Planning on modifying your bike, mufflers, intake, possibly a cam? Then a fuel injection controller of some sort should be in your future.

Iv'e been riding bikes for a long time (not done yet) and I'm still learning, Thanks
These are great tips!!!!
Good info👍
I just bought a bike with a full tuner, but I believe it was tune b4 the baffles were taken out. It's popping and backfiring when I let off the gas, when I get on it it gets great exclamation. Not sure if I should increase or decrease. Thanks hope you have some advice
125cc Honda Varadero with Delkevic 350mm end but also front section needs replacing too as rusted (blowing) so replacing with standard pipe. Do I need to ?
My 2002 FLSTC has a CV-40 carburetor and it didn't want to idle. I changed out my low speed jet from a factory 45 to a 50 and the high speed jet from a 180 to a 190 and that helped. My 1972 FLH runs way better than this FLSTC I sold my 2001 FLHRCI Road King with fuel injection it started real easy and didn't stall out like the FLSTC did.
Not knowing anything about fuel injection controller and maps, how would I know how to properly choose the correct setting?
What about my warranty ? Will it be voided if they have to plug it in their computer to do a reading ?
Curious about this too.
Your warranty will depend entirely on your dealer. Keep in mind it is in their best interest to sell you their "flash" tune even if it isn't the best option for your bike. Also tuners like an FP3 save your stock tune and it can be re-loaded into the bike.
I am looking at the option of eliminating my O2 sensors because with the drag pipes I have on my 2008 883 Harley Sportster. The rear O2 sensor is interfering with the positive terminal of the starter.
Do I NEED a tuner if I eliminate the O2 sensors.
Yes. It will run better anyways.
Jimmy_Jim_ Jim_1234 How do you come to that conclusion, and are we talking with the tuner or by itself.
You can remove the 02 sensors but it may throw a code. The bike probably won't be in as good of a state of tune without them but its not a deal breaker.
J&P Cycles The FP3 seems to be popular. If I go with that and no O2 sensors. Would that do the trick.
You should advise folks who have a bike under factory warranty that using any kind of tuner other than the Harley tuner. It will void the powertrain warranty.
That's not necessarily true, it's up to the dealer you work with. Also, we're not exactly in the business of leaving bikes stock, we're about improving them.

As soon as the dealer connects their Digital Tech to the bike, info is transferred and it will tell Harley if the ECU has been tampered with. So if any powertrain issues develop, Harley will look at that info first. Even if they would, the dealer can't hide the info from Harley.
So pay 10k to 30k for a bike then have to pay more for a fuel controller..... Even without a stage one.... Its all cos of EU emissions bollocks
