Really nice views overflying Lanzarote ! Those Canaries Islands are fantastic ! Funny to see there is a "positive climb" already when speeding up with the upslope runway 😅
I fully agree with your statement. The vertical speed indication during the takeoff roll is also very interesting to me. But it makes sense due to the slope of the runway.

Excellent Video but I have one question why did the vertical speed indicator at 17:50 say you were climbing was that because the runway was rising or something else?
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! This is an interesting observation. I assume that you are right about the vertical speed indicator. The runway has an upslope, which means the altitude rises a little during the takeoff roll. Subsequently, the VSI reflects this.
Ok. Here is the next one! And there will be more. For sure there will be also more approach videos. You will see both. Please stay tuned! Have a nice day!

Awesome to see what's going on in the Cockpit. More realistic than flying in MSFS 2020 haha. Totally learnt a lot here. Might consider flying one of my career choice now.
Also. Is it possible to capture the ECAM display. So we can see the N1 increase and FF increase as engine starts? Or it is not possible due to regulations?
This are good suggestions. I already thought about including the ECAM somehow. But we are very limited in regard to possible safe camera locations in the cockpit. It is much easier said than done. I will keep it in mind and will see what we can do. The chime was due to packs still off as we did a packs off takeoff. Packs were switched on after the chime.

Thanks for watching and the good feedback! The groundcrew disconnects anyhow. The wording we use to instruct the groundcrew to disconnect is part of the standard SOP. We have to say this sentence and they know from the manuals and training when they hear this phrase that they may leave. Have a nice day!
Thanks for the great feedback! The pilot flying decides when to switch on the autopilot. Usually, we fly the first minutes manually. The same is true for the approach. Have a nice day!
Again I love your content. I’m a train driver by profession, I love to see the CRM and safety critical coms. Aviation has been my life long passion, it’s come a long way from just having a book collection and a scanner 😀 as a kid. I ‘fly’ the Fenix A320 on msfs as much as possible, using fs2crew for that extra layer of real world SOPs and interaction with a PM. Your channel absolutely complements my hobby and interest, without a doubt. So great to be on the flight deck with you, especially on the Airbus. Most other great UA-cam pilots who’ve been posting videos a while all seem to be Boing crews. This is the channel I’ve been looking for! Would be great to join you on a walk around some time? Thanks captain.
Thanks for watching and your nice words! Great to hear that you like my videos. Due to security restrictions at the airports, you cannot join me in person during a walk around. But I may produce a video which includes an outside check / walk around. Have a nice day!

Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, a change to the new briefing style occurred. The briefing part you see in the video is incomplete as we prepared and discussed lots of things already before the recording had started. For example, we briefed the taxi routing and the taxi hotspots and discussed the optimum takeoff performance as well as the performance of a possible overweight landing for an immediate return. ....
Hello Cpt.🤗 Another great video from you two. ✈ It can be seen that you love your work. 👍 It would be great, since there are a lot of simmers, of course if it's not too much effort, Ldg and Dep. to make a video of the airport to be approached. Many simmers may want to follow suit. Best regards from Styria 🤗 Werner
Werner, thanks for watching and the friendly words. Most of my early videos were only approach videos. But due to the feedback of the viewers, I started to record and to publish also more departure videos. Right now, this are two separate videos, published not on the same day. Main reason to keep them separate is that I do not want to make the video too long and also some viewers like landing videos more than departure videos. But I keep your suggestion in mind. Maybe, I try to produce one video in accordance to your suggestion and see how it will be. On Saturday, you will see another departure video from an airport where the arrival video was published not that long ago. Have a nice day!

Superb video. I noticed you mentioned 300 kg fuel / 8 minutes extra. Is that the calculated remaining fuel in the worst case scenario? And that parallel taxiway used to be a runway, markings still partly visible.
Thanks for the good feedback! Our fuel calculation takes into account the fuel for taxiing to the runway, for flying the departure, the route to the destination plus a standard (usually long) arrival and approach. In addition, it includes fuel to an alternate airport plus 30 minutes final reserve fuel and a certain percentage of general reserve fuel. The extra fuel comes on top of all that. Our preplanning for this flight calculated us with a fuel amount which would be good for 1 hour and 8 minutes flight time for the landing at the destination. We saved some fuel during the flight due to shortcuts and a shorter arrival and approach. We landed with fuel for more than 1 hour and 20 minutes flight time. If we would have flown after that to the alternate airport, we would have landed there still with fuel for one hour flight time.
These are great videos, giving a superb insight into the working flight deck. Can I ask, what is your company’s preference / rules when it comes to pilot headsets? Do you use your own / company supply ?
Thank you for the friendly feedback! The headsets belong to each airplane and are provided by the company. We do not use our own headsets. This setup differs depending on the airline. Some time ago, I flew Airbus A320 for another airline. We had to bring our own headsets. The company provided only a non ANR backup headset on board.
Nice follow-on from last week's arrival into Fuerteventura. You have got the camera angles very good now! A question for my curiosity - I noticed that when you were lined up and ready to go, even through he was Pilot Flying your FO responded to the ATC message that cleared you for take-off. Do you take over the radio once you are in the air?
Hello Geoff H. You can hear after he have respond to the atc that the captain have said “you have control” and after he say that then they have switched the roles and the FO have control and the captain make the radio I’m not sure if this 100% right but this is from my current knowledge
Thanks for watching and your question. Here the First Officer is always doing the ATC communication on the ground and the Captain is taxiing the airplane. Once in the air, it changes. The First Officer is flying and I am talking to ATC.
Great video. Just wondered when you decide how long to fly the bird with FD and no AP. And when to engage AP? Is it just that you enjoy flying the aircraft or are there safety reasons. Thanks 👍👍
This is a question in regard to an approach. During departure, we do not use the bird at all. And during approach, we usually do not use the bird with FDs on during manual flight. This would show the flightpath director, which we usually follow only with autopilot on. If the FDs are off, we use the bird for raw data flying and visual approaches. The pilot flying decides about the guidance for his or her approach.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos I'm on about departure only. The FD was on but AP off until a certain point when it was engaged. So the FO was flying following FD ?
I am sorry about that. No full flight. It was dark in Düsseldorf. We did not record the approach and landing from that flight. But there will be more Düsseldorf flights coming. It may just take some time. Please stay tuned. Have a nice day!
Hey Captain, great video again. May I share the "link of your channel" on my channel's community? I also have a aviation related channel and I want my viewers to learn more from a real professional like you. Your channel is very descriptive and it helps me alot to learn and grow.

I even encourage everybody to place links to my channel or videos on other websites and social media platforms. What a joy to be in control of such a glorious machine (A320 NEO) and on the way to Düsseldorf! Are you ever in Frankfurt Capt Stefan? I think our friends at Lufthansa should let you have a ride in an A380. How do we petition the company? :)
Thanks for watching and the friendly words! I would love to produce a nice A380 cockpit video. I already thought about visiting and filming some other crews who fly different airplanes to beautiful airports. Most of the time, I fly to and from Frankfurt as a passenger and not as a pilot. Have a good day!
Wieder tolles Video. Frage: Warum macht man trotz der stärkeren neo Triebwerke die packs off, würde die Leistung nicht auch mit packs on locker reichen oder gibt es noch andere Gründe ?
Die Leistung hätte hier locker gereicht.. Kein Problem. Wir starten nur selten mit voller Leistung. Packs off benötigt etwas weniger Leistung beim Start. Das reduziert die Abnutzung der Triebwerke, verbraucht etwas weniger Sprit und verursacht weniger Emissionen.
The pushback is a little strange for me, they basically push you past the taxiway onto an apron, and then you have to turn back onto the taxiway? Why wouldn't they just do a push back and have you turned south on the taxiway?
They usually do something like that to keep the taxiway clear for other traffic. So the other traffic can pass by or even turn into the parking position we just left during the timeframe when our pushback truck is disconnecting and we do our checks.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos yeah, I guess it works, just used to all the U.S. airports where you push straight to the taxiway and they turn you towards the runway
Per Airbus SOP, the weather radar should be turned on on the way to the runway. This is especially required if the radar and the predictive windshear system are combined in one switch. If they are separate, during nice weather and daylight, the weather radar may be off during takeoff as long as the predictive windshear system is switched to AUTO.
Apologies if this is a really dumb question. Do you have to make your announcements by law in English even if you are not landing in an English speaking country?
My greeting announcement is just a courtesy announcement with no regulatory background. Eurowings is a German airline. So lots of the passengers speak German. That's the reason for the German announcement. And for everyone else, I say hello in English. If I spoke Spanish, I would have also done a Spanish greeting when flying to and from Spain.
Good observation. Here, the Captain is always taxiing the airplane. Even if he or she is the pilot not flying. This includes the movement of the thrust levers. For the takeoff, the First Officer takes over the thrust levers once the airplane is in the air. These procedures differ from airline to airline. They have usually in common that the Captain has his or her hand at the thrust levers during the takeoff run. Reason for that is that the Captain is always the person who is doing a possible takeoff abort. Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos the case of the MD88 in Michigan a couple years ago was a case where the PF, not the captain, *had* to be the one to abort, because the problem was with the flight controls that only the PF would notice. based on that and other things, i would prefer to have PF be the one on the throttle (perhaps the captain can double up, but the PF *not* on the throttle is a big problem imo in contingencies.) regardless, many thanks for the reply

Thanks for watching and your great feedback! This is an interesting observation. I assume that you are right about the vertical speed indicator. The runway has an upslope, which means the altitude rises a little during the takeoff roll. Subsequently, the VSI reflects this.
Woohoo! I was wondering when you were going to upload next haha! We need more departure videos!!!

At 19:41 why is there a chime? I see hands at overhead panel? Seat belt signs?
This are good suggestions. I already thought about including the ECAM somehow. But we are very limited in regard to possible safe camera locations in the cockpit. It is much easier said than done. I will keep it in mind and will see what we can do. The chime was due to packs still off as we did a packs off takeoff. Packs were switched on after the chime.
Thanks for watching and and your good feedback! Great to hear that you think about becoming a professional pilot. Have a nice day!

Good morning, once again a fantastic video, thx a lot for yourt effort and have a nice weekend.
Thanks for the friendly words! Have a great day!
Another great one. Weird you had to remind the ground crew they could disconnect after the push :)
Thanks for watching and the good feedback! The groundcrew disconnects anyhow. The wording we use to instruct the groundcrew to disconnect is part of the standard SOP. We have to say this sentence and they know from the manuals and training when they hear this phrase that they may leave. Have a nice day!
Yesss! Perfect! Thank you for all these amazing videos. ❤
Thank you for watching and the great feedback!
Amazing! Why fly the starting turn of the Sid manually and not with the auto pilot?
Thanks for the great feedback! The pilot flying decides when to switch on the autopilot. Usually, we fly the first minutes manually. The same is true for the approach. Have a nice day!
Nice takeoff on A320 NEO, if you come to LOWG I can record your landing behind the runway
That's a good suggestion. Thanks!

BTW nice video Captain.👍🏽
Yes! Thanks for watching and have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos sorry for the confusion, yes a walk around video is what I was referring to 😀, if possible that would be great. Have a great day.

Hallo, immer wieder super Interessant !

Nice video captain. Hasn’t Ewg moved to new briefing style? Cheers
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, a change to the new briefing style occurred. The briefing part you see in the video is incomplete as we prepared and discussed lots of things already before the recording had started. For example, we briefed the taxi routing and the taxi hotspots and discussed the optimum takeoff performance as well as the performance of a possible overweight landing for an immediate return. ....
Hello Cpt.🤗
Another great video from you two. ✈
It can be seen that you love your work. 👍
It would be great, since there are a lot of simmers, of course if it's not too much effort, Ldg and Dep. to make a video of the airport to be approached.
Many simmers may want to follow suit.
Best regards from Styria 🤗
Werner

@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thank you for this information!
Amazing departure
Thanks for watching!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos one question when do you guys turn on approach button
You can hear after he have respond to the atc that the captain have said “you have control” and after he say that then they have switched the roles and the FO have control and the captain make the radio
I’m not sure if this 100% right but this is from my current knowledge
Thanks for watching and your question. Here the First Officer is always doing the ATC communication on the ground and the Captain is taxiing the airplane. Once in the air, it changes. The First Officer is flying and I am talking to ATC.
Ich liebe eure Videos. Vielen Dank dafür!

Great video as usual! What is the reason that you depart without PACKS?
Thanks for watching and your question. Packs off takeoff reduces engine wear. Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thank you for the answer :)
Fantastic !! thanks a lot for that.
Thanks for watching and the good feedback! Have a nice day!
@@birdman4274 This is correct.

Wieder GCFV 😍
Ja. Demnächst gibt es wieder neue Destinationen. Einen schönen Tag noch!
Wieder tolles Video. Frage: Warum macht man trotz der stärkeren neo Triebwerke die packs off, würde die Leistung nicht auch mit packs on locker reichen oder gibt es noch andere Gründe ?
Die Leistung hätte hier locker gereicht.. Kein Problem. Wir starten nur selten mit voller Leistung. Packs off benötigt etwas weniger Leistung beim Start. Das reduziert die Abnutzung der Triebwerke, verbraucht etwas weniger Sprit und verursacht weniger Emissionen.
I fly there soon!
Have a safe trip!
You guys turned on the radar on ground?
Per Airbus SOP, the weather radar should be turned on on the way to the runway. This is especially required if the radar and the predictive windshear system are combined in one switch. If they are separate, during nice weather and daylight, the weather radar may be off during takeoff as long as the predictive windshear system is switched to AUTO.
On Saturdays I usually do spotting at that airport
Great, see you hopefully soon at the airport. Greetings to Fuerteventura!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Do you make any flights on Friday 3 in the afternoon here in fuerteventura?
Apologies if this is a really dumb question. Do you have to make your announcements by law in English even if you are not landing in an English speaking country?
My greeting announcement is just a courtesy announcement with no regulatory background. Eurowings is a German airline. So lots of the passengers speak German. That's the reason for the German announcement. And for everyone else, I say hello in English. If I spoke Spanish, I would have also done a Spanish greeting when flying to and from Spain.
Does the NEO take longer to start its engines than the CEO?
Very good question. It takes much longer to start the NEO engines.
I don't know who papa Romeo is but he's getting a lot of mentions
Eurowings FOUR PAPA ROMEO is our ATC radio callsign in the video.
I thought they were going to push you all the way to Dusseldorf with the pushback
Right, the long pushback looked a little bit like that.
seems strange to me for pilot not flying to be handling throttles, no? (setting takeoff thrust)
Pleased its not just me (in my flight simulator) who forgets to turn the packs back on!
Thanks for sharing your experience
