Alexandra, I come to your channel to feel a lift in my mood. When I feel overwhelmed by what's happening in the world I come to your channel. I love the music in the beginning. It's very uplifting. Thank you!!! Don't let ANYONE, not even yourself, tell you that you are not a good designer. And you and your crew are sooo funny. Love ya'll.
From drab to fab! Now this is a space to enjoy coming home to and inviting friends over any time. The gallery wall is a winner! This makeover has so many good ideas for small spaces.
Love, love what you did to this space. I’m enjoying your makeovers and how we see the process from start to finish. So many channels are hardly doing these kind of makeovers anymore. Please keep it up!
This is one of my FAV studio fixes!! Super cozy and very finished. The large size art pieces and rug are a good scale for the space. The curtains are really elegant. Love that you gave her so much extra storage. As a plant lover, I'm glad that you got a faux fiddle leaf fig considering it would not have gotten enough light where it was placed.
Sadly, as much as I hate faux plants and adore a fiddle leaf fig they ARE indeed finicky about their light and water and it is so nice to have a touch of beautiful greenery in the room. There ARE times to make an exception to one's preferences. The faux fig is perfect there and really adds a lot! Just like the wall color. White would not have looked as cozy and inviting as that yellow shade of beige (maize?) does. The result is stunning!
Stunning!! A drop down table which hangs flat when not in use under the kitchen window would be cool. With a couple of small barstools would be a cute dining space
it's so good to see you not just work around the beige but work with it. It's so challenging especially when it's not at all a wall colour you'd gravitate towards if you had the choice. It isn't a colour that I personally love, but I love what you did with it, I really do. I honestly think it wouldn't look as good with cold white walls. I think the only way to truly be happy with renter beige like that is if you embrace it when choosing the rest of what has to go with it. If you just ignore it and pretend it isn't they're, it will always look out of place instead of something that actually looks good and cohesive. And you absolutely nailed that.
Love all the warm tones together! And that headboard is stunning. Side note: Anyone else always scroll to the bottom of the comments on Alexandra's videos ready to fight any mean commenters? She gets so many unnecessarily mean/rude comments compared to others I watch. Alexandra is a gem.
I absolutely LOVE that headboard.. and I think you did a fantastic job!!! ----> HOWEVER: as someone who spends 12+ hours a day at a computer, it's awful watching you remove ERGONOMIC chairs (that are good for the health if you have to sit a lot) with chairs that are good for people who only sit at their computer for 20 mins at a time. It's unrealistic and ergonomics should never be messed with.
Well Really, that new chair can also sear customers and the ergo one will also work if needed for long hours as she introduced enough black in the room to make it work !!! All in All, total Outcome is Marvelously done and thought out Perfectly... As one who needs ergo office chairs and am into decorating as well I Give this A Total A+++ Think she even thought about the extra ero Chair but for the reveal it needed cemetry & even in a Studio redo extra chairs are always needed when entertaining.. 👍👍👍👍 Great Job 🎯🎯💯✔️🥰
I think she will go back to her black chair, I thought the same thing too. What's nice is when there are people over she can use the new chair and put the black one in the closet or use it too depending on how many people are over. The new chair really helped stage the place though.
Every studio makeover I've seen only chooses a chair based on the look. So, it's hard to picture which and how a good ergonomic chair will look in a studio when I move.
Pretty sure this is my favorite makeover of yours yet! To go from a totally blank slate & make her apt so homey & just beautiful!! And the renters beige - love that it was embraced & really shown as it’s best version of itself. 😂😍
I like makeovers like this where there's some kind of constraint (such as wall colour) that has to be worked with. Makes it interesting to see what solutions are found.
Thank you for the zip tie trick. I just bought a wooden frame thinking I could attach it to my old headboard. It did not, but I saw this and immediately said, "Hey babe! Alexandra Gater just said she zip tied a headboard to a bed frame!"
I think with wood, I'd think about screwing it in. If you want something permanent and sturdy. Here it's metal - so not that easy to drill, but also less easy to cover up (maybe with little plastic plugs?)
The decorating choices are so beautiful using the wall color as a starting point. The colors and textures and lighting give off a warm, calm, and very cozy feeling. Your videos are so inspiring and helpful. Enjoying my coffee and your video on Saturday morning in San Diego.
Hi, love your makeovers. I wish I had known about your channel a yew years back , when I moved in Bordeaux France, could have used some of your tips for decorating. Here , studio appartements are really small. I lived in a 20 m2 (~215 sqft) appartement for 5 years. And it was a steel deal because it had electrical heating, no mold, new windows and no rats. I tip for you: I too used ikea packs for shoes but I hot glued a piece of wood ( ironically found it in the woods) on top. P.S sorry for any grammaire erros. English is my 5 language.
I'm speechless Alexandra!! At first I really didn't like the layout you went for and I thought the color was to vomit lol. But you made it into a cozy inviting modern boho calm BEAUTIFUL space! And now I want it toooo! 😍😍😍😭💕❤️ I feel like this is eithe the one or one of the best makeovers you did! It's certainly my Favorit favorite
I have that West Elm coffee table that raises up in my studio apartment and it’s SO GOOD. Not only does it function as a dining table or desk when I need it, but having the storage inside was key. I added casters to the legs so I could wheel it out of the way when I bring my bed out (I have the Tandem Sleeper sofa from CB2)!
Loved this makeover! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m dealing with renter beige right now and just got a warm rust couch-what a game changer. Starting to realize paired with the right colors it can feel so cozy. Thanks for the inspo!
This was really nice to see just making the best of what is already there. As much as I love seeing spaces being repainted to bring new life, I don't think I would do it for time and money sake. I would love to see more makeovers like this
Something I did as a room divider in a small space was get one of those rolling closet rods, hang all my viney plants from the rod & put a shelf on the bottom for bottom plants and it creates a rolling wall of greenery that can be easily moved around to divide spaces plus it’s not full coverage you can still get peaks through to the other side!
This is one of the best ones yet! Don't get stirred up about the negative comments. People are envious of your talent...continue to do your best and 😃 smile!
THIS! Definitely one of my faves! Would some macrame been too much or too obvious? Anywho, I imagine James is behind all the hilarious & on point cameo vid slices (here: Gaga)… James, do you keep a massive collection of drama snippets in a folder or do you go searching for the perfect one each time? Or are they stored in that fun head of yours? They are always a massive add to the vids - good on you!
Okay Alexandra!🤯 I have to stop everything to not interrupting your videos. I save them and view several times. Some day I wish you could help when I move into my next apartment. Thank you for your videos.
Beautiful makeover. What I like too is that because you moved her desk to the opposite wall, She could use it for her eating space because her kitchen looked really tiny. Love the warm colors. You truly made a home for her. The room divider could be used across her kitchen door for when she goes to bed.
I didn't think it was going to work because it was too masculine but no, it's beautiful! You know what you're doing - I've started watching more of your vids - I'm moving into a studio and need ideas! This one is beautiful.
STUNNING!!!!!!!!!! The space looked so large after the makeover! The headboard is like something out of Lord of the Rings and that couch looked so comfy
Most hated color turned to a beautiful unique abode! I thought it was a mistake eliminating the screen, but that headboard deserved to be seen! Blessed and safe days!
Wow, that large rug and fabulous couch, plus the headboard . . . soooo goood. Everything looks great. I am so glad you are doing small space make overs. Love these. They were a favorite thing of mine during the pandemic; I think you were doing more work spaces then, but I just love a good, made over space!
This was really beautifully done. Brava, team! I’m getting the feeling that moving in with stuff that doesn’t work for your smaller space is just as awkward as moving in with no stuff at all. You have that unique design ability to know what can work, which is where so many of us get stuck. .
The color palette and all of the rattans are stunning. Such a boho vide and makes me love the wall color so much!! Looks like you chose it for the design. Well done!
Ahh so excited you're doing an ep where you leave the renter beige walls! I know they're not typically seen as stylish, but I'm not allowed to paint my walls either so it's super helpful to see how spaces can be successfully styled with beige walls. The final product looks so cozy and you guys did a great job
I’ve heard that the light beige is replacing the grays as a new neutral, especially in Japandi and cozy minimalism styles. This apt is beautiful. I love the awesome headboard and that coffee table.
Those doors to the left of the front door would be a great place for Wayfair's new secret passage bookcases. They are doors that look like a bookcase. You could use those as a starting point and custom the rest of the wall so it looks like just a big wall of shelves. That would be awesome!
I LOVE watching you, Alexandra, you have the face of an 18 month old. Reminds me of when my children were little and everything was joyful. You're also a pretty good decorator.
One of my favorite makeovers you've done! I was really hoping you were going to pop a piece of light wood on top of the Ikea shoe cabinets to tie in with the rest of the wood accents and make it looks less Ikea, but still love it all!
Hanging netting around the bed is nice, the netting can be hung to hang halfway down from the ceiling. We hung beads around my daughter's bed and I've seen a curtain that's on a track in the ceiling running the length of the bed that she could leave open or close. Using command hooks to hang the rod is renter friendly.
I loved that you also brought in black and a darker brown to break up the different beiges and light browns! Also, the round cushion on the bed??? So cute!
My absolute favorite yet! I really disliked the wall color, but after you finished, I didn't even notice it. Fabulous job! I'm going to try and incorporate some of your ideas in my study--if I can! (And you are always such a bright light!)
I actually like the wall color-looks more like caramel or latte than beige. I love all the warm colors & textures you filled it with. I could live there!
Love iiiiiiit. I did not think I could love beige, but all that rattan and the picture frames and the black details really made it warm and cozy and lovely. AND THAT HEADBOARD!
Love the dark touches in this space, and your other coffee table suggestion which can be used for dining. I love that you needed to work with renter beige, I think it made you more creative! Love studio fix. More like this please :)
Lovely! Such a good job working with the constraints of the space - you turned it from empty and a bit sad to warm, welcoming, textural and full of comfort... and super attractive, too.
Would love to see how you style carpeted floors. I live in a rental with beige carpet and it’s been challenging to select the right rug for it… Also, would love to see families being featured in this series! My husband and I are expecting next month and living in a one bedroom (less than 500 sq ft)
Stunning before and after! ! love everything about this makeover (except the placement of the bed! Just for me, I don't want to wake up and see right into my Kitchen!) Net/tulle curtain (from IKEA) as a divider? I'm already looking up the headboard, linens and side table basket thing! Amazing transformation!
I understand what you mean, but if she had placed the bed anywhere else people would’ve probably complained that it’s too close to the door, that the bed is in the middle of the living space… I don’t think that there would’ve been a “perfect” placement for it in the studio
@@notjustirene4302 I would love it if gater and co would go through their floor plans decisions. I ways struggle with it and would love to know their procy!
I am the same. I have been in studio apartments for almost a decade and looking at a kitchen from bed is no bueno for me. However, I think blocking that doorway with a tension rod and a cute curtain would easily solve that problem if it bothers her.
A great way to divide the room is linnen curtains hanged from an ikea seiling rail, its super smooth and you can open the space when needed and completly close it up when u have guests
Yeah, but then she'd also would need to move the bed away from the window so it makes sense. I honestly don't mind it here needs no divide. Maybe a small plush bench on the side of the bed towards the sofa instead.
Nailed it! Definitely getting a comment compliment. This is my favorite style with the rattan and blacks, neutrals, and textures. Very BOHO and I'm here for it.
I'm awed! 😲😱 Stunning final result 😍 I love this series and had missed it a lot. It's so cool to see the magic changing people's lives. You're a miracle, team AG! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
WOW!! It's a completely different apartment now. I'm speechless. Super cute, chic, and cozy! I think I had to go back like another 4 times to rewatch the reveal till the end of the video.
I have a coffee table from Amazon that lifts high enough to eat like at a table with chairs or on the couch and also opens from rectangle to a square to fit more people on the now table. I feel like it would fit in many small spaces that need furniture to double their function.
I agree with you! Not that I'm old lol (33 yrs) but back when I was growing up I remember it being the opposite - stark white in every rental and the walls could get dirty easily and just weren't easy on the eyes or at least that's how I felt at the time. I was actually excited when more places started making something in the beige color range more standard.
Well to you all who hate beige, I have a beige kitchen in one of my rentals. It's more like vanilla actually. It came with the fake light wood formica countertops. So I painted the cabinets moss green. I put in like this tan grass cloth type wallpaper as backsplash. And a couple times I styled it up, I used dark apple red accents, like red cotton rugs and dishcloths. Also some red and white checkerboard stuff too. With accent lighting on, it looks very cozy there. Like warm and gold.
As a person who has lived with white walls for a number of years, I find the renters beige a cozy relief.
Fantastic makeover! I am 74 years old. I love your channel & truth be told I could live in this space. Awesome job!
The mix of wicker and black metal ♥️, it’s a special place that actually feels like a home instead of a dorm room.
That carpet did half the work! Such a great choice to get a huge carpet. It really grounded the space and made it a whole new room!

Omg-Same. I'm in my depress stage and her channel is literally giving me life that I can't even explain.

I am the same. I have been in studio apartments for almost a decade and looking at a kitchen from bed is no bueno for me. However, I think blocking that doorway with a tension rod and a cute curtain would easily solve that problem if it bothers her.
One of the biggest transformations of the channel!!! Loved it! The gallery wall is bomb

Finally found a person that has a sense if decor & realistic!
The suite feels absolutely beautiful - colors, furnishings, decor. I love it all.
Was very skeptical throughout the process was expecting boring, but I am impressed looks minimalist, cozy, and classy. Great job!
inderpreet, what a gorgeous name.
WOW!! It's a completely different apartment now. I'm speechless. Super cute, chic, and cozy! I think I had to go back like another 4 times to rewatch the reveal till the end of the video.
Loved the design. Especially the headboard the wall art. Good job
I have a coffee table from Amazon that lifts high enough to eat like at a table with chairs or on the couch and also opens from rectangle to a square to fit more people on the now table. I feel like it would fit in many small spaces that need furniture to double their function.
I don't mind renters beige; it's a warm neutral! This was a beautiful transformation.
Beautiful space!
I can NOT believe what you did with that little room. It's amazing!
woooow amazing job!!!! You made that wall colour look soo trendy and meld with all the decor. It looks SOO GOOD.
Alexandra Gater is the best out there.
A 10, better and better.
