    I am English and am very familiar with the BSBWSH (British Standard Bees Wax Shaped Hole) series of fasteners.
    Over here, we can buy ready made adapters from any hardware store. Unfortunately the British Standard mandates that these be made of chocolate.
    Glad to see that you come up with a permanent solution to the problem.

      +Chris Williams I'll watch for them on fleabay. I would thing the Chinese will be knocking off the BSBWSH originals at some point in the future. Probably.

    Good day all : I have moderate experience with 2 stroke exhaust systems and similar problems . Fiber glass packing in exhaust systems . I disassembled and repaired exhausts on old Yamaha's , Kawasaki's and Suzuki's with fiber glass packing . The glass packing was most often the same problem ; moderately packed with carbon and congealed unburnt 2 stroke oil . They were most often found with fiber glass packing that had been pushed to the rear end of the mufflers by the exhaust pressure . This in itself clogged the mufflers and caused twin and triple cylinder bikes to be not revving freely and "Fighting Themselves" . This condition I found on Yamaha RD 350's / 400's , Kawasaki 350's/500's and 750's and Suzuki 250's twins . Removing the baffles , pulling out all the old jammed fiber glass packing , next was to mount each baffle in a vice and use a propane torch to heat up area by area on each baffle around the outside . As each small area was torched , a wire brush was used to scrape away all the black junk off the baffle . When they were all finished and reinstalled the exhaust systems were certainly much more free flowing and much easier revving engines with cylinders not fighting each other . Even a lot of licensed mechanics could easily overlook clogged mufflers with unequal cylinders and wrongly think that it's due to worn cylinders/pistons or even some wrongly believed it was time to re - jet carbs . Over the years I spoke to a pair of 2 stroke snowmobile owners and they also have removed old fiber glass packing congealed with old cooked 2 stroke oil that was clogging their mufflers and like me both would never put fiber glass packing into their mufflers again . Another thing was to use only synthetic 2 stroke oil you can't go wrong with that . The cleanliness of the exhaust was better , better cold starts with smoother acceleration , much less smoke etc . Hope that I've been some help for you all ! bye bye for now .

    • @dronai
      @dronai 2 роки тому

      What are you supposed to use then ? I have an old 1969 Yamaha AT1 Enduro, and someone took out the whole silencer baffle, and it's to loud for my neighborhood ? I can't find any OEM, so I ordered a 4" baffle that is 1 1/2" at the end to fit. Just a small pipe with holes, but I'm thinking it's still going to be too loud, that's why I'm here.

    • @johnh1001
      @johnh1001 2 роки тому

      @@dronai The only thing I could suggest there would be to try to find a good used replacement baffle or a whole exhaust of that same model bike . These are sometimes available through the cycle wreckers . You might be able to leave your name with the wreckers and they will search the system for you to locate that replacement exhaust . There also may be up to 5 or 6 other models of Yamahas that are 1 or 2 years older or 1 or 2 years newer that also may use that same exhaust . that would help your search . You might be able to search the system with your own private computer to locate another whole exhaust that you could clean and install . Hope this helps you .

    if you do not have allen screw wrenches you can use a bolt of the right size.
    It is also a 6 sided pattern and you can put 2 nuts at the end to lock it in place.
    Or take a long bold and and band it 45 degrees and you have a simple wrench.

    Wow, what did you do to remove that rust from the exhaust? That is chrome right? I have a honda cm 125 and I've been wondering about how to make the chrome look better. I'm gonna blast and spray the frame and bits, probably take the wheels apart, buff the hubs rims and replace the spokes, but I don't wanna strip the chrome from the accessories and tank it's value. I also don't wanna pay a tonne of money for re-chroming :P

    I thought you might be interested in my latest discovery, inspired by your good self. Upon realising I was short on diamond paper I realised I should find an alternative. I cut a length of fabric reinforced pressure sensitive tape and inverted it on my workbench. A layer or organic ground aggregate was evenly spread on it,pressed and then the excess placed back into the sandpit. Et viola, a fresh custom graded abrasive paper!

    I used on my exhaust fiberglass and warped it around many times. I see you use fiberglass cotton to wrap the exhaust. Am I going to have problems? Do I have to remove it?

    hex drive tamper-proof security bit is what they are called :) There are many shapes and sizes, however the point is to stop people from walking along with there budget screwdriver set for 1 usd 99p pound store and removing them. Some are put in places that require human protection, E.G park benches, other places are used in gadgets, mains plugs + current and toys which stop children from attempting to open them to self service, However due to the fact we now have Ebay and Amazon, kids are able to just go online and buy these sets, where as before the days of the Net people had to order them in specifically from certain tool makers. P.S im UK was born in the 80s and as a child i loved taking things apart, sadly my Nintendo NES had these screws deep into the case and i always had to wonder in my wildest dreams what was inside that shell :( So i just got the radiator bleed key and opened the valves to see where the water come from :D
