Everyone knows that bloodlusted ogres beat knights hard. What I wanted to see though (since it looked like a script to cast BL automatically) was how Paladins would fare if there was some sort of automatic casting of heal. Would make for a lot more interesting and unpredictable results.
If it is anything like the AI in Warcraft 2, Paladins cast heal every time they have enough mana to do so. They will waste an attack to heal 2 damage to something. They might be better off just being knights.
@@ragnarok1er840 the way bloodlust is calculated, it doubles both base damage and upgrade damage. Since armour values are flat, you get a huge percentage damage increase when you increase the base damage with bloodlust, up to 3 times as much damage dealt by an ogre compared to the damage done by a knight. Plus its always advantageous to have fewer but stronger units in a large battle, because you will have a higher percentage of the ogres taking part in combat vs the knights who cant use their numerical advantage because there just isnt enough room to fit them all. All in all, ogres outtrade knights tremendously hard, and this is one of the big design flaws of Warcraft 2.

It was surprising how close so many of them were, though with the final battle once I saw that horde I knew there was no chance for the alliance. Great vid!
Another fantastic AI gladiator arena. Bloodlust actually triples Ogre damage. It doubles the normal attack and piercing damage changing ogre max damage from 8 to 24.
You're right! The attack power is doubled, but as you say the actual damage can be tripled (or even more in some cases!), which happens because of the enemy's armor. Say (simplified) ogres do 16 damage and knights have 8 armor. Then they do 16-8 = 8 damage. With bloodlust, they do 32-8 = 24 damage, three times as much!
I'm a starcraft player and I used to play War 1 and war 2 as a kid. They should made High Templars an attack like Mages. Also blood lust is too op and that's why nobody plays humans. If heal was automatic like medics then maybe, but it's too hard to use humans and actually heal. It's cool to see all the inspiration taken from Warcraft 2 into Starcraft. Literally everything in Starcraft is based off of warcraft2. Sappers are infested Terrans, Mages are high templars... Footmen are like zealots, etc. I'm a huge RTS fan.
A lot of Orc's power also comes from ogres being easier to control than mages at the Fastest speed setting. On lower speeds, Humans might be closer to Orcs in power because mages can arguably be better than DKs.
@@StuGames What's the main difference between death knights and mages? Seems to me like they have the same abilities , no? Yeah but noone plays on slow settings lol. The Destroyers and Gryphons seemed like an interesting match, and trying to think 'realistically' about it, i would think that the Destroyers would outperform the Gryphons eventually, but yeah, reality has nothing to do with this. That's a first class demonstration in how to not make a fortress with humans. No paladins with exorcism and no mages with blizzard. Instead, have a bunch of tightly packed ballistae that will shoot your own units, with towers that can be easily taken out by death and decay. Also make sure that your footmen are walled in so they get no surface area, and are just standing still uselessly for the majority of the battle. The fortress sure looked impressive, but man was it vulnerable to death and decay. :p
I think for the bigger battles you need to increase the size of the arena, otherwise the differences in unit numbers don’t make any difference. There’s just a line of twenty units down the screen and everyone is just standing around behind it.

Against buildings, it is even times 3 if you can do the math.
Nice to see a fight club on one of the games from my childhood)
For future ideas: heroes duels and comparisons with groups of normal units might be interesting
Best video ever, a rug from brazil
This is great. I'm subscribing.
Oh Bloodlust you were so utterly broken
So broken that in the sequel not only was the spell nerfed, but ogres were removed from the horde and made into permanent bad guys
Someone at Blizzard must have a deep hatred for ogres, as they're still not a playable race in WoW... yet things like pandas are.😂
@@StuGames There's not much that would make me want to go back to WoW, but Ogres and Tinkers are two things that'd be tempting. They'll never do either of them, instead they gotta keep going to the Furry Mines.
I had forgotten all about it. That Healing spell ain’t going to save your Paladins.
I couldn't make a prediction on the final fight, I was just in awe
That's a first class demonstration in how to not make a fortress with humans. No paladins with exorcism and no mages with blizzard. Instead, have a bunch of tightly packed ballistae that will shoot your own units, with towers that can be easily taken out by death and decay. Also make sure that your footmen are walled in so they get no surface area, and are just standing still uselessly for the majority of the battle.
The fortress sure looked impressive, but man was it vulnerable to death and decay. :p
I thought that first orc that got through was gonna give em the business
I think for the bigger battles you need to increase the size of the arena, otherwise the differences in unit numbers don’t make any difference. There’s just a line of twenty units down the screen and everyone is just standing around behind it.
