Thanks! The biggest take away for me is how concentrated the small cans are. Now I won’t hesitate to purchase them through Amazon. I’m a big fan of your channel. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much! I repair neon beer signs which are dyed. The glass used is white and then dipped in a very expensive liquid to look like more expensive glass. The Tamiya red is almost a perfect match for ruby red and it looks like the Tamiya yellow will match the yellow (look at a Corona sign.) The paint has saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks for showing the finished product. That was what I was looking for!
OH Wow who knew. I just googled the sign LOL Happy it helped you!
What a super helpful video. I've never thought of spraying glass until I started watching your channel and your charming, educational videos. When I crack my glass, I come up with lots of chards and I make sure I get them small like the cracked glass you can buy. I have some really wonderful home-cracked clear glass. I thought of giving it all a day-long tumble to make it less "edgy" but haven't done it. But now I'm thinking of also spraying the glass per your different videos. You've given me so many ideas. After all that, still have not completed my Swatch watch table because I have been chicken to work with resin. I have a bit of a fear about resin and haven't tried it. Thank you for all your ideas. I've completely revamped my work with glass at the moment thanks to your inspiration.
I am so happy that you find it helpful. Yes just start with a small project and work your way up.
don't spray the glass until after you have tumbled it or it will come off
So important to know. I love the ‘color cards’! Thanks so much
You are so welcome!
Amazing info! Thanks! Made the choice easier!
You are welcome
If I might make a suggestion, using the lacquer type of Tamiya paint instead of the ones for Polycarbonate would make for a better result as they're made for a high gloss finish on plastics and don't "etch" themselves into the plastic or resin, giving a really nice look! The PC sprays are made specifically for remote control car bodies, which are made of Polycarbonate. I've got a lot of experience with these sorts of paints since I'm a model kit builder, and these are for model kits after all. By the way, the proper pronunciation for Tamiya is 'Ta-mee-ya' and not 'Ta-may-ya', as it's a Japanese brand. ^-^
Is the lacquer type translucent? With the glass we want translucent. That is why i chose this one
Also thank you for the pronunciation tip i was just repeating what the other you-tubers call it
@@crazyglasslady Yes, there's a line of translucent colours in the lacquer range! There's smoke (which is clear black), clear orange, clear red and clear blue, as well as clear pearl which gives a really nice looking pearl finish to things. There's only those colours sadly, so the Polycarbonate type seems the best bet for the rest you want, however a spray of the gloss clear lacquer will bring back a smooth gloss finish.
Thank you for the information. I will be sure to let everyone know!
Oh Thank You!! This was so so so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to paint samples. You've saved me buying the wrong color. You're awesome.
Glad it was helpful! You are very welcome!
Awesome- I'm working on a scale model which requires some different coloured translucent elements and it was great to see the comparison across different types and colours. Thanks for testing em all so I didn't have to!
You are very welcome. We use them in Glass art I know they were made for models I believe plastic.
absolutely perfectly well done video. i dont do arts and crafts but i work in the garage a lot and needed this info. thank you!
Glad it was helpful! What would you use the spray paint for? Just curious.
I just discovered your site, and WoW you are awesome! I learned so much from you!
Thank you! Welcome! We have a facebook group also where everyone is posting there creations and asking questions.
Wow! Just the info I needed! You are amazing! Thank you Thank you Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much. This was a great video and just what I'm researching!!!
That’s great are you looking to paint on glass or plastic? I just tried out a couple of the metallic spray paints that are real nice from Tamiya
Great overview!
Thanks!
Thanks for the excellent, informative video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I thought I was the only one who has been searching and scouring because I happen to see a short and somebody was using spray paint and I was like I didn't know they made translucent spray paint for glass where have you been all my life I don't even know what I want to make with you but I know I can make it now.
Definitely a new subscriber and I like the video thank you
I am so happy that that helped you! I am learning as I go and trying to share it.

Fantastic video. Really covera a lot of products, what works, how muktiple colors look when you're done.
I have another art project I want to dive into and this really helps for setting expectations. Thanks!!!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've been noodling a problem regarding front door glass and this is food for thought.
You are very welcome. Are you thinking about using the glass from your front door for something or painting it in place..
Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. I Love all of your work.
You are so welcome! Thank you!
great video thanks for the free info!

Very informative.. thank you

Thank you!😊
You're welcome 😊
I found this video trying to find the canary yellow from Krylon. It's out of production, so the prices are unreasonable. Glad to find an alternative, thank you!
yes and the thing is krylon is so much harder to work with because you have to do 4-5 very light coats to get what one coat of the tamiya does . and if you spray too much krylon on it bubbles up and leaves a terrible finish. I feel the small tamiya is equivalent to the large krylon because it is so concentrated.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
its good to see the tamiya translucent blue looks better than the krylon. you may be able to find these tamiya paints at rc car hobby shops. i'm going to check a couple this weekend.
Yes Well on Amazon they are $7-$11 depending on the color . That is reasonable if you have a prime account because then it is free shipping.
Very helpful video I actually purchased the crayon raspberry red on Amazon for $25 bucks think I will return it, now that I’ve seen the Tamiya, saw it on Amazon for $11 that included shipping
wow yes that's expensive!
Hi Linda I'm tumbling some clear glass really need red color. I will try Tamiya spray
Thank you. Hope you and family are safe with Storm Idalia. 🤗
Thanks so much! We are all good here. It actually made landfall a couple hours north of us we only had low winds and storms! Yes tamiya is a very nice red!
Awesome video...The reason they are flat is because the Tamiya is used for RC bodies mostly.....Clear lexan etc...So you would spray that on the inside an wet paint is what you get!!!!!!
Thank you! What do you mean you could spray it on the inside?
Very interesting, and good info to know. In my opinion, Tamiya messed up by not making their colors glossy.
With resin art when you pour the resin on the glass they become glossy.
@@crazyglasslady Good point, didn't think of that. I think a Golden or Liquitex gloss medium could work too.
Thank you so much for your videos, they are the best!! We are in Texas with strong sun like Fl, have you found your fav non yellowing resin? I’ve just been using Art Resin (so expensive)!
Well, I have been using a couple of the reasons that Steve McDonald had tested in his videos and they did not yellow in his videos. Where is the art resin did but these are fast curing resins and the fast curing resin are good on glass and in molds but you can’t use them on canvases because they cause fish eyes I truly don’t believe there are any residents that can go out in the heat or in the sun, especially in Florida but I figure the resins that did well in the sun would probably be less likely to yellow in the house also.
Sorry, I am talk texting i meant to say resin not reasons or residents
Have you tried Pebeo Vitrail Stained Glass Effect Glass Paint (45-Milliliter Bottle). I have bought two colors and like the color and the translucent look. Not sure how it will work with the resin though, so wondered if you had used it. The first attempt, I actually painted the color on with a brush. Then I put the glass in a plastic cup and poured a few drops and then shook the color on the glass. I liked the variation in the color. Then I put it on waxed paper to dry, had to turn it a few times. It looked good. Now just wondering if it works over time with the resin. Thanks.
No, I have never heard of it. Where do you get it from? If you do use it with resin, would you let us know how it turns out and maybe post a picture on our Facebook page
Do you know if you use the tamia spray paint in frosted glass light fixtures? Thanks!
Im not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if you could use tamiya colored translucent spray paint on a frosted glass light shade.
The tamiya spray paint is very concentrated. You may consider using the krylon which comes out lighter depending on what color you are looking for. Well you could see on my video what they look like. You can do it, I would just practice on another piece of glass first like maybe a clear glass bottle. I hope that helps
I'm thinking of using gallery glass or Color Splash!® Glass Stain
Let me know how it works. The translucent spray paints are so simple. You should compare.
Wow...since this video, (5 days later) the small cans of Tamiya spray paint have increased $3-$4 a a can more...now $11+ a can......
Oh wow! thats Amazon. Go on Hobbylinc they have them on sale for $5.80 but you have to pay shipping it would be worth it if you are buying several. You can also just google it and it will show you all your options. That's how I found it. Good luck.
Have you ever sprayed store bought seaglass to change the color or is it too opaque?
I have not but if you are using the clear store bought and spray the translucent it would work fine. And if you have colored you can tumble off the color maybe even wipe it off with a chemical and then spray it.
Are you using the acrylic Tamiya or oil base?
I didn't know they have an oil based? These are all acrylic water based paints
@Vintage Bride good to know thanks
Do you have to seal it before using resin on it to keep it from bleeding the color?
No, you do not have to seal it. It does not bleed. You just have to make sure it’s dry. It works beautifully.
Mam can you tell me which paint suitable for lighters which doesn't fade on sunlight 😢
I have not tested any of the paints in sunlight but that is a good idea.
What would you use for a white translucent but still look white, not clear?
Is it on glass or canvas? If on canvas you can just paint white on the canvas and put clear glass over the area or if it is on glass you could probably use the artist loft iridescent medium lightly. I have used it in several of my snowmen videos but I think if you just use a very light coat it would give you the effect you are looking for.
I wish you held a light behind it so we could see how it glares
This one has opaque spray paint on it so the light would not shine through it. I will make one with translucent glass
Can you tumble glass after it has been sprayed with translucent paint?
No you can not tumble glass after you spray it. You must tumble it first then spray it.
Can you post the product number for the purple tamiya paint? I really want that one and want to be sure and get the correct type of paint. Thank you so much for the video.
PS-45 Purple translucent
Thank you so much
@@sherrywallace3094 welcome
You have everything except for the amber. The one I need to see 😢
I do not think they have amber but I did mess around with the Krylon ones at one point and I think I mixed red and yellow to create an amber I know I sent an email to someone with pics that showed it she was trying to create something for her wedding. We may be able to do that with the Tamiya.
Didn’t even know
Hobby Lobby had Krylon Sea Glass not stained glass paint in Aqua for $8.99, but was out of the other colors. Not sure what the difference is. Also be careful and make sure you order the Tamiya "translucent" spray paint. Amazon charges shipping for it & I am a prime member.
Where do you live because shipping is free for me with prime. It says free delivery after all the spray paints i see
I'm in NC.
Just checked again to make sure I wasn't dreaming it. Lol. Yep, got charged 2.99 on top of the 7.25 but it is still alot cheaper then the other paints.
well of the 12 listed here yes 4 you have to pay for delivery but they are $7.00 and the free delivery ones are $11.00 so i guess its the same LOL They are trying to make $11.00 which ever way they do it.

Will the tamyia stick to glass?
Did you watch this video? All the samples are on glass yes that is what I use it for. It dries fast never fades never runs when you pour resin on it.
How do you apply?
You just spray them on in light coats. The Tamiya only takes 1 or 2 coats an d the krylon takes 3-5 coats depending on how dark you want it . It must dry between coats
i wonder if Tamiya paint is scratch resistant ?
Well I have a piece I painted 9 months ago for this video and I am scratching it as hard as I can with my fingernail and the paint is not scratching but when i do it with a sharp point of a scissors it scratched off. Hopefully no one will take a scissors to it. LOL
@@crazyglasslady thank you so much for your kind reply and fantastic information , I'm planning to yellow tint my off-road headlights on my motorcycle , ill update you with the results, i appropriate your work, keep it up
@@awsalmousa7603 Thank you and good luck with your motorcycle.
I've never seen any at Ace.
You have to go on line. I have never seen any of the translucent spray paints anywhere besides online. You can order it to be picked up in the store then you don't have to pay shipping.
Ty for all your time involved making this video 😊

@@lindast-arnauld6464 I just tried all of the Tamaya spray paint links, and they all work, and I tried all of the or the one Krylon one, and it worked. Try it again.
@@crazyglasslady ok thx
I tried to Tamya and it's Not really transparent ... Unfortunately I ruined my guitar, now I have to polish it .... :-/
You have to buy the Tamiya that says translucent transparent would men clearsome Tamiya are not What one did you get
It's pronounced TA-MEE-YA. Thanks for the demo
Thank you, yes some one else told me that I just have it stuck in my head that it is pronounced the other way. LOL
