I've started to watch your old videos and the one thing that really strikes me is how little those videos have changed. While so many other UA-camrs worked on the quality of their videos over a period of a few years yours have been super professional and high quality from the very beginning. I cannot ever tell if I'm watching a video from last month or if it's from 4 years back.
My thoughts exactly! Lisa is such a classic. Also, I realized I skipped the ad as I do all the vids I watch on youtube, but not Lisa's so I just closed and re watched it and let the ad roll. 😆
I value Lisa Eldridge's videos because they are professional. She is on topic from the get-go; she doesn't waste our time on inane chitchat; she illustrates makeup applications for a wide variety of occasions and needs; she includes older women as well as the young and middle-aged; she visibly illustrates what she is explaining; and she shares the names of the products she uses in each demonstration. What a help it is, too, that she also provides a written list of the products. The video images are also high-quality. Yes, hers are very good tutorial videos.
I just realized what I love most about watching real MUA's as opposed to beauty bloggers like nikkietutorials out Jaclyn Hill or tati: they treat makeup for what it is. tools. not like magical treasures that are going to change your whole life and need to be hoarded, but like tools to be used as needed for a purpose. I like that view.
Who defines what's "real" makeup?? It's just paint you put on your face for fun. I love more natural makeup, but there's no need to put down others who don't. I can't believe your comment has so many likes
What I like about Lisa is that she's clearly a professional, and yet she can make achieving a beautiful makeup look seem easy and accessible. I would even describe watching her as "liberating" in a sense. After looking around YT for a while to try to get the basics of makeup down I came away feeling like I needed tons of different products and tools and huge chunks of time a day to go through so many steps every day. Just to be presentable. Seeing Lisa smacked some sense into me, and I feel more comfortable and confident now with my makeup choices and preferences. The YT/IG drag is a fine look for people who want it and enjoy it, and if it makes you feel good to take that time in the morning or before going out, do it! I just feel relieved to see something relatable and validating of my own experience.
I agree with you. Everyone calls their tinted moisturisers BB's now regardless of what they do and whether or not they are worthy of the title. Its the new buzz word in Western beauty. The original Asian BB's were very different. I liked this Smash box one because it was spf35 and offered high protection X
I used to be a makeup hoarder, after this video I really pin pointed what I really needed for my makeup bag! Thanks for being amazing (as always) Lisa!
The most amazing thing about Lisa's videos is that she is a artist and true legend, not just another UA-cam star that's just put make-up on. She knows her craft and you learn about formulas, and pigment rather than just brands. Also, her voice is so relaxing... this is my version of ASMR videos
How perfect! This video is almost 7 years old but perfect now as I pack for a trip overseas to London! My foundations/tinted moisturizers etc all have SPF, so I've got that all set! But yes, would love to see an updated version of this kind of mini-makeup essentials bag again. As Thoreau said, Simplify, simplify, simplify.
Hi Lisa, please do an update Minimalist Capsule Make Up and Skincare (UV!) Essentials for 2016. There are many new make up technics and products developments. I would love to learn your opinions about this subject.
Great suggestion! And ideally mixing some European with Asian brands, and standard with organic brands! Lisa is the only one able to offer us a complete and global perspective on the topic! Love her (from Italy hehe :) )
They sound just like dark freckles, are you sure you need to cover them?? I would be inclined to keep away from the full, heavy coverage and just conceal the largest darkest 'freckles' with dermablend or keromask and let the rest show. I bet they dont look anywhere near as bad as you think. People dont notice these types of things ... they are more likely to be concentrating on your pretty eyes! X
Of course I agree with you, I'm not saying here that you have to use exactly these products, these are just suggestions - based what I was using when I made the video - to help you get organised on a daily basis to save time. When I said 'back to school' (in inverted commas) in the intro, I meant it metaphorically. Its more like a general after the summer, get organised and back in the routine for work/college/school or whatever. Sorry that wasnt clear X
yes its one of my all time favourites ... ever! As long as its applied correctly (thin layer without rubbing) it works so well! Love it! I have mentioned it quite a few of my videos X
I love how in your videos the makeup is never in the center of attention. It's always about the person wearing it. Even, no especially when you do a specific makeup look on a model it is always about the model and what looks the most flattering on her.
I do bleached brow looks a LOT for editorial shoots. Hadnt thought of doing one here as I doubt many people would go for it ; ) It looks amazing in pictures but in real life its a difficult one to pull off (especially when the dark roots starts showing through) X
Some of the many things I love about you - you apply make-up as you talk about it, and you mix high- and low-end products Very helpful and it makes it even more interesting! thanks sooooooo much for your videos Lisa!

Lisa you are highly regarded and have worked incredibly hard to achieve this level of professional success. You must get so sick of people who are negative. Ignore those faceless people. There is always someone who wants to tear others down. Thankfully there are genuinely beautiful people in the world like yourself, who inspire and educate people about how to celebrate life.
You've really changed my outlook on makeup, Lisa. Your approach is so natural, classy and sophisticated. Thank you for the inspiration on a daily basis!
haha no. Everyone is different of course but if your are oily then a little power or blot throughout the day normal. If you have blemishes then a concealer touch up throughout the day is pretty normal too (for me anyhow). Likewise if you go out straight from work then applying extra lipstick, more eyeliner or brushing your brows is pretty usual too. Everyone is different and there are no set rules X
which formula? HM Serum or Original? Serum is richer and better for normal/deydrated/dry (and combination skin if you want a vry dewy/luminous finish and youre not too oily). Original is sheerer and more natural with a velvet finish, more suited to combination, oily skin, large pores etc. X
Have you done an updated version of this video? I was going to ask if you didn't like the becca eyeshadow palettes but then I checked the date and realized they probably weren't out when you made this video. The becca palettes are my favorite I think they are so essential to me.
I completely agree, seeing a new video popping up in my subscription box always brightens up my day! But we have to keep in mind that Lisa's got a full time job as a make up artist and she's also a mother. As much as I wish she could do more videos, I wonder how she can make this many at all! x
Not if you take it off properly and gently without rubbing. Have you seen my make-up removal video? Have a look, there are some good tips for getting stubborn eye make off X
The lipstick colour really suits you! And it made the hell of a difference when you put the blush on. I liked, how you put the products on when you walked us through the range that you picked out.
These videos have helped me to realize that I was still doing the same makeup routine for years now. So I'll b off to the MAC counter to get some new things. Thank you Lisa.
ok, I use this this one as I like dewy looking skin but I need to powder and blot with it as its quite rich and a good medium coverage (plus I dont use it all over my face). Have you tried the original one ever? Its very different. I like both for different reasons X
I love you! You're one of my favourite makeup gurus on youtube, the reason for that is because you focus on using minimal makeup and just enhancing your natural features instead of covering up:)
Everyday while I do my makeup I watch one of your videos. It's inspirational and calming/soothing. And I learn new tips and tricks everyday. Thank you, Lisa, for making great videos and especially for being you. 💋❤️
Thank you for this helpful video! I'm always amazed on how you transform what other gurus make boring into something interesting and fun to watch! Your videos have this special touch to them that is very unique. You're the best, Lisa! xx
Well I'm starting with no make-up (only a little BB cream) which is never a good look on anyone lol! This was filmed right before I went on holiday too, so I was in the middle of my last crazy week of work. I was definitely in need of my holiday in Italy X
Everyone is different. Some people's make-up doesn't budge once its done others find it wont last all day, whatever they use. This video is a suggestion of what to use at the beginning of the day to be organised and then in terms of touch ups and what you take out its so hard to be prescriptive as I dont know your skin type, look situation etc. It you feel like you put too much on then maybe you do? Trust your instincts X
Bourjois healthy mix serum is my new holy grail foundation thanks to Lisa. I use oilatum moisturiser, then Gosh primer then apply the foundation with a stippling brush and then use healthy mix concealer and dust over some powder. I have dry cheeks and a seriously shiny nose and this seems to work for me. It's so sheer but buildable and looks great even hours later when I finish work with a little powder added halfway through the day just on my t-zone x
Yes!!!!! Please do a tutorial for the Keira Knightley look. I always love the way her makeup looks and have tried looking for tutorials, products used on her, etc online & haven't been able to find anything substantial.
That was very helpful Lisa thank you! I’ve watched a few of yours tonight and I have learned a lot, especially the anti ageing ones. I’m really finding it difficult how to apply my makeup now I have wrinkles, textured skin, sun spots etc. But watching you address these areas has made me realise where I’ve been going wrong. So I’m actually excited to have a go in the morning and one thing for me to master, is a very light hand. 😀 thank you again
I would just like to say, You're the perfect makeup artist. And I am just going to share whats in my essentials makeup bag in my handbag. A small pot of liquid foundation (Chanel perfection Lumiere), moisturizing foundation primer (body shop) [to avoid dry patches and even coverage for my foundation), eyeliner pen for quick liner (2true), waterproof mascara (bourjois one second), bronzer (body shop shimmer waves), lip-balm (Bobbi brown), retractable brush (body shop), tinted lip balm (revlon) [apply generously for a lipstick effect].
Are the Body-Shop makeup products good? I was always a little scared of using them. I really like their skin products, but i've never tried the makeup. Do you have things, you recommend? ;)
You are just absolutely beautiful. You are honestly someone I look up to in the world of makeup. I don't feel like it's just a mask anymore. It's a whole new kind of art. It accentuates, brings out the best of each of us. And to top it all off you're so classy. Oh god the class!
Love the blotting paper packaging. Sephora used to carry one just like it, but they stopped carrying it several years ago. The papers that come in a packet doesn't allow you to use only what you need. Great video!
Brilliant video, thank you so much. I have never thought to really organize my makeup bag. I just throw in the newest thing and then it's all filled up with lip glosses in the same tones and nothing I really need. I'll be doing this today. I love your videos and have watched them with girlfriends and then we'd try your tips and techniques on each other. It makes for a fun girls night and we learn new things to help us look lovely. You are the best!
i love the No7 lip liner! it is just the perfect shade for my lips and is the exact match for them, it's so flattering too. i also love wearing it with a gloss over the top, i use the Lancome juicy tube in Toffee, they are really nice together and just perfect my lips without looking overdone. xx
Lisa - you're wonderful. I love each and every one of your videos. I learn something new in each one. I especially like your 'no makeup' makeup technique. Its great for my every day wear and it taught me a lot. Thanks!
Your channel is so helpful! I'm not a makeup artist but I apply your tips to my makeup or doing friends makeup. You can just slap on some makeup with your fingers and look just beautiful!!!
Great video, I've always wanted to get my handbag make-up organised because soetimes I want to touch up on an area and I haven't got anything with me. This was super helpful, love you and your videos Lisa!
I love your videos. No matter how many times I rewatch your videos, they are still extremely useful and interesting! It doesn't hurt that you look gorgeous too!
Hey lisa, just wanna thank you for putting up so many great videos. I love your effortless and no -make up look. The tips and tricks really did enhance my confidence and makes my day better. thanks! xoxo
OMG, I watch your videos religiously, and I have every single one of them downloaded in HD in my special "Lisa" folder. I keep it on my USB stick in case my laptop dies. I love your videos so much, you're my first and only UA-cam crush. Kisses from Croatia :)
I also have pale skin, and have been using the Ben Nye Taupe eyeshadow. Blends well, and goes on very softly at first, and can be worked up, if need be.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise ! I've learned so much from your films. Its amazing getting to connect with professionals such as yourself over UA-cam
Thank you so much for this video Lisa. I ordered some of the products you had for effortless get up and go. It's nice to have a clean makeup bag. I try to clean the bag with a drop of surgical spirit... Good to spray on your brushes after washing them. ( a Wayne Goss) tip. I now swear by it. Thank you again for your tips.
thank you so much for this i am just going through my makeup bag today and to be honest its taken over my whole handbag so now i have something to go on!! I too tend to do makeup when i arrive (at work or sometimes to my sis house when we get kids together for day) so its brill to have something to use as a reference......thank you again i just love and look forward to your vids xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I wish there was one palette that does all of this! I have been looking for one for years with no luck! Thanks for this video, it's fun to see the different products etc.
no one needs makeup. and believe me, in a makeup channel like this you'll find a a lot of viewers that also do it for fun and use it because we simply enjoy.
I loved this, thank you Lisa. I do my full face of makeup before I leave the house in the morning & I ALWAYS load a retractable kabuki brush with the blush I am wearing on the day & another for bronzer. The only other things I include that weren't on your list is a pair of false lashes in their case, lash glue, a mini can of hairspray, a rat tail comb & a purse size of my fave perfume (always Chanel No. 5). Believe it or not, it really isn't that much & I feel ready for anything :) Donna xx
Thank you Lisa. I have just started looking at your videos and I have to say a big 'thank you'! They are really helpful and I don't think I have looked so pretty as when started following your makeup tips! Thank you once again!
I love your videos. Every single one of them. And YES, we do want to see Keira's make-up tutorial. She looked amazing. You did a great job (yet again).
OMG I love you, I just did this last night because I always have a build up of makeup in my bag and I love to organize and I tend to overthink what I should bring, so I love your ideas about 2-1 products of essentials! JUST what I needed, I'm headed off to Ulta now to get some travel things. THANK YOU LISA!
Lisa, I would love to see what drugstore foundations you use an like. I live in the US and I can't find one that looks fresh without looking oily!! Thx! Great video btw very helpful!!!
I have sensitive combination skin and it hasn't given me any breakouts, quite the contrary, although it's a very radiant foundation it has a slight matt finish and doesn't make my face look too greasy, but I would recommend trying it on in the shop before purchasing it!!
Really useful video! The key really is adapting to what you need. For me, my skin is overall really good so I only use bb cream at home and it usually lasts throughout the day. But I have really dark under-eye circles so I need concealer a lot and I might bring more than one. By the way, I'm still hoping for a video about concealing dark under-eye circles (not just the causes and treatments, although that was super helpful too), I think it would be really useful as it's such a big battle!
I love this video..I've managed to build up a really great collection of makeup that i'm so proud of but i can never decide on the basics to put aside for everyday. Thanks.
A capsule make-up collection; I think this is a really good idea! I have so much make-up that carrying it all about would be impossible. Definitely going to sort through and pick out my 'essentials'. I've had to add the Lancome palette to my wish list!
I've started to watch your old videos and the one thing that really strikes me is how little those videos have changed. While so many other UA-camrs worked on the quality of their videos over a period of a few years yours have been super professional and high quality from the very beginning. My thoughts exactly! Lisa is such a classic. Also, I realized I skipped the ad as I do all the vids I watch on youtube, but not Lisa's so I just closed and re watched it and let the ad roll. 😆
MJ UnLimited girl, I am from 2 years in the future and agree
You’re so right, I sometimes check a posted date and it’s 4 years ago and nothing has changed! I love Lisa’s content.
MJ UnLimited I'm from the years in the future and I thought it was a new video till I saw that your comment was posted three years ago
@@altereddogma I 2nd that!! I have learned my makeup by Lisa!! Whenever I do my make up, I got compliments on how my skin looks
I just feel relieved to see something relatable and validating of my own experience.
That Rimmel blush and highlighter is BREATHTAKING, it really woke up your whole face in a fresh way! Definitely picking it up later.
Lisa...... who I was as a MUA! She is my guru! Classic, chic, just enough edge, knowledgeable, relatable, but still very classy. Just a cool chick!

A lot of modern day GURUs need to watch this video.
One does not need 55 brushes and 20 products to look good and made up. Love you Lisa xoxo

Excellent comment. Don't you just love that about her?

Good tips and great that you are adapting this pared down philosophy to suit you and your style perfectly X
This is the only chanel I watch every second and minute of a video. I don't have to fast forward. Extremely informative, thanks Lisa!
Have you done an updated version of this video?
I was going to ask if you didn't like the becca eyeshadow palettes but then I checked the date and realized they probably weren't out when you made this video. The becca palettes are my favorite I think they are so essential to me.
Lisa, please can you bring back the Lancôme brow set 😘
What a lovely comment, thank you so very much I'm touched X
oh, my.. your voice. it's the most soothing voice I've ever heard. I could just fall asleep to it, like a lullaby.

yes i personally like it x

You are absolutely beautiful without much make-up. And i simply adore to listen to your voice. It's so calming and consoling. x
thats so great to hear! Thanks for letting me know x
Great video, I've always wanted to get my handbag make-up organised because soetimes I want to touch up on an area and I haven't got anything with me. This was super helpful, love you and your videos Lisa!
I love how u use most of the the make up as you go along.
I love your videos. No matter how many times I rewatch your videos, they are still extremely useful and interesting! It doesn't hurt that you look gorgeous too!
Hey lisa, just wanna thank you for putting up so many great videos. I love your effortless and no -make up look. The tips and tricks really did enhance my confidence and makes my day better. thanks! xoxo
you are one of the only makeup artists on youtube i have legitimate respect for. keep up the good work xox
Blends well, and goes on very softly at first, and can be worked up, if need be.
this is so refreshing! i love keeping things simple and get pretty dizzy when i see how much excess make up gurus tend to have. x
It's nice to see all the different products that can be used! Love your channel!
God, I just LOVE it when you post a new video! Hurrah for Lisa!
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise ! I've learned so much from your films. Its amazing getting to connect with professionals such as yourself over UA-cam
YOU make everything look so perfect, so chic, so lovely and so easy; I really admire you!
If you find one that suits your skin well, then why not. Its just about finding what works well for you X
Really love these videos! I think I'll find a time to do a video marathon on your basic series!!! You're a savior!!
thank you so much for this i am just going through my makeup bag today and to be honest its taken over my whole handbag so now i have something to go on!!
You are by far my favorite on YT. Love everything you do.
If lots of people like it and want to see it then yes I will. It did seem popular on FB! : ) X
Believe it or not, it really isn't that much & I feel ready for anything :)

Going back through your old videos, great advice
Thank you Lisa. I have just started looking at your videos and I have to say a big 'thank you'! They are really helpful and I don't think I have looked so pretty as when started following your makeup tips! Thank you once again!
Very helpful, thank you.. I like to be organised, I hate panic and running around looking for things.. Your awesome Lisa xx
I love your videos. Every single one of them. And YES, we do want to see Keira's make-up tutorial. She looked amazing. You did a great job (yet again).
I'm always so happy to see a video from you in my subscriptions! Seriously, they're so helpful and you're so charming :D
Thx! Great video btw very helpful!!!
every time I see one of your videos pop up, I jump out of my chair in excitement, literally. I love them so much!
By the way, I'm still hoping for a video about concealing dark under-eye circles (not just the causes and treatments, although that was super helpful too), I think it would be really useful as it's such a big battle!
this is just why I love you loads Lisa, can't recall how I survived without your videos! :-)
