OLD SCHOOL FRIED PIG 🐖 FEET

- This is one of those recipes that either you love it or don’t
I absolutely love everything about the pig 🐖
I was raised eating every part of the pig from the rooter to the tooter
We didn’t waste anything at all
So this is a simple easy recipe for fried pig feet
2# pig feet (whole or split)
2 quarts water
salt and pepper
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup white corn meal
vegetable oil
place pig feet in large pot
fill with water and salt and pepper
simmer for 3 hours or until completely tender
remove from pot and let drain slightly
season with your favorite seasonings( granulated garlic ,old school soul food shake)
dredge with all purpose flour, corn meal
fry in hot oil in skillet until golden brown and crispy(5 minutes on each side)
Make sure If you make this pig's feet recipe to FULLY cook the pig feet first so that your pig feet are tender. When deep-frying the pig feet only do It for 12 to 13 min for a whole pig foot or until crispy, for split pig feet only cook for about 8 min or until crispy.
Never did the pigs feet in an air fryer but you can, also you can put it in the oven on a rack and sheet pan but you will have to cook it for a longer period.

This is “true country food”, I grew up on fried pig feet, pig feet cooked in white beans, pig ear sandwiches, smoked pig tails, pig tails in cabbage. My Dads theory was simple, “It’s what we have for dinner, eat or don’t eat at all”. These with a pot of greens, some Pot Liquor in a cup with pinto beans and cornbread, that’s a meal. Dad always said, “If you go home hungry, its your own fault.”

I LOVE "EM! Chicana from Los Angeles, when younger my Mom and Grandmother made this on Sunday's when we drove out to our rancho. They made a salsa and poured that sauce over the fried pig feet, along with Spanish style rice and beans, 'n homemade flour tortillas. Roll that pig foot in your flour tortilla, Mmmm mmmmm mmmm! That was some good eating ❤.
AND, no, this is not garbage food! It is Chicano Soul Food.
Thank you for sharing.

I love crackling cornbread, haven't had any since 1995.
@@dorothyknight8751 I've not had any since 1985. Papa died & nobody else raised hogs in our family. He had the best hams. They'd hang in the corn crib. Precious memories.
@@janetholderby974 My Dad raised hogs and we had a smoke house where cured pork shoulders and bacon. He die in 1991 and mom died in 1995. She cook all kinds of cakes and pies from scratch. Those memories you don't forget. We have good times and good memories with good eating 😊😊😊
