I've won several photo awards, including first place in my state three years in a row in the Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot contest. Not sure if they still have these contests any more. I must say, these tips are EXCELLENT (for any camera)!!! I'm 73 - have had everything from Hasselblads to Nikons and just bought a used Canon EOS 60D. It will be here tomorrow!
That’s awesome congrats. It always feels great to have your work recognized, thank you for the kind words and taking the time to watch! Hope you love the camera
Great video! I personally own a Canon 60D for the past 8 years and its still a great camera for me. would recommend it for a beginner 100%. Hope you reach 1 million or more subscribers in the future!
loved this video so much!! im currently a beginner and am looking to mainly shoot family portraits, scenery etc.. do you think its worth to get this camera?? and what lens would you recommened?? thanks so much:D
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes I do think it would be worth getting, I think it would work great for that. I'd suggest the kit 18-55mm lens and then a 50mm 1.8. Those will definitely get you started and produce great results!
Good to see another great video on the 60d do you think you will be making a video on how to shoot Video and minimize camera shakiness when filming without special gear 👍
Yeah I have had that happen before I believe it has to do with the connection between the camera body and lens so I’d suggest cleaning off both contact points and see if that helps!
Im so thankful for this video. I wonder if you could make a video for your video settings and picture settings? I owned a 60d for 2 yrs already and I’m still having a hard time using it. Would really appreciate if you could share your video settings in this vlog. Also I own 50mm and the lense kit however I’m still having a hard time focusing it. Would be really grateful if you have some tips and workaround fo that. Thank you 😊😭
Hey thanks so much Carolyn I really appreciate it! I will definitely make a video about the settings I use for both, I have two videos I’m currently working on right now but after that I’d love to make one explaining the settings I shoot with.
I thought this was about the Canon 60 but these are General photography tips that can be applied to any camera. The choice to add Canon 60D in the title is weird?! Why not the title, how you can improve your photography with any camera?
Fair point but most of my viewers use the 60D and want videos oriented towards the 60D. While they mostly apply to every camera they are still great tips for the 60D
Great video buddy. Due to an injury, I really haven't picked up my 60D since I bought it years ago. So now I'd like to get back into shooting pics and some indie video. So with that said, camera, lens and mic did you use for this video?
Hey thanks a lot Jeff I appreciate it! I think it’s a great idea to get back to the camera, for this video it was entirely shot on the 60D, I mainly used the 18-55mm kit lens with an ND filter as well as a 50mm 1.8. For the mic I used the Takstar SGC-598, I put links to the lenses, mic, and Nd filter I use, hope it helps! Mic: amzn.to/326NNh2 ND Filter: amzn.to/2JJkpae 50mm 1.8: amzn.to/32hdeNb I highly recommend the 50mm 1.8 if you don’t already have one!
Great lesson bro, i'd like to know something... when is the right time to use the flash and which one is better between the in-built speedlite and the external speedlite?
Thanks I’m glad you liked the video! I think using flash really depends on what you’re doing but for portrait photography it’s pretty good indoors and when outside and you need a bit more full light. I’d usually recommend a external flash, it has an adjustable range and can be brighter, here is a really helpful article about when to use flash: expertphotography.com/when-you-should-shouldnt-use-a-flash/
Hey thanks for watching, as far as I know you can't do that wirelessly with the 60D but I may be mistaken. What I do to get photos or videos on my phone is use a memory card adaptor that plugs right into my phone and it was fairly cheap, I'll link what I use. iPhone Card Reader: amzn.to/2RZvJlu Android Card Reader: amzn.to/2Jxv6vx
Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 seems like a great option for concert photography, I have only a bit of experience with it but you get the great range like the kit 18-55 but you have better low light capability. Also a 24mm 2.8 could be something you look into because it’s on the cheaper end and could work pretty well!
Any sort of light can work depending on your budget but I personally use a ring light that has adjustable brightness, and I just have it on an adjustable stand so it’s easy to place differently. The specific ring light I got was the Neewer brand one on amazon. Thanks I appreciate you taking the time to watch it!
Also I’d suggest a smaller light to place behind your subject for a backlight to separate your subject from the background and maybe a light bounce if you were going to try and have a three point lighting set up
Hey Gary thanks for watching, I think it’s pretty decent but I almost always shoot manual. I think it’s up to preference but I didn’t mind it the few times I used it!
Hey there thanks for watching! I recommend the 50mm 1.8 to anyone, and the 18-55 it comes with is really solid too. If you’re looking for a higher end lens the 24-70mm is fantastic. For most of my audio I use the Takstar SGC-598
@@thejacobbunn fantastic! I've got an 18-55mm and looking to expand for film and photography. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into those products.
Thanks for taking the time to watch, I’d suggest using the light meter to make sure your exposure is right, and I personally enjoy night dark blacks for black and white!
@@thejacobbunn thx for replying i appreciate that 👍 i just want to Catch some Pics of my dog and my girlfriend. Just portraits and stuff . But i want to make it good as possible. Im a total rookie in photography
Oh that’s always really fun, I practiced a lot taking pictures of my girlfriend and recently just took some portraits of my dogs! I definitely suggest lots of treats to get them to look haha
For the 50mm 1.8 I suggest this Nd filter: amzn.to/2xDKaSZ It’s a variable so you can adjust it, it will say 49mm but that’s the correct size for it! I definitely recommend it highly!
Hey that's okay just get started with your phone or whatever you got! Trust me I know it's not what you want but you can still make really great videos/pictures with anything. Plus you can slowly start saving up
@@thejacobbunn I know, but instead I will have a t5i that is not like the 60d since the battery lasts longer and has buttons that make it easier to use
Hey man I definitely think it is! I use the 60D to film: weddings, promotional videos for businesses, and my UA-cam videos. I think the camera is more than capable of getting you good results for product videos or photos
No problem, my main camera body suggestion is the 60D for just about everything but I think there are a few pieces of gear that are good to get as well. I’d say a: 50mm 1.8 lens, tripod, good memory card, and a good quality mic are great things to get early on
Hi. Do you recommend canon 60D(start in 2010)for beginners or something new same price, exemple eos 2000d is 2019 or 2020 or other canon camera around this price. Thank you!
Hey I personally always recommend the 60d because it’s still just a really solid camera that is affordable! If you were looking for another similar range canon camera I’d suggest the t6i is nice as well!
Definitely a great camera, I know quite a few people that love shooting on the 90d. For the price it seems a little high to me for only having the 18-55mm, but it’s not a terrible price. You may want to look at the camera body price and consider buying lenses separately. Depending on what you’re shooting the 50mm 1.8 is really affordable and takes great photos
On the 60D you can disable the flash from the menu. Left most tab, scroll to the bottom item "Flash Control", then its the first item on the list. Disabling it allows you to use the flash's AF assist beam without firing the flash itself.
Ashtigz Canlas huh I’m not exactly sure then, maybe try setting your settings to default and see if it still uses flash in portrait mode. Either then that I’d suggest potentially shooting manual
Depends on your situation and how much money you have but if you can afford it the 70D is a great option too, but if you have a budget the 60D is more than capable
Love that you're featuring 60D in 2019, thanks!
