Hi Trevor, in the model 3 the airflow from the blade air vent can be fully deflected to the side windows. The 46.2 update was when Tesla added this feature. This works great at keeping the windows from fogging in addition to your settings.
I've seen videos demonstrating a single stream of air going to the side windows like it was before the UI update. I got 46.2 last week but I can't seem to find the way to keep it from splitting if I go to a side. Am I missing something?
In 1998 I bought a Ford Fiesta with a heated front windscreen. This was a far better way of keeping the windscreen clear than blowing air across it. All cars should have this feature.
Thats because Ford patented the name QuickcCear which is still used today and yh all vehicles should have this for safety just like when Volvo patented the seatbelt but this was made law later on and to be fitted to all vehicles.
Cheers for the advice. Winter here in the UK, just got our MY. And the wide is complaining about constant fogging. Will try your set up and let you know. Thanks.
Thanks Trevor. We don’t live in coldest part of the world and this has been an issue for us. This should help. By the way, every time you touch your touchscreen I giggle. You know why .. 🤣🤣
Maybe this is a difference between a Floridian and Canadian but "a/c" should always be on, when humid, as the air conditioner does the most effective job at almost instantly removing moisture from the car. It may cost you some range but just blowing the fan around isn't that much more effective than rolling the windows down.
Additionally, if it's super hot outside recirculate will (theoretically) use less energy because once the cabin has cooled, the inside air doesn't have to be cooled as much as the outside air.
@@teslaownersonline5805 AC for defog is nice with humid outside air (usually more in autumn/spring, winter is usually cold and dry), or if the an ICE car hasn't warmed up (but of course with an EV this is no issue). Be noted that an AC compressor will only work up to a about +4 Celcius (39 F) or so!!, this is inherent to the evaporation/condensation proces of the refrigerant; it can't change phases /below/ that temperature. In almost all cars, the AC button will lit, but the AC compressor will *not* turn on, so there is no dehumidifying effect. I don't understand why almost no car gives of a message "AC can't be used below X degrees" when put the AC on in freezing.
@@davithdevries6774 Of course it can change phases below that temperature. But doing so, the evaporator will have ice buildup. Just like your freezer. That is why you limit it to around 3-7 degree C.
Good info those who need it. I always keep my auto button off regardless. The only thing new to me was the recirculating button being off. I’ll try that and see what happens. Great job.
I just noticed the”Keep Climate On” feature on your screen in the Model X. The Model 3 doesn’t seem to have this feature. Can you confirm if that is true? If so, I wonder why?
It worked perfectly in my Mazda 6 2010 model. Always used Auto. It works perfectly in my Volvo V90 2018 model. Always use Auto. That is why we have Auto - so it can be... automagic. Never any issue with fogging. Never any issue with temperature. Always the same settings. It just, works. Tesla is like my 1996 old Mazda 626 with only manual controls (except it was easier to manipulate those controls in the Mazda).
How to prevent the fogging on windows on a Volvo: I really have no idea since this is not a problem. Using Auto climate. Always. How can Tesla now know how to handle this properly? It is BASICS. My Mazda from 2010 did the same - just worked, in auto mode. This is why we have... auto...
Why would you take it off the auto? Audi's have no problem staying on auto and keep windows not fogged. it's a 80k+ car ffs. I want those automations to work for me.. not keep playing with the climate control like 20 years ago. My Tesla suddenly fogs up on long drives... it's a really bad bug or engineering. never had problem on other cars.
The same with my previous Mazda from 2010. And my Volvo i have now from 2018. It just works. Automatic all the time. Fumes from cars in a tunnel? The car goes into recirculation automatically too. I never touch anything. It is Automatic. But of course, Tesla climate is probably "Automatic Beta" as everything on their cars...
Tesla could benefit from reverse engineering Volvo, Audi etc when it comes to automatic cabin climate. Airflow changes perfectly without manual tinkering and only change needed from time to time is the fan speed.
Tesla should fix their auto mode. It shouldn't be blowing hot air at the passengers' faces. Those face vents should only be used for cool air. Heat should only be directed at the windows and the foot level. Hot air rises so unless you direct the heat at the foot level you'll end up with cold, uncomfortable feet even if the rest of the car is warm and toasty. Also, people tend to get sleepy when warm air is directed at their face.
Except the outer vents, they should have a slight hot air from them to clear the windows on the side and to prevent the cold air on the side from chilling you down on the side. Volvo handles this really really good. Automatic all the time. It just works.
I hope the road trip to the V3 chargers are going well! I made a new video explaining how to use the defroster and the difference between the two modes (Red & Blue) a little better for those of you interested. ua-cam.com/video/0gff-FG_k9g/v-deo.html&feature=share
A heated windscreen would really solve the problem and then no workarounds would be required. Tesla should offer this for everyone outside of California.

@@JohnFabrega Try pinching the airflow together. They will join into one. Seemed to work for me. Spread two fingers apart to split again.
@@phyzygy /slaps self for not trying that. Works great!
Thank you! Was going crazy with the constant fogging

My front defrost didn't work too well this morning on my drive to work in the blowing snow... Thanks for the amazing tips!!
Great tips, it's my first winter with my Model X living in Canada. Also I picked up my Model 3 last week using your referral code.
Cheers for the advice. Winter here in the UK, just got our MY. And the wide is complaining about constant fogging. Will try your set up and let you know. Thanks.
Great tips, I drive through tunnels everyday and its a big issue in winter and rainy days. I will test this! Cheers!
A well needed video for Model 3 owners. Thanks Trev.
Thanks Trevor. We don’t live in coldest part of the world and this has been an issue for us. This should help. By the way, every time you touch your touchscreen I giggle. You know why .. 🤣🤣
Fantastic, I go through tunnels quite frequently and I was having this annoying issue in Model 3!, now I know why, great solution! thanks!!!.
Thanks for the info.
Helpful! I have been experiencing this very issue this winter. I'll update my settings.

are the model 3 side mirrors heated too ? (sorry for bad English)
Will try this. Thanks!
I have this issue with hot exterior and humidity with setting AC in the cabin it fogs up all the time
So always use heat to defrost windows? Can I just manually set to blow warm on windshield instead of going for the defrost button?
model 3 cameras on B pillard is foggy/droplets. howto defog it ?

First! Good to know. One simple thing or question does, the screen on the 3 and S have a clock? ⏰
If you're not stretching range on a long trip, just turn a/c on, you'll never get condensation and the car will feel more pleasant.
Great tip. I notice it gets foggy when more people are in the car.
Thank you, Trevor! I will try this out. I have this issue all the time. :( I hope this helps me! I will ping you via twitter about the result.
Trevor it’s called the Model 3 owners club, not the Model X owners club. Stay focused, stay on topic. Thanks
Great tips
At the beginning he says “de-frog”
I definitely want to learn how to De-Frog my car.
Very helpful! Thanks!
The fogging in the model S is unreal. They are going to get someone killed. Something is completely wrong.
Excellent tips
Thanks 👍🏾
Thx for sharing.
Tesla should add air humidity sensor, and based on that ecu should decide about vents airflow,
Have that in my... Volvo. There is never any problem with fogging. Never. It just works. Automatic = Automatic, for real. Not "Automatic Beta"....
How we control back sit fan any one knows?
Has anyone tried using Rain x antifog to reduce this?
WHY IS IT DIFFERENT NOW?
Great tip!
Thanks
Seems like an easy bug to fix in SW.
Isnt there a downside (of having air sent onto the windshield) that it dry out your eyes too much?
