Four red mages is ridiculously fun. It's just four fighters with slightly lower attack and really low HP but they can all cast haste on themselves and become absolute buzzsaws. The only snag is depending on which version you're playing, Chaos is a nightmare because they can't outheal their constant AOE spam - Chaos seems to have more HP in each release.
Yea, I was playing the pixel remaster and was coasting all the way through, I always fought never ran... and being a veteran of FF since it's very first release I already know how to handle... but when I got to Chaos it was such a BS slog. I was like okay... can grind up some more just to whip the boss but I said forget it. I locked everyone HP at max and full bore nailed chaos. Yes... I cheated... on the last boss. But to run up and go I don't know maybe 100 turns? I was like, is this fight going to end? I just got tired of the heals, item sp restores, resurrection loop. And OMG is the constant hasting Chaos did on himself get stupid even with all buffs on he would one hit for 999 damage. I don't mind difficult... but that is just cheese for the stupidity. And trying to slow/stop him to cancel his buffs just missed so often I got tired of it. Nuke hit for a paltry 400 damage. I have a fond memory of the game... but I really don't think I will play it ever again now.

A fun fact about Red Mages in the Dawn of Souls release is that their magic level can increase to 6 despite them not being able to learn any level 6 spells. I learned this when doing a single character playthrough of said version. It was the first time I reached the level cap in any Final Fantasy game, and I reached max HP/MP as well.
Red Mages performed about as well as I thought, although Chaos was more of a problem than I expected. No idea that Lesser Tigers dropped x-potions, that's an interesting mob choice.
Miralith is based off of a Dungeons and Dragons monster which has a nearly identical appearance (and name). That is why she uses a bunch of swords. Same goes for a lot of other monsters.
This might be a fun one. Only Blue Mages in FFV. With all the elemental absorption that enemies have, it's a fun puzzle to sort things out. Love the vid though! Looking forward to more!
Red Mages are my favorite class in the series. Those spell lists look pretty threadbare at endgame. When I run multiple Red Mages I tend to have the issue of most of them having overly-similar spellbooks because I tend to think of the same spells as good or not worthwhile on each level, always feeling on a Black or White Mage that I have to add something as filler just to fill out the book even if I'll never use it while on the Red Mage I wind up with about 2 must-haves per level, then 2 good spells I want.
Once again, as with the last challenge run i need to point out. 2 healing helms 1 healing rod 1 giants glove Cast haste on your main attacker With the attack buffed over two rounds on one person, going Giants glove, temper x3, then going haste, temper x3, sets you up for attack, healing rod, and both healing helms. You out pace Chaos.
@@azuremistkingdom Funny thing, in Dawn of Souls the spellcast items seem to be less effective when used by Red Mages than when used by Monks. I wonder if the Intelligence growth is the same in the Pixel Remaster? In the original they were of course a fixed range.

When you have a source of black magic and melee attacker Temper and Haste are you best bet against bosses. Haste double the number of attacks the you character can deal and temper increases attack power by 14 and stacks. The giants gloves when used as an item casts Saber on the User which increases attack by 16 and accuracy by 10 potentially giving you another attack.
