So this is what happens when Jimmy gets a land
Jacob Fletcher everybody dies that’s what happens
Jimmy has no land problems. Jimmy wins. Jimmy is best player confirmed.

Jimmy wasnt filming in mulan he was actually on a journy to train the art of drawing lands
"We must be swift as the coursing river
With all the strength of a great typhoon"
Yeah, that checks out.
Add the next two lines.
"With all the strength of a raging fire.
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon."
All this make me think is like some amazing world spanning video clip. A river running through a forest, across a plain out to stormy sea as the wind blow up to an island up the side of a volcanic mountain on said island that erupts before panning up to the moon.
Each land type, with the little added bonus of the moon counting as a wastes, an the obvious emralkul connection that it has.
That’s good

I swear to god you make this so entertaining. I love Magic but usually don't watch matches because I dont see the cards clearly or I dont know the card. The editing on these videos and the insight you give during the game on what you think makes this way more engaging and makes me feel like I'm watching a TV show. Thank you guys for the hard work
Yea, I have always wanted to play but it seems so complicated, but watching them has helped me make sense of it all, and now I want to play it more than ever
@@antoniocotillo9595 If you ever need someone to run you through how the game works in a more understandable manner, I can give you my discord tag!
@@antoniocotillo9595 It's tons of fun and way easier than it looks. If I were you I would go down to your local geek shop and ask the people there for advice, tips, and how to play. Most nerds love to show off how much they know and would be glad to help a newcomer and most bring multiple decks along so they can easily play with you to show you the ropes.
Yeah, I agree, it would be cool to play on game knights, but two problems with that, one, I’m 14, and two, I would probably lose, because whenever I play magic with my classmates at school, I never win, even if I put my best cards in my deck

The ol letting a player untap with planar bridge strategy an instant classic
I legitimately laughed out loud. Thanks for that.
*looks at video time* How is there only 10 minutes left?
*Planar Bridge's in an Emrakul* Oh..
*Expropriates* Yup, that's how.
i feel like nowadays they feel like they can only play game knights when a new set or something comes out but i really enjoyed when they just played for fun with commanders from all kinds of sets and i wish it would come back
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Same. Should do 6 or more a year. 4 on releases, then 2 fun.
They do Extra Turns with their own decks
They should do more homebrew decks.
I think it would be dope if they polled the audiences to see what decks they should build and from there invite whoever. I was also thinking it would be dope if they took the most top tier decks that’s won on GK and had like a champion royale Commander game
What happens when jimmy actually gets land? Find out this episode!

What did we learn today? If you run a deck with lots of lifegain, don't waste your utter end on a simple hydra and exile that damn Planar Bridge XD
He was stupid to behign with.
> DJ destroys hydra instead of planar bridge
> Planar bridge puts Erakul into play
> DJ dies
*Outstanding move*
He won with one bridge trigger. If Utter End targetted bridge, he could use it in response and still get that bridge trigger.
@@p4r6g6777 he could have waited until the bridges activation to use Utter End in response to it.
Jimmy didn't have mana to activate the Bridge when that Utter End was cast. That was the only chance they had.
@@rupoldpissoir6854 Responding to the planar bridge activation does not remove its activated ability from the stack. He still would have got the Emrakul out of it.
If Jimmy didn't have the mana to activate it the turn before, that was the only chance to get rid of it.
Still, I don't see anyone mentioning how everyone was getting upset that the utter end was used on anything other than the planar bridge, when no-one else had removal for it and somehow still didn't think it was worth attacking him yet...
The only one to attack Jimmy that round was DJ himself, even if he only did so for the card draw.
Jimmy was clearly going to have the mana to activate it the following turn (land tax was keeping him stocked).
The old 'player removal' adage came into play an entire round too late despite the game-ending threat already being in play.
@@DarkEinherjar That is true, if they were to destroy that was the best chance. I'm not sure it was necessarily the wrong play though. They didn't really die to Emrakrul, but the fact that he could take 5 consecutive turns in a row. If I were in DJs shoes I probably would have destroyed the Planar Bridge (and it sounds like most other people in this thread would as well), but I can see his argument for not. If DJ knew Jimmy could have taken 4 extra turns I'm sure he would have changed his target.
Thought this was Game Knights, not Extra Turns... :D
That's a good one :D
That thought's cute... BUT IT'S WRONG! On another note I did have a pretty similar thought the moment expropriate dropped.

@@dorianwiese6097 Yeah they were like ok but nothing special at all. It feels like ages since the last "real"/"good" episode came out. I think an episode like this would be perfectly fine if it would have a round 2. Like this, it delivered quite little and was not woth the hype or the wait imo.
I oink I
I totally agree on that, as i mentioned in an other comment, last really good / awesome episode was with Gaby and Kenji imo. And that has been a while : / also 35 min feels so short for all the hype. I wonder if they read this and think about playing 2-3 rounds for the future or if it would be to much workload for them.
Yoooo Jimmy, I literally just delivered sushi to your house through Postmates. I knew I recognized you but I didn’t know from where in that immediate second. That’s crazy to me though, big fan dude!
If only Josh would have sacrificed his Bloodghast to High Market and done the last 1 damage to the Emrakul before Jimmy's turn. Could have possibly salvaged the game!
Saw this also. It would have been hilarious.
Yep. They passed the turn, and I immediately started looking for a comment that pointed that out.
I knowwwww
Isn’t it indestructible? So it doesn’t take damage from either
@@Maximocow Emrakul is not indestructible. It has Flying, Trample, and Protection from Instants.
Not that it really mattered, but Josh should've pinged the Emrakul with his high market sacrificing Bloodghast.
I think it actually mattered a lot. That was sort of his main source of damage
But Jimmy was still going to get four extra turns and a powerful board thanks to Expropriate, and he still had Planar Portal to bring out other threats.
@@DarkEinherjarWell he didnt have planar bridge for all 4 of those turns, only 2. And he would have had 26 less damage in the board.
In all likelihood Jimmy was still going to win, but yes that was a mistake.

that is only half the truth. Truth is that Josh could've cast the manacrypt (since he has more than 0 lands), but it would've get countered due to her second ability (since no mana was spent to cast manacrypt)
What about the time he could have killed Emrakul by sacing Bloodghast :D ? (when it had 12 damage on it from Scourge)

Ed Kolbe well this is a redemption, plus extra turns
Marcos,it's you
Marcosatsu yeah that was just straight garbage.
Goroto Jr. I’m a kinda intermediate player but could someone explain why that pro player episode was so hated?
This episode is a great lesson about threat assessment. Never trust a blue player.
Always attack the blue player
Honestly I'd have tried to convince the table to skip land drops in the 2nd turn to lock jimmy out of land tax for 2 rounds that's where the assessment started for me
as a blue player I agree with this assessment lol
Fun Police the entire game and then win out of nowhere, feels blue man
@@Hornswroggle The dream play would be to convince everyone else to keep the Land Tax turned off for a turn and then play a bounce land.
This is probably the 100th time this was said in the comments, but JLK discarded Mana Crypt because Lavinia won’t let him cast it because of her second ability.
DJ: Jimmy's politicking pretty hard right now...

@@DarkX64 that is my point, extra turns are REALLY oppresive
Josh was really mad at DJ
I would've been pissed if I was at that table too. DJ handed Jimmy the game.
for good reason, judging from this game DJ the threat assessment of a potato
Jojoforpres wow, tell us what you really think. DJ's threat assessment was bunk, and that's not snobbery.
I'm pissed at him too. He ruined the game. Sure glad people kept commenting for months that they wish he'd be on Game Knights.
@@orgazmo686971 Yeah that's pretty funny. Everyone wanted him on the show and he ruined it.
Jeez these comment sections have been getting angry lately, cut em some slack lol. Yes there were some misplays and even some bad plays, but that's how commander games go, even with experienced players. Even more so in Game Knights because they don't have to time to test and refine each deck to learn all the interactions like we do with the decks we build and tune over time, and they also haven't played against each other's decks before this, also unlike typical games, so they have no way of really knowing what's in opponents decks.
Should DJ have exiled Planar Bridge instead of Managorger Hydra? Yes, he should have. Was his play wrong from his perspective? No necessarily because he couldn't have known Jimmy was running Emrakul, as he mentioned, he assumed the Bridge was just their to put out more lock down pieces, and was probably expecting Jimmy to grab something more in line with Avacyn or Spelltithe Enforcer
, which seem more likely to be in the deck, given it's controlling nature. A punt for sure, but understandable, especially in the moment.
Should Josh have pinged Emrakul after it blocked Scourge of Kher Ridges? Yes, he should have, but yet again, lack of experience with the decks makes a player less likely to see optimal lines of play with the cards in it. And this one was a super easy play to miss, I swear half of these commenters act like they never misplay either and I'm convinced most of them just saw someone else point out the misplay and act like they saw it too.
If anything, this just goes to show a couple of things, #1: Game Knights is not staged. #2: Gameplay is what you would expect from a UA-cam gameplay series such as Game Knights, Commander Versus or MTG Goldfish, they come up with themes for episodes, have to build unrefined decks that they don't have the time to learn every line of play, and it results less than typical gameplay, usually with one or two players just having stronger rough drafts of what their deck wants to do than the others.
None of this means that they aren't all good players, in fact series like Extra Turns (where they play with their tuned and refined personal decks) just prove how capable they are as builders and players, it just means that Game Knights is more for entertainment and less for representation of what most would consider "actual commander gameplay", if that's what you're looking for, MTG Muddstah, Extra Turns and Playing With Power, may be more what you're looking for.
Take things for what they are, learn to appreciate them (especially with how much time and work goes into these) and stop acting like content creators owe you something, they don't. Plenty of people still love and enjoy the series, the likes vs dislikes on the videos just prove that. And before anyone tries to jump my ass and call me a fanboy, I'm not. I have openly disagreed with their videos several times and even lost my temper once or twice when doing so, which I'm sorry for of course, but I've never been afraid to voice when I disagree. I love Jimmy, Josh and DJ, their content is great and very enjoyable, but I feel that at least some of their fan base, myself included, need to occasionally get reality checked. This series takes alot of effort to make, and all your negative comments and demands are going to do, is make them less likely to want to keep producing them. Back. Off.
^Finally someone said it
I agree that some of us in the comment section are snobby, but the majority of the comment section was disappointed with the quality of the game itself. With one short round of taking extra turns and winning, and essentially none of the Commanders being showcased to the extent where this can be labeled as such, this episode hardly lived up to the hype it generated on Twitter and in the community, if at all. While I understand that content creators don't owe us anything, when they directly state that we should expect a showcase of the new Ravnica Allegiance Legendary Creatures, we hoped for a Game Knights episode with more exciting gameplay and more of a showcase of those Commanders. Game Knights in the past have been much more entertaining, with unique and authentic decks being pitted against each other as the "rough drafts" that you mentioned. I believe I'm speaking for a healthy amount of the comment section when I say that we love the quality and work that goes into these episodes, and I am definitely still a fan of Game Knights, but this episode wasn't one of my favorites due to the disparity between the game played in this video and the hype that they accumulated when producing this episode.
Just gonna throw it out there that regardless of whether or not you know what is in a deck you should if possible go after the planar bridge. That card is too goddamn powerful to just let sit there. Its like letting someone have an omniscience because they have a small hand. I also heavily believe that negativity is essential to the developement of any show or product. Without positive AND negative feedback they cant know what their audience wants nor how they respond to their ideas. Just because its not nice does not mean its not important.
@@flaccidreflex5563 Negative feedback is completely fine, it's the people whining that they should have recorded another episode because this one "wasn't long enough", it takes HOURS to film and edit these videos, I'd think people would be a bit more grateful.
@Ninja Named Bob If you seriously think that people who try to get out an hour long episode every time a new set comes out, so every couple months, and each episode takes days to create, shouldn't be able to create one shorter and less commander-y video, then I think you are the one who has their head up their ass. Also don't say "we" because real fans wouldn't be angry like you are, and what are you talking about it being "not as good." I found the video incredibly entertaining, and even funny at a ton of parts, so don't say it was bad just because you didn't enjoy it, stop being so self centered and think about what others might like.
The magic of a fully powered Jimmy was amazing
27:32 Josh could sac the bloodghast to deal 1 damage to emrakul to kill it. Big mistake.
Edit: he could sac the bloodghast to the high market and because of Judith's ability he could do 1 damage to emrakul to kill it. And I think it actually costet them the game because dj could block the grave titan better and Josh would maybe get another turn/another chance.
Noobs...
Yeah it made me sad when he didnt do that
@@iveltalbaum6125 I get what you're saying, but Jimmy had 2 more uptaps minimum in the bank, even if he could do literally nothing else, that's two planar bridge taps. I'm fairly certain the only changing play was exiling the hydra and not the bridge. Definitely shouldhave done it, just probably didn't realize in the moment.

The thing is
Lavinia did absolutely nothing
Stopped josh's mana crypt when he had mana issues, thats quite a big impact
Lavinia is one of those cards you don't actually see make an impact but it's silently stopping big plays from happening
Keisuke Takazato Lavinia can be one of those cards if you build it with cards like Omen Machine, Knowledge Pool, and other cards that force your opponents to play cards for free.
Jimmy didn’t build a Lavinia deck, he build an Azorius deck that just happened to have Lavinia as it’s commander. If you’re not building for your commander then what’s the point of playing the format?
@@AsterDXZ makes sense, and I can agree with that. Commander is more boring imo when decks are their generic archetype and don't really care about the general

Josh probably didn't see it. That's when group politics suppose to be used. Mutual benefit.

This game would have been a lot more fun if DJ simply said: Don't attack me for 2 turns and I will take care of the Bridge before Jimmy gets to untap with it.
I think on one of the videos they said he offered something similar and they declined, thinking he was forced to answer the Planar Bridge no matter what anyone else did. Bad calculation on their part.
Standard game knights. Either rngesus blesses the table and mana screws jimmy, or he land taxes turn 1 being the last player, portals in an emrakul with an extra 1 health to live, and promptly sweeps the game with 5 consecutive turns with pretty much the sole source that damaged him that game being his own mana crypt. I dont get the hate on this episode. I thought it was enjoyable misplays and all. I mean if no one ever made a misplay then it would be boring.
Sure the commanders were not really front and center but then not all commanders are like that. Plenty of commanders are background helpers if you get what I mean.
Good game in my opinion and happy to see my Boi Emrakul swing in at the end
The hate is mainly DJ. He flat out lied and broke deals. Like at 16:26. He says he'll do this, but does that instead. bUT I WaNnA DrAW A cARD. You could also really see Josh getting fed up with it.
NZ loves you too Jimmy! Glad you enjoyed your time down here.
Game knights ! ONLY ONE MAY STAND ! Love watching these so much fun
It's time to upgrade your Sriracha bottle. It's brown.
"pinapple belongs on pizza"
he's definitely the devil
I always play Land tax and Burgeoning when i play white and green :D
Congrats Jimmy! Looks like the long break made you a lot stronger!
Omg. I want more episodes with DJ, from jumbo commander, that guy is awesome!!!
Why, so he can hand the game to another player with his poor threat assessment?
and what's the problem? just because that happen does not mean i don't enjoy watching the dude playing...
As someone who only recently started playing mtg, and only casual at that (with friends) I find these videos really enjoyable. I have always loved card games, but have never been a competitive person nor do I enjoy competitive games involving card games. I feel like that's part of the reason I find these a lot more enjoyable since it just feels like some friends hanging out.
I definitely loved the deck techs before hand. I like how it gives people like me some time to brew and then see how it is built by you guys and then see how it does. I enjoy the deck techs after video releases because it makes them a surprise.
1:09 for intro and knowing the players
4:00 for gameplay
19:50 for midroll ad
Qué tal OOM?
Damn, I wish we could've seen more from the Judith deck. Mana screws suck. Regardless, super awesome video!
GG all! Great to have Jimmy, Vinny and DJ back on GK and fantastic to see the new Ravenica legendaries getting some time in the sun. Bit of a shame that Josh got mana screwed but hey-ho.
Epic video as always! And I have to say these episodes in which you play original EDH decks are far more interesting than say episodes with limited formats or out-of-the-box decks.
DJ: "Oh yeah, I don't wanna take 12 so I'll utter end the hydra and not worry about the Planar Bridge."
Jimmy: Finds game winning Emrakul with Planar Bridge because what else would he find?
Hayden Beissel I play with these guys often and yet still I myself was super confused at that play. At the time I got it on some small level because Vinny had Rogues passage and it isn’t something he could take for a few turns, but he could’ve made a deal to take his (deserved) licks at one swing for 12 and get Vinny to point at Jimmy next turn. And surely the table would’ve concentrated on removing the hydra after that, successfully, rather than facing bomb after bomb after bomb from a Planar Bridge.
Did the Emrakul win the game? When you bridge it its just a big dumb 13/13 flyer with no abilities. Powerful but in commander nothing special. Expropriate followed by 2 extra turn spells won the game, plain and simple.
Take Courage but you don’t know the extra turn cards are coming. You don’t know that an eldrazi minus cast trigger is coming. What you know is that you’re being swung at for 12 trample, but another player can tutor every turn and place a permanent on the battlefield. It’s a bad play at the current board state, period.
Take Courage Also he might not have had lethal on 3 players without the Emrakul. He still would’ve stole 3 permanents, but let’s say it’s still Xenagos, Grave Titan and Judith - Vinny would still have the Scourge, and Jimmy has three turns to kill all three of them. And you can’t count on him still having 3 extra turns, because again, he was tapped out, so he couldn’t activate the bridge to get the emrakul, so he wouldn’t have shuffled his deck, and probably wouldn’t have drawn into one or more of those cards. Difficult to say but my money says he wouldn’t have knocked them out like that - one of them more likely.
Not plain & simple, Jimmie ended @ 18 life, taking 12 away could have had a large impact on his time clock (+random 3-pings). Also, expropriate would not have grabbed a 13/13 flampler to double & swing at everyone. It would have been a war of attrition at that point (I don't know how many bomb damage enablers he may have drawn into & hasted with Xenagod, but I don't think the deck was built like that).@@takecourage92
So this is why we don't let Jimmy have lands during commander. Also I didn't realized how sneaky jumbo commander is at times lol
Coooool!!! This kind of edition is much funnier than the lasts one you did!! Very good jon guys and thank you!!!
This was a awesome game. Welcome back Jimmy and congrats with the win on your return! Hope to see DJ back on the podcast some time with the both of you!
Teysa is soooo cool. She's probably the favorite deck that I've built
The best part is your icon is the orzhov logo, totally not biased. Yes I’m aware people can do what they want this is a joke.
Jimmy, Vinny, and DJ?! This is gunna be great!
You guys always cheer me up when I’m down
Great to see an old classic like Land Tax do tons of work 💪🏻
