    Nice video. I have this exact blower and I’ve gotten blisters on my fingers (on more than one occasion) from pullin’ that cord for hard starts. I tore mine all the way down and cleaned the buildup around the piton ring. Put it all back together and at least it starts.. when it wants to.

    That black oil draining out tells me there must have been nothing but sludge in the bottom of that crankcase. Poor mistreated mower! I hang onto used oil just for topping up depleted machines like this so I don’t waste new oil. Run it hot, drain and fill with the good stuff. 🔧👍

  • @Rein_Ciarfella

    Nice! I’d probably price that one at around $150-175, so it was definitely worthwhile to give it a second life (hopefully to be treated better!).

    I believe that the drive gears are labeled/stamped right and left to help get them on correctly. I also like to put a little oil in the drive axle trans and wheel bearing when I have the machine on its side. As for value, in my market (Chicagoland) the Toro would sell for at least $150.00. Good video.

    Nice older video! I’m surprised the gaskets didn’t cause a vacuum leak and give you trouble, they looked pretty squashed. I used to dislike working on Honda GCV carbs but I’ve done so many that now I kinda like them. Too bad they’re not making them anymore, but there will still be plenty of old mowers like this around to tinker with lol!

    Terrible video and explanation. Get a fork seal driver and nobody cares you’re going to bike week. Next time show the camera the parts so we can see the direction and order of operation. Trash

  • @chrisw2002
    @chrisw2002 19 днів тому

    Not sure why people in the comments are applauding you. Maybe they’re just being nice. For the reassembly, why couldn’t you have shown the camera first which parts you were installing? That way we the viewer could see the direction and order of the parts. Instead you have a half ass view of the fork where you quickly throw the parts down.

    I’ve owned my 06 rancher for 18 years. Always took good care of it. It sat for 6 years. I never started it. Fuel was all drained out of it before I stored it. Got it out in 22, took a fathers and sons trip with a buddy of mine we use to do taking our sons when they were little. It started smoking badly near the end of that quad camping trip. Came home, shoved it back in the barn until 2 weeks ago. I just rehoned the cylinder, new rings, valve guide seals, lapped the valves anyways even though I didn’t think they needed it. Started it up for the first time last night. It smoked at first from oil coating I had on cylinder wall for the first ten mins. It finally stopped. Im gonna test drive it this evening for 30 mins to see how it goes.

Just about due to do my 09 top end currently at 330 hours and this will be my fourth piston i'm hoping the rod is still within spec and i will check the cam chain tensioner for remaining travel using your method. Nice job straightening that bent crankshaft, Greg! When diagnosing crank no starts I always spray some 2-stroke fuel into the intake first. If it fires that eliminates 4 of the 5 requirements to run right off the bat (air, compression, timing, spark). The only thing left is fuel, which is at least 90% of the issues with no starts. Saves time and effort, plus if you don’t know how long an engine has been sitting, then adding a little oil into the cylinder is a good idea anyway.
