    Hey brother the carb cleaner you sprayed down the fuel nipple with swell or break down the needle seat or the needle tip as well. Do not spray that in anything during cleaning until all rubber and gaskets are removed. This is why we use ultrasonic cleaners with solvents that are gentle on rubbers and gaskets. Simple green or mean green is great. The fuel solenoid you need the be careful with as well there about $100 or close to. We never turn on the body so not to spin the two half’s of the body and brake connection’s inside the solenoid. You need a 1/2 and 7/16 wrench and grind them down so there skinny almost like a grinder nut tool.
    The Kawisaki carbs for the most part except for the FH engines have full rebuild kits that includes the Welch plugs for a proper cleaning.

    great information! My lawnmower wouldn't start, primed the carb. with gas and it would run as long as it had the gas I primed it with. I watched this video thinking the float was stuck in the up position. You showed me how to remove the sediment bowl, when I did that I found there was gas in the bowl. so I pushed down on the gas shut-off needle and it moved hard so I moved it by hand a few times then reattached the wires and operated the day a few times, the needle moved as it should. Reconnected it to the sediment bowl , mower started right up!!!! Thank you!

    Can Confirm. Ebay/amazon $20 Carbs are junk. For $20 I figured I would try it... big trash. It would run... but barely. Too much throttle and it would cut, to little throttle and it would cut. When you found the perfect level of gas, it would just barely move and barely cut grass. Cleaning the old one now, hopefully clears it up.
    Before cheap carb, mower was shooting gas out of the exhaust and wouldn't run for more than 10 seconds or so. Flushed oil, and put the cheap carb on and no more gas out of the exhaust but runs like 💩. Fingers crossed this fixes it

    It's amazing how some say the kawasaki engine is the best..well here's reality the least seen engine in any small engine repair shop is the Kohler 7000 series..it's not kawasaki it's not Honda it's not Briggs & Stratton..it's the Kohler 7000 series Engine it also comes with a 3 year unlimited hours warranty..so don't take my word for it research yourself..

    Thank you Mower Mike,
    You once again helped de-mystify the how to of working on yet another fun project. One question I have in regard to robbing the gaskets from an inexpensive foreign carburetor is as follows: Will a foreign bowl fit on an original carburetor. Also, the jet will not unscrew from the original carburetor. I’m thinking that’s not a problem if I am able to blow through it as you show in your video. Any comment would be helpful.
    Thank you, Craig

      Yep I swap bowls and jets all the time between stock and cheap Amazon carbs.
      As far as the jet as long as u get it clean u are good. They get froozen up in there

    I have a 2019 Scag 48" walkbehind, SWZT48-541FS, Kawasaki FS541V. Pull-cord. I open the choke. When I try to start it, it will NOT start. However, if I add 1 teaspoon of fuel into carburetor, it fires/starts. After engine has been running a short while, it will restart withOUT adding fuel directly into the carburetor. I have been doing this for 1-year. Why does it need to be manually primed to start? What can I do to resolve this issue? Thank you!

      @@MowerMike Yes, the first thing I did was have an Ultrasonic cleaning of the carburetor at my Scag dealer. Also, changed fuel filter. Those resulted in no improvement. Someone suggested fuel pump may be the issue. I will investigate. Thanks.

    • @69bigwahoo
      @69bigwahoo 7 місяців тому

      Sounds like fuel pump not pumping or cracked hoses going to fuel pump not drawing a vacuum

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  6 місяців тому

      @@indyprostringers2051 I would take the carb off and manually clean it and make sure the jets are clean. Just doing The ultrasonic is not how you clean a carb.

    I tried this job. Went well until I couldn't get the jet unthreaded out of the body. It seems the threads are in bad shape and I have stripped the top of the jet trying. Any suggestions???

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  3 місяці тому

      I would try and clean it with the jet still in there. Get a small wire or a carb cleaning kit and jam it up in there and then spray carb cleaner through the jet. You can do it without removing the jet. I have been there it sucks when that little brass slot strips but I bet you can make it work.
      Worse case order a new carb on Amazon for $40.

      @@MowerMike You got me pretty spooked about those Amazon Carbs. You said that the gaskets on them leak a lot. I really dont see many gaskets on the thing. What typically goes wrong with those cheap Carbs?

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  3 місяці тому

      @@grueneriverguesthouse1886 They can be jetted wrong or leak. I would try and fix the stock carb first and if that doesn’t work try an Amazon carb.
