  • This video explains clearly how to rebuild the inner door frame or panel on a car. Often, this part of the door bottom must be replaced before the outer in the rust repair process.

Thanks, Jerry. Yes, would really like to see a vid on your twist/zap weld technique as opposed to the straight spot weld. Thanks again!

Great work Jerry. There's probably no shortage of rusted lower door panels that need repairs in Michigan. Thanks for making the video.

Cant find shops these days that do this kinda work. It's all full panel replacements now. The shop I worked at didn't do rust repair

You're right - they turn it down or give an estimate so high that the people get discouraged, and sell the car.

Apply seam sealer to bare metal vs primed metal.. is one way better than the other? I would thought applying it over the top of primer would make the most sense.. but im just a hobbyist

Over primer or paint is recommended by most brands. Good ? and good debate topic :)

I've been watching your videos for a few months now. I've noticed that you always twist your hand before stoping the weld, is this for a bigger weld or to keep the wire from sticking. Im new to mig welding. Last time I did weld was in high school, in 1977. Thanks for the video enjoyed it.

    • @LakesideAutobody

It sort of elongates the weld to stretch it or make it some what of a stitch. Thanks for watching - if you have any more ?s feel free to ask - Jerry

@LakesideAutobody I can't say it totally wrong or very bad. But I think you love putty too much :) This "fix" should be made more accurately with only metal work and welding..
Not only in this video, I've seen your other videos. For example repair of door of citroen ami.. You filled up a grand canyon with a putty :):):)
