During the takeoff, there is a special focus on the sidestick of the captain as pilot flying. The first officer in the right seat is the pilot monitoring. After a few minutes, the first officer continues as pilot flying. Reason for that is that at Madeira Airport only special trained captains are allowed to perform a landing and a takeoff.
