- Make a Ryobi battery adapter to be used with other power tool batteries.
Here's the link to make the plastic Kobalt battery connector adapter: • Make a Kobalt 24V batt...
This has to be the most entertaining video about a battery ever.
Going to try this now with my old Firestorm 24v.
Your proof that you can be from anywhere and still be an oakey . Thanks for all your hard work . This benifits the oakey in all of us diy'ers . You are my hero .
oakey?
Project Farm would love to see this comparison.
Great stuff as always! I totally agree... love the huge variety of Ryobi tools but like the battery style (and usually the price) of Kobalt better!
Wedding needs a few loose 18650s and some flowers lol....
Go Ryobalt. The frankenbolt of power tools!
Did this on my Hitachi hammer drill last year, works great. Kotachi battery, lol
Did it work with just the positive and negative terminals, or was there a third terminal you had to connect as well?
@@jeffreymeeks9080 yes,just 2 wires needed
Thanks so much! Was just contemplating how to adapt my new Bauer 20v batteries to my old 18v NiCad drills. This gave me a path forward.
Apparently, Ridgid is releasing a 12ah 21700 cell battery, which will probably be a rehousing of Milwaukee's
It'll probably cost $300, but you'll get a lifetime-replacement thing so you can get "free" new ones if they go bad.
There's a Ryobi 40v (36v nominal) adapter that you can print that accepts two Ridgid 118v battery.
So, in theory, if you purchase enough batteries, you can use them on Ryobi's 80v stuff like their riding mowers since they accept 40v packs.
But Given Ridgid's history of taking centuries to release new battery stuff, you can probably expect them to release sometime in 2045.
Like the stop motion wedding.....i was reading the comments, n the guys have sent some hilarious replies, i cant beat their comments😁
Dude, I gotta get back at making videos. This is inspiring. Holy wowzers battery man!
That was cool
The beginning is the end and the end is the beginning.
And i like your beginning which i wants to see in end. LOL 🤣🤣🤣
i'm No 1 u the man
Ryobi stopped making the 24V battery - any chance you know to make a connector for the Ryobi 24V battery?
You should consider using Everbilt copper tube straps at Home Depot instead of aluminum connectors. It's only $3 for 5. Copper would be much more conductive. Also J-B Weld 8 oz. ClearWeld Pro for $16 would work great for your other projects.
Those copper tube straps have a little bump in the middle so it'll need to be hammered flat before it can be used. But sure, it looks like a good candidate for this project. Aluminum is still a very good conductor. I use aluminum because I have a lot of them and they are easy to work on.
Yes, I like free also!
Kk I'm sold I like your personality. Subscribed
cool modifications!!!!
figure you could try making a version with a stepdown buck converter assuming it can handle the discharge.
The way I did it is much easier and it works well
Awesome video. I am trying to make a power PLUG for my Macbook (old school model) 85 Watt into to carry with me instead of buying a $300 Power Bank. Ryobi sells their battery and their power adapter that accepts a grounded 3-prong plug into. Why does not Kobalt offer this? No idea. The USB adapter is very helpful, but, my laptop MUST have a 3-prong outlet. WIthout having to do what you have done here (I am great with so much...but, electricity? Noo....! Any suggestions? Thank for your time.
Dude I will love to buy one of these
Sweet hack, thanks for sharing! How many lb-ft were those lug nuts torqued to?
Let me know when you develop the Makitalt battery.
I purchased an adapter off eBay so I can use DeWalt battery on Makita, about 9 bucks, works great.
so i was wondering what is the easiest and cheapest way to get dewalt flexvolt batteries to output 24 volts. i already have 3 6ah flexvolt batteries and those 2 wire adapters are widely available but what voltage will it be outputting? I need 24 volt for a scooter motor and controls im adapting as a power feed option for my sawmill. will the battery automatically switch to 20 volt and run the motor?
Have you had any problems using the Kobalt batteries on the Ryobi tools? I'm going to try and use it on their inverter and finish gun.
Vuaeco, do you know how to charge a Ryobi 40 volt battery from a lawn mower , with a 60 volt 5 amp power supply..
Hi so you think that 56volt battery I showed you can be solar charger in my campervan.?i have 2 mppt controllers in van,one epever 10amp at front on a 100 watt panel helps run fridge and inverter plus dc to dc charger off engine .vw t4 2.5 tdi.i have 3 x 30 watt panels in parallel also supplies the renogy rover 20amp to 110ah battery .oh forgot to say there is 3 x 110Ah batteries parallel connected up front to 100 watt panel.then I thought connect the rear battery also to front banks parallel as when front 100watt panel in shade the rear panels help charge better
nice idea maybe whit a 3d print part you can make it more professional
any issues with motor life? increase in voltage results in higher rpm. not sure about higher torque tho.
What about BMS? I think Ryobi lithium ion battery has a low voltage cut off inside the battery.
That's probably what the 3rd pin is on the Kobalt stuff
@@marks47 Third pin is temperature
Almost all my tools are kobalt, then towards the end he tries his 24v ryobalt on all 175+ Ryobi tools that he owns. 😂 Lol
LOL, mate, I use it for the Ryobi tools that Kobalt does not make.
Nice video, thanks :)
Can you run a Kolbalt off 18v battery?
Do you have a rigid that attaches to a kobalt adapter?
nice work. I'm trying to find a way to go the other direction. I want to power up my hoover air vacuum. I haven't found any success. I have been running leads into the vacuum with the ryobi battery. Am I missing something? Do you think the hoover has authentication contact to disallow other battery packs from being used? If so any way around this?
Hi hello, I've tried to power my evergreen battery lawn mower using a cheaper 40v aldi ferrex activ energy but it would spin 3 seconds and then cut out. Manufacturers of these power tools want to milk is consumers as much as possible that's why every tool has a different knoch, attaching mechanism, reversed terminal points, etc, recently the now have a built in electronic hand shake communication unique to the brand so even if you supply the correct voltage etc the unit won't run, much like a password on your smartphone to stop other using it, no doubt more tool builders will add this to prevent hot wiring like our friend has done. I expect your vacuum is like that, dyson is definitely like that, if fact if you run a dyson too flat or damage a cell, even if you repair the damage cell the control module PCB has to be reprogrammed by linking it to a computer, so hacks like this are getting more and more difficult.
@@martinmuldoon603 I was able to connect my ryobi battery, by using /adding a 1 ohm resistor on the 3rd terminal (measures voltage) contact. This does cause a issue with low voltage cut off with batteries that do not have a internal lvc. Sadly I dumped the project as the ryobi battery makes it difficult to mount due to its stem. You may have better success with your battery by adding a resistor. But in your case the resistance may differ.
What other tools can you use the cobalt on?
This is extreme...😳😳😳 (i mean the weird wedding)...
If you follow this channel, you'll soon realize this is just another day at work, nothing out of the ordinary. :D
Dude, why did you sacrifice a Ryobi LiIon when you had the case from a NiCd?
Excellent video nonetheless.
I had an explanation for that but I realized the video is already 24 minutes long so I saved it for next time. :D
@@vuaeco Oh man, I can't wait!
Great video..I have a battery no charger it has 5 pin slot...snap on cordless 3/8 wrench any help to charge it thank you have a blessed day and be blessed
Please, I got a Kobalt 24v drill from a friend but without battery. I couldn't get the battery locally in my country and expensive to buy abroad. Anyone know how I can trick the middle sense pin and power the drill with 2 power wires?
Thanks.
Add a 10K ohm register between T and -
Did you actually use this long term and see if it tried the tools?
It's been over 2 years and nothing has fried yet. Heck, some people already fried their tools by now even with original Ryobi batteries! :D
Brilliant idea. I was thinking for some time to make something similar as I have 4 different brand names for tools. What is the wire gauge you used for the adapter?
Wire is size 14 AWG. Size 12 would have been better but 14 works fine for what I'm using.
vuaeco thanks for replying
hi I'm trying charge that 56volt lithium battery with my dork charger an power supply.but doesn't seem to work.drok can go up to 60v plus I think
Test the voltage output of your power supply. Also, try and connect your power supply to a "Kill-A-Watt" to see if it would consume any power? If it does, it's charging. Or just touch your charger after you plug it in for 10-15 minutes. It should get warm. If not, it's not charging.
@@vuaeco I've charged it with 54v bike charger for now.will test power supply soon.just been in Cornwall on holiday with Boris drone ,mavic air
I must say this is a brilliant approach using materials on hand I have a similar problem finding a battery for my Ryobi 24 volt Grass trimmer it has a horizontal sliding battery much like the Kobalt I do not know if it fits or if there's a conversion for the 24 volt Ryobi .is there anyone that could assist me on.
Are you still looking for this? I'm aware of a solution if you're interested
How many batteries were there
I guess we need to see what 28 volt can do on these tools
lol you have a lot of batteries
Kobayobi
Repped just for the intro
So you using a 24v battery on a 18v drill will kill the drill with time don’t you think 🤔
Like I said, I'll update with you guys later on. We'll see.
@@vuaeco can you help me with an issue I'm having with my eb5 bike

Don’t need the wood !

Ahhahahahahaha Epic
You probably ought to learn a little bit more about the electricity before you start doing this type of thing, but since you have ... Every mass produced electrical motor is under-volted by design. No company wants to be the one who's vacuum cleaners blenders or tools start catching fire in someone's home. And about 18 volt and 20 volt Max batteries they are exactly the same not pretty much exactly both are nominal 18.5 vdc and are made up of strings of 5 nmc lithium cells wired in series. They are exactly the same. A 24 volt battery has 6bcells and 36 volt and 40v Max have 10, etc. Of course if you really are concerned and you should be because you might catch your shit on fire, you can always lower the voltage by adding some resistance of course it will create heat that you have to dissipate or you might catch yourself on fire. Anyway come on man get a brilliance subscription or something and learn about what you are doing.
