Ben Shapiro calling Barbie one of the greatest intellectual properties of all time is something I wasn’t expecting.
Hes speaks in hyperbole. Its all he can do. He's a fucking idiot
He’s gay
he does it because its an old brand and his conservative loser fans know it all their lifes. if barby was a new brand it would be woke too because it says women can be pilots or some shit.
He used to think it was Boy Meets World until the incident.
@@videogamenostalgia"Oh boy, I get to meet Mr Feeny"
Love that Nick was so absorbed in his generous, thoughtful criticism of a movie about toys that he momentarily forgot he's a comedian.
thats just what happens when stav isnt there to make it funny
@@paulstagram4205he was a morale boost for nick to make actually funny jokes and stay on a roll with them
He could probably make a good movie review channel if he wanted.
@@paulstagram4205yeah Stav really kept the tone of the show comic. Adam, and Nick to a lesser extent, are to proud of their pseudo intellectualism and let it take control if Stav isn't there to say "haha that's gay" and make Nick realize he's kind of being a fart sniffer.
@@paulstagram4205 Dear Gay Diary, How can I tell if my best friend Nick Mullen is still funny without human laugh track Stavros Halkias fatly cackling every 12 seconds?
Hot wheels movie that deals with the deep socioeconomic troubles of latino street racing gangs vs the big budget world of white stadium racing
Im calling it now
I hear your joke, don't worry.
But how about this: Hot Wheels movie, but it's just a shot&for-shot recreation of the first Fast & Furious movie, with all of the cars and roads replaced with Hot Wheels toys. Complete with a hand pushing the toy car around on the toy road, making the vrooming sounds.
Do you want that but for real? You should watch the acceleracers movies. All the hot wheels drivers are in street gangs and have deep seated blood feuds
@@alissaadornato8951 I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers those movies and made that connection.
You ever see the movie "Lowriders" with Theo Rossi. It'll just be that.
Nick 100% should have seen Wonka. There's this little black girl in the movie with a necklace that has an 'N' on it and most of the movie everyone's not sure what it actually stands for. Man, Nick would have a field day with that. Bit central. Won't even need the Chex Mix for it.
I bet its nougat
Yeeeah without stav it still wouldn’t hit lol Adam would go “oh man that’s funny.” and theyd move on
@@Supermoneygang12Good riddance Stav. So unfunny.
@@EternamDoovStop it, this shit is BORING without Stav. Adam isn't funny enough to b paired with Nick. TAFS sucks
@@blackdynamite5016TAFS is Cumtown without the laugh track of Stav. There is less dynamism but they seriously could have replaced him with anyone.
''netflix face'' is exactly the term I was looking to coin, because it really does seem like every new baby-faced girl actress in a new show/movie has the same face/mannerisms. it is still acting, which is scary, but it's like the predicatable corporate-approved way of doing it, they all make 3 faces (look at something while being disgusted by it/startled by it/embarrassed by it) and they can't do anything more than that.
I miss when women in movies looked like adult women with facial definition and not toddlers slathered in makeup.
i don't like that comment@@mrscruffles801
I think it's a roundabout way of saying "a generic, bad actor"
the performance is just bad
Absolutely no idea what this comment was trying to convey. So Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor Joy, and Jenna Ortega all look and act alike? Is there a chance maybe you just got a touch of the autism?
Thats what happens when multiple pipelines choose for particular aspects. People notice and play what is essentially the meta strategy so you now have a bunch of people more trained on getting acting roles than actually acting.
Nick: Makes observant point about the nature of satire
Adam: Is the Barbie movie product placement?
I like what Nick describes as being the first 20 minutes of the movie is actually like the first hour, but yeah the latter half of the movie kinda falls off
Horses are pretty sick
Nick is very perceptive to coin the term “Netflix Face” for the modern style of acting
Yeah he really pinpointed *that* style of acting, even though I can't really articulate what *that* style really is beyond just annoying
@@stevensmith1031 it's annoyed girl face.
Resting Netflix Face is an epidemic. It hasn’t been traced to vaccines… yet.
@@0ldar yeah its acting boiled down to three easiest to 'play' emotions which are confusion, agitation and anger and nothing else. there's hardly a moment where the barbie latina teen isnt one of the three
The acting does always feel verbose and over done.
Thanks for continuing to make these, man. The editing is always on point and in tune with the best out of the podcast these days.
Ngl last time I watched an episode of TAFS it was boring ass, is it good yet?
The actual show with the interviews is great

i honestly have no fucking clue how they were able to make tafs so fucking boring. nick is constantly sedated on horse tranqs, zero effort to do any funny bits.
@@juvenoiachild7675 The greatest trick Stav ever pulled was to spend years breaking down Nick’s Irish defenses and normalizing therapy and taking Lithium. As Stav was riding the wave to success, he was slowly drilling holes in Nick’s boat so that when he jumped ship he could ride higher. But Adam interviewed Jadakiss so this war is far from over.

Shame he hasn't figured that out yet.
@@TrisketNick seems to just purposely do what people don’t want him to do now

I told him this in person when I saw him in Milwaukee I said dude just make more movie reviews lmao.
What did he say when you told him that
I love Nick explaining how it’s going to be a bit cinematic universe and Adam goes “yeah and then Mattel is going to make it all one universe”
I also love Adam's very original thoughts.
superheroes are finally running out of steam, so we're going to get even more crass adaptations with toy and video game slop. hell yeah

I feel like that there aren't many toys you can make into movies, barbies a character it's easy to make a movie about her but how you gonna make a rubiks cube movie?
@@leonconnelly5303Well you make the cubes sentient for a start. Then you establish a world where the cubes live normal lives but there is a rubix olympics where the cubes compete to solve themselves the fastest.
Then you make the protagonist of the film a tiny cube whose dream is to be the fastest in the world but everybody says that he can’t do it because he’s too small and weak. So he starts training and eventually becomes world champion defying all odds.
You can apply “the hero’s journey” to anything. It’s a tried and true method.
As a Warhammer fan, the best way to explain Barbieland is that it takes place in The Warp
Tfw the gellar field fails
he's spot on with that netflix face concept
He hit the nail on the head about "Netflix face"
Ben reminds me of when i was watching toy commercials, and a product aimed at little girls came on so we had to act disgusted by it to prove we weren't gay.
These days I own thousands of dollars of Barbie merchandise, and drive my Barbie Power Wheel Jeep all over town.
Ah trying to prove you ARE gay. Nice
As a Cumtown viewer you were confirmed for gay.
Yeah bro
Glad you could finally come out.

Yes Clangers bro! Good to see you back in action.
During the Ken war, one of the Ken's was giving a horse mouth to mouth
Hot.
I clicked off a Tom meyers breakdown video so fast when this came up
What did you have, a bong hit transplant?
Tom vid transplant
That "streaming platform face" thing he pointed out is interesting. In the past, people growing up would mirror the mannerisms and expressions of people around them. The current generation has grown up mirroring similar mannerisms and expressions because they all consume the same social media. Tiktok and Instagram algorithms all show the same stuff.
I think it’s just shitty acting.
The opening of Barbie but it’s Nick living in a world with the various characters from his bits, waving to Gay Actor Michael Douglas, Adam’s Dad etc.
Hell yes, clangers time. Also I'm gay
“Netflix Face” is crazy.
Adam asking if the barbie movie is product placement is the top 5 dumbest things he has ever said
Certified Stav-tier moment of stupidity for Adam.
Should have had more Ken on Ken action. (I'm gay)
The speech at the end made me kinda uncomfortable, I remember instinctively looking away feeling like I was seeing a stranger on the street throw a tantrum. But it made my girlfriend cry, so it does resonate with women apparently.
That's hot
Not me and I'm a woman. Hated that scene.
It's more just that I've heard it before so many times. The two same writers, Gerwig and Baumbach, have used the same type of speech in each of their movies before, "Little Women" and "Marriage Story" respectively. Nothing new was said here, even though it pretended like it was.
It’s designed for social media feminists that have never really thought too hard about what feminism means
It resonates cos it’s a woman complaining about how it sucks to be a woman. It’s the same as that gym bro sigma crap you see on social media. It’s surface level heavy handed cope.
I do not have any recollection of following this account but here I am..
Weekly Movie Recap is something TAFS sorely needs.
Please make more
Finally, a balanced review of this movie
I wish this video was just a picture of a penis
I wouldn’t call this balanced if it only says right wing takes are bad. The left wings takes were nuts too but being actually balanced is hard. That said I guess he did call the that one scene “buzzfeed.” Also im gay.

I think there's enough matrix content to do a video on it
Nick’s take on The Matrix being a “literal” movie still amuses me.
Movies can’t be about anything.
Funny how Nick wanted to just move on from the Netflix face discussion so quickly, when I think a lot of people would be interested to explore that some more. I know exactly what he's talking about, and to me it's always felt like young actors who are trying beyond their current skillset.

Babe wake up clangers posted
Adam calling the Barbie movie product placement for Barbie feels like parody of hack armchair criticism.
this channel is so fire high
Nice, loved the editing!
"Netflix face" is a great name.
As an autistic gay man, this movie lacked representation. We all know that if this was true to the source material, an 11 year old boy would have stripped Barbie naked within the first 3 minutes of the film and ripped off both her arms.
I'm just ken
Watch Michael Knowles talk about the movie. The video’s called “I LOVED The Barbie Movie” and you only have to watch the middle part titled “Barbie is great.” It’s funny that this clip shows a bunch of Daily Wire hosts, but not Michael Knowles. Movie starts with girls no longer wanting to care for babies, they start killing their babies/abortion, no more nurturing, they want to focus on being girl bosses and Barbie can be anything. When Barbie meets the creator, she says women work here?, and the creator says “women do more than work here” as in they are also mothers like the mother character in the real world, a very important job, I haven’t seen the film but I’ve seen enough clips to understand people are missing some significant statements of the movie.
A thing that a lot of people ignore about the movie is that the Kens being essentially homeless and being "just an accessory" aligns pretty well with how boys are raised (which transfers into adulthood); their emotions don't matter and are actively suppressed ("stop crying, boys don't cry") *unless they majorly act out* (break shit, turn Barbieland into a Kenocracy)
There's a reason that when homeless statistics are mentioned irl, they're always phrased as "can you believe it? 20% of homeless people are women!"
Are there any other channels as good as Clangers? Need more of these edits

That style of acting is called "bad" acting.
But it's not bad in the way Keanu Reeves is bad at acting. It's like an Asian kid playing Beethoven perfectly but there's nothing behind it. Zero soul. Impossible to believe their performance.

I agree a lot with what you guys had to say here. I watched it with my girl and there were a few times I caught myself laughing but I was a bit upset at how shallow the writing was, in that a lot of the points the movie would make couldn’t be accomplished in a tongue in check fashion and instead basically hit you over the head with the message, which I found to be a bit on the dumb side.
