    I own the G Cloud, Odin 2 and SD OLED. While the G Cloud isn’t as powerful, it’s just such a wonderful experience. And you nailed it on the head with your comment about how nice GBA games look on here, the pixel art is beautiful.

      I have the same fleet! (almost, OG SD LCD…), I can confirm that, of the three, G-Cloud is the most comfy one to hold and to view. It can emulate most NDS and some 3DS, and for me, that’s good enough!

      I'm in loved and caged, I use a gamepad case for an Android Samsung A50, i get OLED SCREEN + joysticks. It's not powerful enough for Xbox, PS2/PS3 games, I'm thinking about move to Steamdeck, but at the Sametime I'm thinking about just keep it for retro 90s gaming, play GBA, NDS, and PSP meanwhile I use Moonlight/Sunshine to stream big titles from my gaming pc: Wii U, Transformers for PC, Injustice from Xenia etc

    so glad people are catching on! i sold my steamdeck a few months back when i realized the deck was fulfilling the same task but in a bulkier format. i already have a decent gaming PC with all my games and none of the graphical compromises + local streaming is amazing now. it just makes sense! the rumble on this thing is also pretty amazing, it even replicates some of those more subtle vibrations when streaming my PS5. sound on the built in speakers is bomb too! anyway great review, i love hearing you talk about stuff - it calms me somehow.

    The G-Cloud has become my portable Xbox and Playstation handheld thanks to remote play, and it is now my retro go device as I now have all of the retro apps running flawlessly. It is now my portable Dreamcast, N64, PS1, Gamcube, Mame, Super Nes, Genesis player on the go. I love the G-Cloud.

    I picked up the G Cloud a few months back and haven’t put it down since. I love this thing! Because of it, I was able to skip out on the PS Portal which I would’ve definitely bought if I didn’t have this already. This is 100x better and does so much more! Tablet mode is so useful also. I can't wait for the next one! Not that Logitech knows what we really want. Remote play, streaming, editing. *Yes editing* seamless emulation. Brightest screen I've seen. Loud. You can actually hear it. It's all good. Really.

    I think since dweeb upgraded his home internet and network, the entire idea of gamestreaming has become an AMAZING experience. That's not a judgement, I am saying I love that when you have good wifi/ home internet it changes how you consume media.

    • @greenprotag
      @greenprotag 10 місяців тому +2

      Local performance on the G-cloud seems pretty good, but that's to be expected from an older mid-tier snapdragon.

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  10 місяців тому +2

      Totally. Although I would probably never bother with online streaming even if I had good net because I rarely leave my house and can do the local stuff. There's some weirdness with online streaming that I'm not a fan of. With GeForce Now at least. But I was surprised that it works so well even on Starlick, if I didn't have a gaming PC I'd definitely be living the streaming life.

    • @greenprotag
      @greenprotag 10 місяців тому

      Agreed. I enjoy hosting my own cloud gaming. Local is great. Heck even remote on my own rigs are great up to a point. I enjoy the convenience of an "always on" lower powered system. I run 8th Gen i7 + A2000 machine. I have a 5800x3D & 3090, but that's overkill for 1080p@60fps. Playing on a TV or a handheld 1080p@60 is fine.

  • @cosmicgamingunlimited

    I'm using my RG556 for my streaming device. The sticks aren't the best for shooters, but fine for games like No More Heroes 3. The OLED really makes the difference. Put down my ROG Ally all weekend to use the RG556. I wish they would do a G-Cloud 2 with an OLED, more memory, and a better processor. The $300-350 would make sense then. I don't have a G-Cloud myself, I don't think I will buy one, but when I used it at best buy, it did feel really good in the hands.

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  10 місяців тому +2

      @josef689 10 місяців тому

Because they are short sticks, they are a bit more sensitive.I turn down the sensitivity in the game I played. Got 38 kills in a hardcore Call duty MW3 streaming from the Xbox to the RG556. As an owner of this (I bought it "refurb'd" on ebay), I use it for streaming and lower end emulators (I use it up to PSP) I LOVE the screen and the controls are also pretty good, but the battery life is killer. The price is it's worst attribute, it needs to be at no more than $200. At least there's pre owned ones for around that price, so good on that. Great review as always Mr. Dweeb!

  • @JamesPickett1977
    @JamesPickett1977 10 місяців тому +6

    This is one of those devices where you realise that tech specs are not the be all and end all. It's such a well thought out product that is really easy to pick up and play, making gaming convenient again. The ergonomics and weight are fantastic, the big screen is really immersive, great battery and the controls are, er, fine.
    If your use case fits, it's brilliant at game streaming around the home and emulation is great up to PS1, PSP, Dreamcast. As a Father of two young kids, it's allowed me to enjoy the Xbox SX at an extremely time-poor time of life! (and no, a phone in a grip didn't come close).
    Tis a bit pricey though...

      @-shikajin-4078 10 місяців тому

      I mean, not to be that guy, but specs ARE very important if you plan on doing anything other than Cloud gaming on this device. Because I can just as easily do cloud gaming on a cheap Android phone with a controller attached and an internet connection. If it were cheaper, it would absolutely be worth it though.

    • @JamesPickett1977
      @JamesPickett1977 10 місяців тому

      Sure. I did say 'If your use case fits' to support my view. The point I'm trying to make is about quality of experience. I have a GameSir X2 for my phone and it's fine, but the GCloud is waaaay better for all the reasons I gave and I can pick it up and be gaming in seconds. It's just great to live with is all 😊

      @-shikajin-4078 9 місяців тому

      @@JamesPickett1977 I'm not disagreeing with you as far as the experience is concerned. And I wouldn't make a big deal out of it should it be a one-of-a-kind product that offered you a premium Game Pass gaming experience. But having something like the Steam Deck in the market for only a slightly bigger pricetag than this makes this product obsolete, in my opinion. The only real advantage I can see in buying this handheld over gaming on your phone is the screen size.

I would LOVE a G Cloud 2 with fixed d-pad and more power. However the sales on this seem pretty low (example amazon shows sales numbers, and only 400 for this in the last month) so I'm not sure it'll happen :/. Plus I think such a "G Cloud 2" would need to cost 399, at which point it gets a bit more questionable.

    Just a note that if the device supports exFAT then you can have a single file size up to 128 petabytes so I don't think there is any limitation on file size for higher end systems.

    I used to own this. I returned it. The ergonomics were my favorite, and battery was great. The problem is that the streaming didn't look that great. I have a 1th WiFi mesh 6E setup and have owned the steam deck LCD, oled, aokzoe a1 pro, legion go, and rog ally. So I know what streaming is like for all. Moonlight, GeForce now, gamepass, and ps remote play. It needs wifi 6E, then it will be incredible.

    I am always on my G Cloud. Running PS5, Steam, and emulation. To me, the only positives that Steamdeck has on this is that it can be played anywhere and emulate higher end systems.

    Would like to see logitech make an better version of this device thats not primary for cloud gaming but good android gaming and emulation. More memory too as i seen some tablets and phones with more memory than it. Curious to see what logitech does in the handheld market in future.

    if they mad the local processing power more, than this would be such a good buy, I love android gaming on the go, and I love emulating stuff, but this just feels like I would be confined to my home, for which I could just use my gaming laptop, with a controller (which is what I do), and is much more comfortable as I can actually use a good controller, and I get a bigger screen, with it generally just laying on my stomach, that is my issue with this device, it just doesn't do anything new, only if it was a more powerful android device would it then make sense for someone like me to buy it.

    Ok, yes, it's nice. But you also said that about the Abxylute. Is the Logitech a hundred bucks better? I have the Abxylute (based primarily upon your review actually) and I love it, and XBox Cloud streaming is flawless. I would be very interested in seeing you do a head-to-head comparison between the two. For the price difference (I picked the Abxylute up on Ebay for $10) I would expect the Logitech to be significantly better, but I wonder - is it?

    • @djmorris666

      It is. Better controls and ergonomics. Build quality is better and even streaming performance, especially xcloud and geforce now…

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah. I do think it's $100 better, personally. The controls and hand feel are definitely ahead of the ABXYlute. Still a great device though, and honestly an ABXYlute for $100 is gonna be hard to top! (I assume you meant to type $100? If not, WOW!)

    • @WHJunior
      @WHJunior 10 місяців тому

      Oh, yeah, typo. It was supposed to say $100. And I did do a lot of hunting and comparison shopping on Ebay, but there was never anything close with the price, and I think if there had been, I probably would have gone with the Logitech, but I could not justify the additional cost. The good news is, they are both great at what they were meant to do. I will say, the stick controls are a little overly sensitive for my taste, and I am not deep enough into it to know how to tweak that. If you can point in the right direction, I would be eternally grateful!@@TechDweeb

    As for the SD card. Just Format it to the Android File System and then use a FTP to transfer the game. I got God of War 1&2 on it. Which are 6 gb games. I got the G-Cloud over a Steamdeck. Im just going to use it around the house. There no reason why a handheld should be 2 pounds. And i really don't like the button layout of the Steamdeck.. I don't think i would ever use those stupid touchpads. I think the 300 bucks was well worth consider how much i use it. SO..

    9:53 ExFAT has no file size limitation so I think you mean just FAT32, which is a pain. Here in the U.K. it costs £329 which is way too close to the base Steam Deck which you can to use to stream, play locally and emulate nearly everything. The battery on the LCD Steam Deck, while not amazing, is fine for streaming. I’m sorry but the G Cloud is overpriced, extremely limited and there are many better alternatives on the market today.
