I would never have guessed that the foam could transfer texture that well! That's incredible. Even learning that, my favorite thing was seeing the twist in the clay from bellying out. It happens every time, and it's just 'invisible'. Love love love that concept. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah!!! Thanks so much Em. It was so fun challenge to see what textures I could make with things I already had in the studio. I was also surprised at the craft foam idea. it was under my nose all this time and i didnt know it, haha. Thanks for watching Em!
It’s awesome that you can use those foam sheets to create such wonderful designs, supplementing them with your own talented, drawing and glazing techniques! I am in awe of the many ways you can create beauty on clay! Thanks for the clever video!
Hey Sharon!! Thanks so much!! Yes, I was just playing around with that but really didnt think that the textures on the craft foam would work. I was surprised at how much detail I could get from that. ...thanks so much for all your support. 🙂🥰😍🤩😍🥰
I think the dotted texture works great for accomplishing a good strawberry texture. Also, with the yellow color is like we're watching the bee from inside the flower 😄 Thanks for the ideas!
Hey Ana! I tnk you are so right about the not only the strawberry, (which I hadnt thought about before) but also the bee inside the flower. I was thinking the same thing like the yellow with the dots looked like the head of a sunflower, right. Thanks for posting. Happy potting to you.
Oh my goodness Ann! These texture techniques are absolutely great. I love every single one of the techniques. I can't say that I like one better than the other. I'm going to try all of these techniques. Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas and help you have given.
Hahahahaha!!!! Jim likes to put things in the video that are a bit subtle to see if anyone is really paying attention. I laughed at that too. You have good eyes ...and a good sense of humor, I see, haha. Thanks for watching!!! Happy potting
Dont give up! Hopefully there is a community studio nearby that you can work in. Also, you can do a lot at home or in an apartment in a small space doing handbuilding projects and/or using air dry clay etc!
All of these are great, but the stocking!!!🤩 the one with the underglaze looks gorgeous! Now I’m thinking same technique on flat surface using an oignon bag or clementine crate tops 😆
No way! I love these ideas! I was just thinking about using my Cricut to cut some stamps for underglaze painting and then you show me this! You guys are brilliant!❤️❤️❤️
that is so nice of you Jodie. thanks. Glad I could give a little inspiration. Funny you should mention the Cricut. I have been researching those cutting machines but havent pulled the trigger on them yet. Good luck with your pottery.
Hi Carol! Thanks so much. I love lines and the rubber bands are perfect for getting the perfect width if lines arent they. i wish I could see your scallop motif with the paper clip. That sounds really interesting. Good luck with your pottery Carol.
Wow Ann….you are the master of textures! Love it. That vase with the fish net stocking texture is awesome!! And the craft foam…wow, so many things could be done using that 😊😊❤
Thanks Candy!! that is so nice of you. Yes, after we finished the video, I was coming up with more things to experiment with using the foam and I hope to do even more things with the stockings too. Thanks so much for watching!!
Hey Cindy!!! that is nice of you to say. Thanks for the kind words and also thanks for watching. Im glad you liked the shaving cream too. Happy potting!!
hey Carol. Thanks so much!! I appreciate that. Actually, the white glaze is one that I make myself, but it is a standard white "liner" glaze that most community studios have. I have the recipe in the description under the video if you would like to make it. It is actually my most used and favorite glaze.
The craft foam was a revelation! Wonderful ideas! May I ask what tool you used for the punctured holes in the Spirograph design? Thank you Ann, I’ve learned so much from your instructions. ❤
Hi Ann. Do you know how long the craft foam imprints last on the foam? And are there better and worse foam products? I'd like to capture textures from nature - specifically from barks, etc found while traveling. This seems like a great option for doing just that.
I have only had the ones I tried and they are about 10 days old now and seem to be holding up. I think you have an interesting idea and would love to see how that works out for you!
Hi Patricia. The craft foam I used is the standard craft foam sheets that you can purchase in any department store that has a craft section. I didnt measure the thickness. They aren't very thick, maybe like between 1/16th and 1/8th inches or so. Im sure you can come up with more ideas than I did 🙂
Hi, love these videos on texturising clay. I note you wearing your engagement ring... you really shouldn't as the clay will remove gold from the band as well as the claws around the diamond, making your diamond loose in the setting, your diamond could fall out.
I know, I took it off once and forgot where I put it. Found it a week later. I did have the mount reinforced to hold the stone in better. Frankly, it might be zirconia so I'm not too worried. Jim is notoriously cheap but has a huge...heart... 😂
@@LittleStreetPottery ....Melody, Im sure you can tell, but Jim wrote that, haha. he is right though that taking my ring off is much more of a threat to me losing the ring than wearing it and i did get the prongs reinforced so I am not worried about losing the diamond that way. Thanks for watching!!
Your creativity knows no bound.

All of these were cool to see. My favorite method was using the stockings. Those textures are gorgeous.
Great!! thanks Ali!! Those stockings are to experiment with. Give it a try!

@@annruel1982 exactly! Like a sunflower center. 😄 An interesting texture with possibilities, for sure.

I really like the rubber band technique, I bend a paper clip to make an inpressed scalllop motif.

Here's a photo of toying with a bent paper clip. It looks like I cannot do an attachment here for the photo. I' send it another way.

Thanks so much Dragonboat! I really appreciate you watching. Happy potting to you.
The inverted dots are fabulous. The stiff glaze, is that a commercial product?
hey Carol. Thanks so much!! I appreciate that. Actually, the white glaze is one that I make myself, but it is a standard white "liner" glaze that most community studios have. It was just small star-headed screw driver but you can use a needle tool etc. Thanks!
Fico sempre encantada com sua incrivel criatividade e resultados em texturas. Parabéns, tudo ficou tão bonito!
