DIY: Make a 6Ah 24V Kobalt power tool battery. Small hack, big improvement.

  • Home made a 6Ah power tool battery from a 4Ah and a 2Ah. Not only does it last longer, it also gives you more torque. The battery is now bigger so it doesn't have to work that hard either. And finally, it doesn't have to go through as many cycles as a smaller battery so its lifespan is significantly increased. Small hack but big improvement.

Bravo. I also owned one Razor Crazy kart , the original battery just can support us 30 minutes. Impressive that, your battery still 4 bar power left after 30 minutes .

Thanks! Now I can make my two 2ah batteries into a 4ah instead of trying to sell both and get a 4ah. 😀

You should combine the Kobalt high output batteries to get a 8 or 10 ah high output battery that would be awesome too see

Or you could just buy the 6amp hr battery that's premade? But I was curious as to what is inside these batteries thanks for opening them up.

It's probably cheaper though if you buy the individual 18650 cells though and say turn a 2 or 4 AH into an 8 AH

The 6s packs are a nice voltage for sure, but in Canada, Lowe's wants a left arm for the fuckers. Too bad.

Yes, 2 amp, 4 amp, 6 amp and 8 amp.
The batteries that say "ultimate output" in yellow are the newest type of batteries 21700 cells, the other batteries that don't say that are 18650 cells 👌

Hey, I'm wondering if you know how to make the Kobalt 24-VOLT MAX Charger to run on 220V/240V? Planning to bring that to Asia with me. If I could make it run on 220V, it would be great so I don't have to use the converter. Thanks

    • @vuaeco

It would be the same thing on the Dewalt. The only thing different is the Dewalt has 5 cells whereas the Kobalt has 6 cells.

I am not an electrician or have enough knowledge in the subject but maybe you can have a huge battery sitting on the ground or floor with an umbilical cord connecting the tool and supply together. That could dramatically increase capacity and significantly reduce handling weight on the power tool. Let me know if this idea would work.
