In zack snyder’s Superman character arc, you can see how as the series progresses that the way he uses his eye beam changes over time. Initially it was scary and painful at times, but when he does it here his expression is at peace suggesting that we finally have the absolute Superman in snyderverse. It’s really those little details that Snyder has planned for many of the characters and it’s a huge shame that we will not get to see the full arc of all the characters synder started with at DC. Yeah, it was always confusing for me how Superman could literally one shot Steppenwolf in the Whedon version, ending the entire conflict by himself instantly. And then, of course, he just destroys the unity with his bare hands. It's not that Superman was too overpowered, it's that the threat was obviously way too little. Justice League was never actually needed, only Superman. But now THIS makes a lot more sense! Now making Steppenwolf stay down takes team effort from Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman, and it is up to Cyborg AND FLASH to end the unity. There's nothing Superman can actually do. When Flash fails, he DIES, and if Flash wouldn't reverse time, he would've stayed dead this time. An actual Justice League was needed to prevent this catastrophe from happening. And it's even more satisfying to learn that Steppenwolf was never the big bad in the first place. When Darkseid crushes his skull with his you FEEL that he was an actual insect next to the actual villain. Now the movie actually works. The stakes are there, the villain that works is there, the teamup actually makes sense and has a satisfying conclusion.
Seeing Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the equivalent of seeing Tobey Maguire in No Way Home. What’s more remarkable is that it all happened in the same year. Quite awesome.
I disagree. Snyder made DC films. Nolan made Batman films. Nolan's formula won't work for most of other dceu superheroes. And the reason why Nolan trilogy is so good is because he only focussed on Batman and other lore related to Batman. Just look how worthless Batman is in big fight scenes like this one. Apart from killing that sniper. All he did was wait and watch. No amount of universe threatening movies can use Batman effectively. Because Batman is suited for smaller scale issues like the stake of Gotham compared to the stake of the whole universe. That's why most of the movies like Nolan trilogy, man of Steel, wonder woman, Aquaman, and Shazam worked comparatively better. Because the villian was matched with the hero. You either need a fabulous storyline like the Avengers movies to effectively use all the superheroes. Or you get mediocre CGI heavy movies like Batman v Superman, justice league, Zack Snyder's justice league. Yes there I said it. This movie too is mediocre, maybe a bit above average at best. But we see Zack Snyder's justice league with rose tinted glasses because Joss Whedon messed up so bad.
Other actors but it won't be as perfect as these and it won't be as good as the fights in this universe just compare how Stepphenwolf looks in the Whedon cut with Stepphenwolf in the Snyder cut there's a huge difference
Zack Snyder's Justice League, Matt Reeves' The Batman, Todd Phillips' Joker and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy are some of the best comic book movies DC could ever offer.
Absolutely perfect use of Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel theme. I know they are already friends, but it's clear that Tom Holkenborg truly respects Zimmer as he incorporates his themes at the perfect times, and then builds on them for the rest of the score. The score is definitely one of the many reasons this movie is vastly superior to the theatrical cut.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen some incorporation of Williams's Superman theme in this scene, perhaps at the beginning when he first arrives.
Not really Look "Not impressed" was more like superman telling Steppenwolf "I fought more powerful person than you and you are weak compared to them". "Bring me thanos" is more for revenge. Thanos killed half of his people, killed his friend and his brother. Thor was pissed and mad. So for me it's not the same emotion. My opinion ofc 👍
1:14 is exactly when Steppy gave up fighting... He got destroyed so bad that you can actually feel pity for him, despite destroying 100,000 worlds.. lol
This Steppenwolf is so much more badass than the other version where he whined about his axe getting destroyed.. here, he just looked surprised for a second and immediately tried to punch Superman
Four things that make this scene so freaking epic: 1.) Superman's entrance. Rarely has there ever been a superhero film that has managed to do an epic entrance scene that is so nonchalant and cool as this one. The fact that Superman is able to withstand an Apocalypse weapon wielded by a New God, and it doesn't do a damn thing is awesome, but that "not impressed" line was just the absolute best thing Clark has ever said. 2.) The epic music playing when Superman pummels Steppenwolf. Say what you want, but you are never not going to hear me hum to this epic soundtrack. Chills every time. 3.) The moment the parademon managed to land a hit on Barry. That Parademon gets serious browny points from me. Unlike the 2017 version, they were actually intelligent and could learn from mistakes, which makes them even more deadly. 4.) Darkseid's entrance at the last minute. Not only did it give me chills, but the sheer level of fear and desperation that goes through Victor's voice as he screams out Barry's name is absolutely mind blowing. Rather than the team winning and undoing the Unity, they actually have a new threat to face and it gives Barry the opportunity to save the day. Amazing writing and storytelling.
Your not wrong this entire final battle gives me chills Batman taking out the parademons everyone is dealing with steppenwolf and I love how it’s not that they they lost until Barry reversed time despite this movie being four hours it’s still incredible
I'm gutted as well. Loved this and Man of Steel, 2 of my favourite comic book movies. Seeing pictures of Safran with Levi on holiday with big smiles on their faces, put me off watching Shazam, not that I rate Shazam that highly anyway. DC will definitely seeing a lot less of my cash in the future, with all that went down. Loved The Authority though, when I read it many years ago, one of the better series I read. Might have to cave on that one when it's finally made, with its darker tone, I don't see how he can really muck that up. That one definitely should have been left for Snyder.
3:36 here I love that when darkseid shows up it’s really a they lost and I appreciate when movies do that showing the hero’s actually losing the battle
When comparing this to the corresponding scene in Fakeass Justice League, there is no comparison. The one line, "Not impressed," was so much more impressive than the crap that Josh wrote
Barry screaming he cant hold his speed for too long is what i love like. Even though he is the damn fastest man alive he still have his base limit. Yes in comic and animated series he always goes faster than light speed. But here its just shows how barry is still new to this time travel thing.
@amatoyoichi8468 He said he can't "maintain" that speed, not that he can't keep up with it. It's like standing on your toes, easy to do but hard to keep doing.
I do love that yes he can reach that level of speed but it physically hurts when he’s screaming to victor that he can maintain that speed for much longer I felt for him
Pleaseeee let snyder finish his work please This movie will always be in the top for me. I have cried seeing superman arrival and the way they introduce him. The way he looked calm and peaceful yet powerful Please let snyder finish his trilogy his story
Honestly, I respected Steppenwolf the most during this entire film. Unrelenting badass. Obviously he's the ''bad guy'', but look at it from his perspective: This guy wasn't afraid whatsoever to singlehandedly fight Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, and then Superman. Even once his weapon was shattered and his blows deflected helplessly against Superman, he kept on fighting with his bare hands. Never quit, never begged for mercy. Imagine being surrounded by all of those guys all thirsting for vengeance, and so confidently going all out, and literally managing to hold them all off long enough to finish the plan and succeed. Had Barry not turned back time, Steppenwolf would've won. RIP Steppenwolf.
Oh yeah!! Steppenwolf was a VERY flesh & blood creation of a character! The brilliance of his digital presentation in conjunction with actor Ciaran Hinds' fantastic voice/acting had Steppenwolf's performance dusting that of some real life performers, in my opinion.
Nobody mentioned the fact that Aquaman and Diana look so awesome together. He looks so masculine and she looks so beautiful. They look like Pirate - Angel couple Drax mention in infinity war.❤❤
I know im years late on this. But this cut is a million times better. The dark terminator like superman is almost tear jerking just to watch him stoicly dismantle steppenwolf.
I love Hans Zimmer x Junkie XL. And I hate how they kept trying to bring back Reeve's Superman theme in the Joss Whedon Justice League and even Black Adam. Like just use the themes in the Snyder films its way more fitting.
shame we'll never get to see that fight between the Man of Steel and Darkseid. Even more shame that this could have been the perfect universe to introduce Superman Prime.
did you really just say " his approach to DC characters is mythological and respectful" ? Snyder is a good director but he completely butchered superman as a character.
@@parkranga Snyder did not butcher Superman, he gave Superman a character arc, something which Supes is sorely missing in most interpretations. Snyder was building towards the blue boy scout rather than starting off with that right off the bat. I'm getting really tired of people who don't know the first thing about storytelling saying that he butchered Superman because he wasn't the biggest beam of optimism from day 1 in a world that was not only scared of him but actively wanted him to not exist. (Also, btw, Chris Nolan, a master of the art of storytelling, developed the story for MoS with David S Goyer with minor input from Zack, and I don't think anyone with half a braincell would say that Nolan can't write a story the way they say that about Zack for MoS, a film he didn't even write) The entire story of the Snyderverse is Superman trying to find his place in the world and GROWING into the hero we all know from the comics.
@@parkranga I get that you're suffering from severe cognitive dissonance but simply saying "delusional" is not an argument, in fact you have put forward exactly 0 information to support your side. It just makes you look dumb.
@@VisionsOfSpyI didn't fully get nor appreciate the arc of DCEU Superman until the later points in college. Plus, Snyder's handling indirectly inspired my pitching on Captain Mar-Vell. Overall, the Snyder handling has a hidden amount of intelligence that tends to be taken for granted or mistaken as edge.
I lvoe the small bit how with the improved design of Steppenwolf, the slow-mo punch moment stops being cheesy, it gives us a moment to focus on his utterly alien physiology
How I love this Superman entry and the whole fight against Steppenwolf. Here Superman did arrive in time to save Cyborg, not like in the 2017 movie that arrives late after Cyborg was split in 2. Superman is the OG of the superheroes. It doesn't matter if it is the DC universe or the Marvel universe. He was the first created superhero back in 1938 (with the exception of some less well known original superheroes) and has always represented the best of humanity including honesty, humility, honor and goodness. He is the beacon of light that always makes one's own heart swell knowing that good will prevail over evil and that line between the two will always be able to be drawn. There is and was so much they could have done with Henry Cavill's superman, including a bazaar movie where he is evil and hunts the superheroes (and good triumphs in the end and he turns good) - or a kind of "civil war" so to speak. (There was a glimpse of that in a prior movie but it was never fully realized). Hopefully they bring us a fully fleshed out and realized series of DC superhero movies still to come and they do a bang up job. I for one would love to see that "evil superman" movie fully fleshed out. (he obviously turns good again just in the nick of time).

Holkenborg worked on Man of Steel.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen some incorporation of Williams's Superman theme in this scene, perhaps at the beginning when he first arrives.

@@blessingsmpunga2136How is it trash.😅
Well Said
Four things that make this scene so freaking epic:
1.) Superman's entrance.
Re: #2 - I know it’s kind of cheesy, but in my head I hear the opening to Williams’s Superman theme when he arrives…
Your not wrong this entire final battle gives me chills Batman taking out the parademons everyone is dealing with steppenwolf and I love how it’s not that they they lost until Barry reversed time despite this movie being four hours it’s still incredible
I adore this movie. Can't believe plebs took more of this from us.
I’m gonna miss Henry cavil as Superman. Just the scene of him arriving and kicking ass is amazing
He can't hold himself UNDER light speed for too long. Not going ABOVE.
@amatoyoichi8468 He said he can't "maintain" that speed, not that he can't keep up with it. It's like standing on your toes, easy to do but hard to keep doing.
I do love that yes he can reach that level of speed but it physically hurts when he’s screaming to victor that he can maintain that speed for much longer I felt for him
The Superman theme when it’s playing is another world

The older, more mature looking superman in this movie is very refreshing and looks fantastic in black!

Zack Snyder is an avid reader of Joseph Campbell and a fan of Frank Frazetta; his approach to DC characters is mythological and respectful.
did you really just say " his approach to DC characters is mythological and respectful" ? Snyder is a good director but he completely butchered superman as a character.
@@parkranga Snyder did not butcher Superman, he gave Superman a character arc, something which Supes is sorely missing in most interpretations. Snyder was building towards the blue boy scout rather than starting off with that right off the bat. I'm getting really tired of people who don't know the first thing about storytelling saying that he butchered Superman because he wasn't the biggest beam of optimism from day 1 in a world that was not only scared of him but actively wanted him to not exist. (Also, btw, Chris Nolan, a master of the art of storytelling, developed the story for MoS with David S Goyer with minor input from Zack, and I don't think anyone with half a braincell would say that Nolan can't write a story the way they say that about Zack for MoS, a film he didn't even write)
The entire story of the Snyderverse is Superman trying to find his place in the world and GROWING into the hero we all know from the comics.
