  • In this episode of Shooting & Country TV, Gary Chillingworth gets to grips with an out of the box Air Arms TX200HC rifle... no funky pistons or aftermarket stocks, just a fatman with a springer and a scope (his words not ours!). Let's see how he does!
    Gary covers shooting the TX200HC out to 25 yards and then 40 yards, and discusses why it's a great rifle to buy... Enjoy :)

    I have the HW95, HW97, HW98, Pro Sport and TX200. I have spent time and effort with all of them and they are great guns. All have their inherent positives and negatives! But as far as I'm concerned, the TX200 ticks the most positives (easy to work on, lots of after market fittings, can be decocked, well balanced, not hold sensitive and not too heavy) and is the one that I should have bought initially! 😎

    Gary, wishing you a speedy recovery. Another excellent video, it's good to see it like it is. Good to see you are using that neoprene and foam cheek riser. I have taken the band saw to both my HW100 stocks to give me an adjustable cheek riser. So far so good but it took a leap of faith to make a start! Looking forward to your next video.

      @ShootingCountryTV  Рік тому +1

      Hi Kveecock. Thank you for the kind words, made my day. I shoot .177 as i'm a target shooter and for me. JSB Diablo in 8.44 grain 4.52 head size, although all guns are different. If I can't get JSB, AA fields are every bit as good.

      Well, I’ve just bought one this afternoon. Second hand, as I haven’t got £700 lying around. However, for £400 I’ve an almost unused rifle with a walnut stock and it is a thing of beauty, though surprisingly and reassuringly heavy for its size.
      2 questions, the safety catch doesn’t always engage when I cock the rifle unless I really pull back hard. Is this normal or should I be worried?
      Secondly, I’m very persuaded by the faster lock time and reduced effort of a 22mm piston but I don’t use Facebook so is there any other way of contacting tony leach so I can get hold of one?
      It’s dark now so can’t wait to get outside and start using it!
      I think my PCPs are going to start getting dusty…
      Thanks in advance again.
      Keith

    Excellent video. I'm right handed, but I have a left handed version (.22) ... the breach is also on the left? I find this much easier to load holding the gun always with the right hand and cocking and putting the pellet in with the left hand? They are cracking guns, "truly brilliant", I love mine, so accurate, bit heavy for field work. But a prime mover, just need pellets. I have a night sight arrangement on mine with illumination and it's getting heavy. So I am waiting for a split body bipod to arrive. My plan is to drill and tap the walnut stock forward of the stock bolts. Fit helicoils and then fit the bipod. A Helicoil is a steel helix used for thread repair but also often used to put a proper thread insert in good wood, like beech or walnut. We will see!

    It’s just a shame Air Arms don’t put and adjustable cheek piece as standard with the walnut stock’s, that’s would give them the edge I feel. Oh and having to pay extra for a left hand 😕 make them an ambi stock. I’ve got Weihrauch air rifles and love them but always wanted a tx so when my local shop got a lefty walnut in I snapped it up 😁 have to say it’s fantastic out the box and it’s the hc.

      @garychillingworth 2 роки тому +2

      Hi Heath, I hope you had a great 4th of July.
      For me it's always the Tx200hc for one reason. It has a half inch unf thread on the front and you can fit a moderator. As its an Airgun you don't need to pay the federal tax stamp on it.

    • @heithwatkins
      @heithwatkins 2 роки тому +3

      @@garychillingworth On Pyramid Air website it shows the standard and HC to have the same length barrel. So I thought the extra length would be baffles to help keep it quiet. Also the standard has a longer cocking arm, resulting in easier cocking.
      Sadly in the USA it's hard to find people with experience with the TX200. AEAC did a great review on the standard 177cal.
