    Hey so if you’re using aquarium co op strips I actually did an experiment last summer and found out that sunlight will cause the strips to read as positive for chlorine! Take some pond water inside and then test and the chlorine shouldn’t show up!

    Summer patio ponding is super fun! Your ponds always look awesome and the tips and tricks you include are priceless. Thank you!
    This is my second year setting up a patio pond. No fish last year, but this year I’ve finally got some Medakas. My mini pond is 20sh gal with 10 gal bog filter (overkill for sure). This week I had to buy another 10 gal planter just to move excess water hyacinths which are overtaking water surface. I find that with these type of setups, it’s difficult to register any N in the water. Even nitrates aren’t showing unless I’m frequently adding ferts. I also let Mother Nature do the water changes - typically we get enough rain in NC to do the job.

    I love the idea of having a little pond in the backyard, I am going to try this. As a dressmaker, I do have to comment on the shears that you were using to cut those scouring pads… Were those your wife’s good fabric scissors??! 😮

    I use a black pipe insulator instead of pool noodle, its a little less conspicuous than the neon colors most noodles come in. But if youre trying not to cross strains of ricefish, i see why you'd color-code them.

    I would ring the top with a plexi glass and put reflective window film on the inside edge. So when you turn on the lights they are reflecting back down into the pond

    hey! I am new to this hobby and i was wondering how to keep the check o2 level in check in a no tech setup like this? how much aqua plant is enough for what amount of fishes(also types of fishes). can you please explain some of that in your next video?

  • @RyanStonedonCanadianGaming
    @RyanStonedonCanadianGaming Рік тому

    Just because they're tough and hardy, don't let the water quality get too bad as they will still die.
    Learned this the hard way.
    For cold winter people, Don't leave the plastic tubs full in the winter time as they will crack due to expanding ice from freezing.
    Also learned this the hard way.
    Don't have it sitting in direct sunlight for so long or you'll have a nice mat of algae growing on the walls.
    I'm probably forgetting other things from personal experience.

    • @AshsVaporeon
      @AshsVaporeon 11 місяців тому

      So what do you do with the bond in the winter? It doesn't freeze or kill the fish if you leave it outside? I want to do this but I live in canada and our winters are pretty tough

    • @trustn01rs
      @trustn01rs 8 місяців тому

      @@AshsVaporeonas small as it is you could just bring it inside or have a 10-20 gallon tank and net out the fish and bring them inside overwinter
