  • The Gamo Magnum GR .25 is a throwback to a time where magnum break barrel airguns ruled the back yard. I’d like to take credit for the .25 hitting GamoUSA.com (and so I will :) ) but the truth is that Gamo has made .25 cal break barrels for a long time. It’s just really nice to see them make a comeback. The Magnum GR .25 is a spring powered airgun with a ton of potential. Today we’ll get it ready by mounting the scope and cleaning the barrel. We’ll be using gear from Fix it Sticks and Patch Worm so please be sure to check out the links below so you can reach out to those guys and thank them for supporting Airgun Web. Let’s get to some old school airgunning!

    I had already sent 150 pellets down range when I added tune in a tube to the spring and also blue loctite to all the screws. 50 more shots afterwards and the rifle is indeed smoother to cock. The harmonics have improved as well. My groups are tightening up as the rifle seasons. This .25 delivers a smackdown on anything it hits. So far the jsb 25.39 and the Hades are doing the best. I can't wait to hunt with this beast! My new survival gun.

    Thanks for the springer video, they still fill a notch for a lot of people. I bought an FWB 124 39 years ago (I was 18) and it was 100 times better than my old Daisy 880 BB gun. Still fun to shoot and it’s always been accurate.

The only other .25 cal Gamo pellet I find now is the BSA Pylarm at 21.6g over in Europe. Great job and looking forward to you shooting the tuned version with 3 different pellets.

    Tune in a tube is good stuff. Used it on a fresh rebuild instead of 73% molybdenum grease. I have enough left for probably 5 more rebuilds. Not sure what the secret sauce is, but it works well. I'm at about 2500 shots in from the rebuild. It had 12k shots through it before I rebuilt it and I got it second hand. Going strong. And consistent. It's a Gamo Socom Tactical.

    • @springpistonriflefeverlone9611
      @springpistonriflefeverlone9611 Рік тому +4

      A gas ram is not perfect. They end more scopes than springers. Once a spring is broke in, it is easier to cock and has a more mild shot cycle than a gas spring. If you put a tune kit in the spring piston rifle, you can't tell the difference in smoothness of cocking or shot noise.

    This gun is like the 22 Jungle, I have , and I believe you have to hold it very firmly - the gun is very powerful and very light weight. The stock is empty plastic which also makes vibrate. I filled my stock with oiled rags and compressed them. I enjoy my Jungle 22 very much and was thinking of buying the 25 , but it seems that even with the 33mm tube and spring it won’t shoot the the 25grain pellets over 650 fps and that not worth the work involved in cocking the gun in 25 cal. My 22 shoots the CP 14.3 at 910 fps , I lube the spring through the outside aperture using high temperature aircraft grease, made cycle better and smoother. The scope that came with my gun is the same as in this video , also the mounts - they have functioned exceptionally well - I’ve had the Jungle 22 for approximately 2 years and it’s shooting super well. The Jungle 22 is a good hunting gun for 20 to 35 yards , not a plinker because it’s a heavy cocker. The 22 model has a hefty kick to the point that I had to put an extra rubber butt pad , the 25 caliber I imagine has a harder kick - the heavier the pellets in springers , the harder the kick. Anyhow I hope Gamo puts the 25 cal on special come Christmas, I’d love to add to my collection.

    Well.. I guess these bigger springers are just not as easy to learn..
    I some while back got my hands on an used Ruger X5. Just a .177, shooting about at 5-600fps or so. It came scoped - so took off the scope to get them iron sights done first.. Apparently no one had used them before - because they were waaay off🤣. But iron sighted I got very good hits at 15 meters. I think I used RWS Meisterkugeln pellets though - if not Norica Hammer (slightly round tipped, but very close to being flatheaded) pellets..
    This Magnum did seem to be allaround - or if you can say so - since hitting same ballpark even though scope being noticeably adjusted in between ...

    This is pretty cool to see but...
    1) I believe a lot of viewers are going to get the wrong idea of the gun's potential from it's performance with any Gamo pellet(except maybe red fire or armor if they even exist in .25) just mho. Hopefully most with any amount of experience will wait to see how it does with jsb kings, hornets, or any of the barracuda variants.
    2) Gamo really needs to offer their Mach 1 hunter extreme pro in .25 to show use the best of what they really have to offer us quarter bore fans.

    As Gamo and BSA are owned by the same company, it's probably the tighter British .25 (.246-.248 cal) barrels rather than the Lothar-Walther .25. My .25 BSA Superstar loved the old Milbro Rhinos 19 grain pellets. RWS Superdomes and HN Field Target were a close second. If you keep the velocities in the 750-800 ranges the light .25 pellets really shine in accuracy and thump with much more authority than their .22 counterparts especially past 50 yards but you get a rainbow trajectory.

      I'm a gamo and hatsan fan and I'll say this with no dog in the fight. Just my personal experience with the guns. I like my hatsans for max balls out power(my 125s in .177 and .25 make 25 and 36fpe respectively) ...BUT they are 35 yard max guns and require a lot of attention to good consistent form to do that. And my Gamos I like for a better "factory" trigger in the cat, and above all, ease of shooting accurately. My Mach 1 Whisper Fusion was sub nickel at 25 yards out of the box with the lowest hold sensitivity I've ever seen and my old(tuned up) gen 1 whisper may only be a 16fp gun but has a sub 2 lb trigger and shoots sub beer bottle or soup can 8/10 at 90 yards with Benjamin hp's or barracuda ft's. Granted I've had probably near 15 years to learn and tweak that gun.
