What I love about this chase was that you can see how powerful he is without the Amazons looking weak. They were able to shoot at him with accuracy, delay him with lassos, dodge his swings, and match his speed. It was just too much for them because he was out of their league and had support from his army.

This has so much rewatchability. Like every action scene has a great build up and thrill. This scene especially, our pup-eyed Steppy is just a badass. One of the best CGI villains.
I know there are a lot of amazing feats in this movie but the part at 2:30 was really impressive. The way she throws her bow, jumps off her horse, lassos the box, pulls it away from Steppenwolf, ties the rope to an arrow and fires the box out of Steppenwolf's reach. It's quite amazing.
Also the amount of momentum she got behind that arrow considering the position she was firing from... it seems like all the Amazons have some level of superhuman strength. They're not just peak athletes. You really get a sense of what an effective fighting force they are, but Steppenwolf is simply way too powerful.

“Ohhh, noble queen, why do you fight? You can’t save her. You can’t save any of them. The great darkness begins.” I love that. He’s direct, honest, sadistic, and completely interested in hammering the idea that there is no saving anyone in this fight. And just from the simple fact that Steppenwolf just decimated dozens of Amazons, who actually had him on the ropes for a split second, I would say he was right. And just the way he says those words is compelling. He speaks from experience when you think about the dialogue he had with DeSaad about the insurrection he tried to ensue against Darkseid before he took the throne, and was punished for it. He faced off against the very darkness he speaks of, and he understood the futility in fighting against it. But also because he’s conquered 100,000 worlds that more than likely had an untold number of defenders who tried to stop him and failed, he’s grown more or less tired of these failed attempts at trying to stop the inevitable. It’s really deep when you think about it.

He didn't change a thing. This was supposed to be the original but WB didn't like it for being 4 hours long and for a few other reasons hence Whedon being called to shorten it up and do a few reshoots for the shorter version.

I don't understand why people hates CGI. The movie monsters or comic characters can't look be real if they have no CGI. This CGI is far more than what we can expect from the cut. Making good CGI for $70m for 4hours movie is epic effort of Zack. I can't find any director who spent $70m (wb bubget for ZSJL is $20) for his beloved daughter.
What ppl really hate is BAD CGI....aka LAZY CGI....CHEAP CGI, that studios love to use enlieu of quality special effects that actually sell the onscreen visuals. Great CGI, just like great practical effects...never age. Look at the first Jurassic Park.
The one thing I love the most about this four hour movie is that every second matters. The Parademons emerging from the water gives this classic Apokoliptian sense of dread that suggests the sacrifices of the Amazons below were for nothing. The ones encircling and fighting Steppenwolf on their own not only shows them fearlessly fighting while also at least giving the others time to run with the Motherbox, but demonstrates further what Steppenwolf is and what sort of deadly unstoppable force he is.
The Amazon’s showing where Diana not only got her warrior spirit and bravery but love and compassion for your fellow allies. The amazons aren’t just treated as canon fodder I felt for every death every sacrifice. You know Hippolyata will carry there sacrifice forever
That Archer scene where she’s ties the rope to the arrow… easily one of the most badass archer scenes in movie history . She dies less then a second after shooting that arrow
They need to bring back Zack his way of thinking is more new and modern while James Gunn makes more old convention. He will always be living in the shadow of greatness which is Zack Snyder
The best part is that she knew she was going to die, you can see the terror in her eyes. But, she pushes that all down so that the motherbox can go as far as it can away from Steppenwolf. A true Amazon.

The temple falling off the cliff and into the water is more heartbreaking than the original and really show the high stakes of the situation.

I was never really excited about the Snyder Cut because I thought, "How much could he possibly change, it's still going to be the same movie"... Boy, was I wrong!
He didn't change a thing. This was supposed to be the original but WB didn't like it for being 4 hours long and for a few other reasons hence Whedon being called to shorten it up and do a few reshoots for the shorter version.

I don't understand why people hates CGI. The movie monsters or comic characters can't look be real if they have no CGI. This CGI is far more than what we can expect from the cut. Making good CGI for $70m for 4hours movie is epic effort of Zack. I can't find any director who spent $70m (wb bubget for ZSJL is $20) for his beloved daughter.

The one thing I love the most about this four hour movie is that every second matters. The Parademons emerging from the water gives this classic Apokoliptian sense of dread that suggests the sacrifices of the Amazons below were for nothing. The ones encircling and fighting Steppenwolf on their own not only shows them fearlessly fighting while also at least giving the others time to run with the Motherbox, but demonstrates further what Steppenwolf is and what sort of deadly unstoppable force he is.
