Thanks! I enjoy the adventure. I normally carry a hand winch, so that if I did get stuck I can recover myself. It's really hard work, but will get me out of trouble.
What tryres are you running... make, type, size, psi? What's your ground clearance- do you have a suspension lift and what's the gear you're using (shocks n springs)?
I've got 215 65 16 Bridgestone Dueller ATs, and had them down to about 16psi. It's lifted with 40mm King Springs, on normal KYB shocks. Can't remember what the ground clearance is exactly, but every thing is tucked up underneath so it's actually not too bad.
Nice one, Sam. Thanks for posting... I really enjoyed it, as we do a bit of backroad touring in a BP Outback ourselves. Am I right in thinking yours has had a lift? Cheers...
Tried to do this today in my stock 2021 bt50. Found big bog hole/step down bit maybe half way through (from the kapoors Road end). It was very muddy and I wouldn't be able to come back up it if I got stuck further up the track so made the call to turn around. I can't imagine a subaru would get up or down there???? But don't see it in your video
It changes alot between seasons, so that musnt have been like that when I was there. But no tricks, the Subi drove the whole thing. It's not exactly standard though.
@@SwampChook Thanks mate. can you tell me more about the lift work you done like the brand and if it needs to be certified? At the moment I only found subi lift oz 2 inch spacers which costs like 700 nzd and certification will cost more
I don't think it's anything at all to do with the subaru it's tottaly down to your throttle control ie rpms are constant not fluctuating up and down that's the secret to keeping moving
Love it, been there often as our 4x4 club helps out with the track maintenance and bush cut back and to see the Subbie there bloody funny👍👍
Its a great spot.
Hopefully DOC will do something to re-open it after the latest slips
Looks great, is on my bucket list. Good stuff!!~
Thanks Sam I was recommended the watch and enjoyed it, looking to getting out there myself for a tour in the FJ .
excellent video Sam, very nice track. can't wait to have a go myself
Nice video Sam, we are looking forward to heading out that way one day too!
Once again Sam great trip great memories just awesome thanks mate...
Heading here next weekend (first weekend of December) !!
My first time ... super excited
Done it.. was great.. made a video 🤣
Oh cool, watching it now!
Nice work! That track looks beautiful. Will have to do a mission north one day.

Good work you’re right it does look a lot better than before
Hi Sam, thanks for the video. Can you list all the mods you now have on the outback to make it perform better offroad please?
Mostly just tyres and a 1" lift. However this one has a VTD centre diff and a rear LSD, which are a huge help, but not very common.
What tyres are you running, and would they fit without the lift you reckon?

This looks so cool! Where abouts did you score the bash guard from? Or does that come with the Subi?
Cheers! And I made that bash guard myself. Working on a new one at the moment actually
Great effort Sam, so lots of foot work with cameras, you’ll be doing Thompson’s track in summer
Yeah a lot of running around. Is good for me though 😁. And hmmm maybe

Isn't the track closed at the moment?
Yes is it now. I was there in April
Hi mate, do you have any lift on your subi?
I have subaru forester 2005 with all terrain tyres 225 60 r17 with no lift. do you think it will be able to handle this?
Yeah it's got a 30mm lift. Yeah you should be fine, probably best to go when it's dry though.

Congrats, nice place.
How long did it take you to do the track ?
It takes me ages filming it and mucking around with cameras, so I don't really know unfortunately
Love to know what modifications you have done, is it the 3 litre and manual geardox?
I'm planning on doing a video about it soon hopefully. It's a 2.5l Auto.
Hi Sam, what time of the year was this?
Hi Phil. This was early April last year.
Hell yeah🤘

You're definitely on to something. Keep it smooth, and the old philosophy, as little power as possible, but as much as nessecary.
