate the TFB gear highly. Rather than chuck them away after one use, I keep them all in a zip tight plastic bag and chuck them through the washing machine on a Sunday morning with a drop of fabric softener. Come out good as new. The finish on the 5mm nap can be as good as a spray finish depending on what gear you're using, but let's be honest, spraying is more fun!

      But I wear overalls over my jeans... So I get overalls a couple of sizes bigger... 38"
      These I can get over my jeans.. but they are tight.
      My other pair, no probs... Not sure if these are a bit on the small size.
      While doing this series of Vids I just wore them with jeans on... As weather was a bit warmer.

    Can someone please help me out with a question - is Floetrol additive still a thing, or have water-based paints progressed to a level where it's no longer needed?

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  Рік тому +1

      I think some may well do so, I've never used it or flet th need to add anything to my paint, other than a splash of water if it feels a bit too thick (round) when applying it.
      Water based paints are so much better these days.

    Cmon Phil, you should know better. You just can’t get a spray finish with a roller, no matter how much people want to believe themselves, it’s not happening. Granted, you can get a nice even finish but you can’t get away with the orange peel. I’m currently working my way through my own house, where I’m literally almost rubbing the doors back to bare to get rid of the orange peel. It’s a new build, so say no more………… that said, i do like the two fussy blokes sleeves. They’re well made and last a lifetime also, you get great results

    I asked a decorator what rollers they used on doors and they said hamilton prestige short pile felt roller so I went and bought some and what a load of 💩at holding paint but they did leave a smooth finish. I then seen a decorator on tiktok recommending two fussy blokes smooth rollers so I thought I would try them but they are not much better at holding paint so I which I had bought the semi smooth roller now. I need to buy some new brushes but I've never used a angle brush so are these any better than a normal brush
