    I recently tried TS-21 Gold with Clear Red, and yes it did come out dull. However problem was solved when gloss coat is applied. At first I'd thought it was due to the environment conditions (i was spraying outdoors). Hope it helps some people!

    Awesome test. I've been meaning to try out the spray cans in these colors since these are lacquer. Definitely decant though and push through a airbrush because spraying from the can is an incredible waste of paint. But when that's not an option for people those cans work great.

    First, v thanks for the video...talk about very helpful info. Since you did this video, they have definitely added additional colors - green, yellow, purple, silver...possibly others (I didn't bother checking online).
    Personally, I have an upcoming project that I purchased the translucent blue & silver. As I plan on lightly backing the blue with the silver, I'll have to do several 'tests' to determine exactly how many layers of each to achieve what I'm hoping to do.

    I bought my first Tamiya spray cans and they turned out pretty good. First TFD 1/64 slot car body had some sandpaper scratch marks after first coating. I went to 800 grit for next one and Slightly heavier coating. Turned out great. The huge spray pattern is way overkill for this use. Just not sure if I need/want to coat with a clear. I tried to turn over to clear out the tip on my first can, but it just sprayed color wasting paint. At almost $9 a can now with shipping since I can't get locally for just one slot car body it's expensive, but quick.

      @@barbatosrex9473 thanks for the reply! I'm really going for a candy apple look and am paranoid on the turnout. Sorry one last question. Do you think I still need to apply a primer first, then the gold and then the clear red? Or even using a gloss black base. Thanks for posting your videos. Big help!

    Yes, the old argument. Many pro modelers decant then airbrush. For me, too messy and too much wasted paint. Also smelly ?? Fumes??

      I have such a large inventory of paints I haven't had the need to decant but I would like to try it some time

      If sprayed directly into the airbrush from the can, there is no mess and the paint stays where its best - in the can...

    • @JasperStevens80
      @JasperStevens80 2 роки тому

      This is not messy at all? I cut a small pipet which fits perfect on the nozzle, then I slide a cut down straw on the pipet. Use some tape to fix the pipet to the nozzle. Put some tape over the top of the jar, poke a small hole in it and put the straw down the hole. Now start spraying, no mess at all…done in under 10 minutes.
      When the can is empty you can cut it open, to pour whats left over into the jar. And you can use the shaking balls.
      Yes it smells, its lacquer :) use mask and in ventilated area.
