    If you have a suppressor on and you don't want to take it off. Put a straw in your suppressor then feed the feed patch worm cord through the straw so it won't bind on the internal suppressor baffles. Works like a charm.

      I use a bit of waxed thread, the same type of thread used for leather sewing a single strand is strong enough to be used as a pull through though if you want it to hold some beeswax to maintain stiffness its best to braid some together so theres no need to use a straw as the threat is stiff enough to easily be fed down the muzzle and just leave a bit if bees wax in my cleaning kit which can also be used to waterproof both wood and metal for extended periods out in the field.
      I have a hw97k aka an underleaver and the beeswax gives extra grip on the charging lever and protects it from rust just rub the wax onto the metal then rub with your finger to smooth it evenly onto the metal and can easily be removed with a light bit of heat and a rag if for whatever reason you need to take the wax off the metal

    2 things I do are clean PCPs upside down or remove barrel to reduce dripping cleaner or oil in the transfer port. Also dry fire after cleaning to blow out any excess. Btw, I was unaware you can decock a springer?

    • @FarmerFpv
      @FarmerFpv 2 роки тому +2

      Yup, all my springers and gas piston airguns decock as well. Just make sure to hold on to the barrel tight. I hand my Hatsan gas piston break barrel fly up and pinch in between my thumb and index finger taking a chunk of meat with it. Had to put it on ice and get stitched back on.

    Ii you have an FX rifle, during the cleaning process one needs to be VERY careful when pulling through to clean the barrel, if you pull through there is the possibility that you can damage or rip out the BREACH seals, which are a bit fiddly to replace.

    So I have a question. Btw, I'm new with air guns, that's why this question. But in the beginning you talk about the rod that has that protective material around that doesn't make any scratches, but then you insert it with the patch, it cleans it, you take off the dirty patch and the metal point it's uncovered. Now, when you pull the rod out, should I be concerned with that metal point to scratch the inner barrel? Thanks.

  • @OverlandTT

    The lead also helps lubricate the barrel which is why the first shots after cleaning are lower FPS and the following should increase both accuracy and speed.

    Guess what: lately I've become kinda lazy (hot weather or whatever) so I utterly neglected all of my (8 different models, 2 PCPs and 6 springers) when it comes to cleaning the barrel(s). I even haven't cleaned them after swapping them pellet models... Nothing really went worse - more or less, I'm where I was when acting otherwise, that is, quite accurate at the range as well as "out in the field" (pest control). On another note: for the "pull through" method, use the fishing line with the piece of the pellet attached to one end. Once it comes out of the other end of the barrel, make a noose in the middle of that fishing line/thread and use quality patches/cloths.
